After hours of research and a few mistakes, the prewiring in my campervan is done! I explain how to wire the ceiling puck lights, what kind of wires I used and how to hide them in support beams in my Sprinter van. I will add a link to my electrics plan below and if you have any questions add a comment and I will be happy to answer :) For the prewiring, you will need to wire based on your van layout. This took me a while to learn and would love to share everything I learned with others.
Know your DC loads. Mine were:
- Fridge
- 4 ceiling puck lights
- Max Air vent fan
- Air heater
- water pump
- 6x 80cm LED light strips
- 4x USB ports, Mini USB port and 12V port
- 2x bed lights with USB ports
My AC loads: water heater (plugs into 220V outlet), 4 other 220V outlets
Additional wires I needed to run:
- Solar panels
- Roof lights
- Control panel, Inverter panel
- Car battery to house battery
- Water level check panel
Wire thickness for different devices. I used:
- 1,5mm wire for Bed lights, air heater, LED light strips, USB ports, 12V port
- 1,5mm three core wire (for all my 220V outlets) - 5 outlets
- 0,75mm wire - 4 ceiling puck lights (wired in parallel), water pump,
- 4mm wire - Fridge
- 6mm wire - Car battery-house battery *+0,75mm wire for the signal to start charging once the car starts
- Wire conduit -16mm (about 35m)
- Quick zips
- Insulation hose (I cut it down and used it as protection for wires)
Put conduit on before moving the wires through the hard-to-reach places. There are two reasons for that: 1. The wires don't get damaged on sharp metal edges, 2. You can replace a wire later on and don't need to drill holes in the wall to do it.
My little wiring plan - the drawing is awful but maybe it helps someone:

I am Sandra. In January 2022 I purchased a 2018 Sprinter Van, Sherpa. I am using my stubbornness and drive to show individuals that they, too, can convert a camper van by themselves and on a budget, with a lot of learning, rolling up the sleeves, and getting to work. With this van build I want to create an adventure vehicle that's going to store all my surfboards, mountain bikes and skis and have some space for my friends to tag along as well in order to pursue the waves, fresh snow and good bike trails.
My want to inspire individuals to pursue their passion and to not be afraid to live a life differently.
