I like how you are always adding tips and advice on here so we can keep learning bit by bit. Others sometimes throw all this stuff in one video and we have to try to cram hours of knowledge at once and forget over half of it by end of video. This way we can learn a step, use it, remember it, then learn more.
As far as I can tell you can't auto punch a smaller selection inside a loop while the loop is "looping". Cakewalk can do this and it is extremely handy for multiple takes with a built in "preroll" inside the loop. Cakewalk also mutes the original when the punch is recording in this scenario. I'm not a cakewalk fanboy... It's just super useful for hands off multi takes of an isolated section. The loop region and punch in region are independent of each other. This is super useful!!! I wish this was possible in Studio One.
This is exactly what I need sometimes . You may have a piece of a solo you want to loop and record to get it right but you need that pre roll every time it loops so you know when to come in or play w the pre roll to have a smooth transition between Anyone know if this has been added to the newest version ? I’m running 5 not 6 currently
Loop follows selection!!! omg i didn't know you could do that and i Kept hoping that it would be a thing in the future. Thank you!!! Now it would be even cooler if AUTOpunch also had an automatic pre roll count as well so I don't have to move the cursor to where i want to pre roll from.....ya know. Kind of like PT
another great tutorial Joe,its a great way to learn in these short videos you make in staid of a complete 1 hour walktrough, that way it sticks better in the brain,i have learned about loop follows selection, wich i didnt know existed, cheers
Thanks... You always give us valuable tips n tricks. I am from Sri Lanka. Can you tell me how to sell music, please tell me the websites that you can sell music. I mean cinematic, trailer music, songs backing tracks kind of thing. Thanks again...
The auto punch in-out is something I really miss coming from Pro Tools after 25 years. You can set a pre in SO but there’s no out punch and keep rolling. It would be nice to have this feature in SO. (Studio One) Just makes recording sense to me and not so cumbersome. 🤔 That being said, SO is awesome. 👍 I’ve been enjoying it since V3. 😊
Hi Roc, perhaps you'll find my "Preroll and Autopunch" Macro helpful: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CZFt4C0AGn8.html (starts at 3:57) -GBY
Hi Joe...I use the pre roll on S1 4.5 and it does not do the backward count, it makes a ptrrrrr sound like a fart and starts recording.... Can you suggest a fix?
I MUST be doing something wrong. I'm trying to punch my way from the top of the track till I make a mistake. If I mess up the take and manually hit stop, my punch OUT point (set to the end of the song) CHANGES to where I just stopped. I understand resetting my new punch IN point. Is there a way to pin one (or both) punch points so I don't have to keep resetting them? Thanks Joe or ANYBODY.
thanks for the video. so like pro tools quick punch i can set a loop point and record and the loop point will stay where i set it if the artist messes up and we have to retake that part. but in studio one when i set the loop point and the artist messes up during the recording the loop point changes to where we have to stop at instead of staying locked in where i set it and i have to remake the loop point. i hate that the loop wont stay where i set it. is there a way to keep it set or is it better to just use pro tools when i need to record artist that have to punch in a lot like rap artist that freestyle aka dont come with there materials ready?
Greetings PreSonus Audio Is it possible to develop a tool qwerty keyborad So easy for the user to play on the computer keyboard Replace the midi keyboard and control the base note and the layout
Something happened in my version of Studio One 6 pro that when I punch in and out it is adding pre-roll and post-roll space to the take which of course ruins my comp. I cannot seem to figure out how to fix this. Anyone have an idea?
Why can't there be a pre roll after each take in punch in and out (loop recording)? This has been asked for years ago. After the first punch out play starts again at pre roll and plays to record another take.
I think the idea with auto is you can start where ever you want. I usually do 2 beats but I’ve been doing it a long time and I know how to record fast when editing. For others I give what Evers comfortable usually 4 beats if they’re experienced. Cheers
please make a video explaining about the config of device block size and dropout protection and a workflow to save cpu...i am tired to change the settings and sometimes it looks that is not working
this has always bothered me in studio one that i can't use pre-roll to automatically set to play a few bars before auto-punching in, in cubase and Nuendo this is possible
Hay Joe. Im kinda new to studio one as i just don't use it much. But when i do it seams my magic mouse is not as smooth as logic. I there a setting for this. Thanks Man Stay Safe...
Not exactly ground breaking as I could do that in the 1980s with auto punch in & punch out on a 4 track Tascam tape deck. And that could be with any desired pre-roll time. But of course not with same amount of visual feedback or take lanes.
