Beech has designed and produced some of the most amazing GA aircraft ever built, but the engineers were smokin crack on the day they designed the door. Every veteran Baron or Bonanza pilot has experienced a door “pop” in flight. Every time it will scare the crap out of you too. Great vid Christopher. 55 Baron is an awesome machine.
Knock on wood, I have not had a door pop on me since the early 2000’s and I hope to keep it that way! Now I have had the back window pop at night! And that did scare the crap out of me!😂
RFD Chicago/Rockford - once was 'home' to the EAA Airventure till it moved to Oshkosh. Our little airport KFEP (Freeport, IL) is just west of Rockford about 20 miles. Which was once 'home' to the 'Freak Brothers' Skydiving Convention years back. Thank you for the video
Thanks for the video. Always enjoy them. Your co-pilot is easy on the eyes, Haha. What are those blue lensed glasses you are wearing? I have to get something different for flying other than my polarized Ray Bans.
Terry Rutherford aww thanks Terry! Kristoffer wears Method 7 sunglasses and I will be switching to them soon. They are Non polarized and have different lenses for different aged eyes. They’re awesome!!
Great video. I think the next video is always the one you most look forward to! FlyingSIC has a really good voice. And isn't it slightly odd that your daughter calls you by your first name? Really enjoyed this one!
Oh man, I’m sorry you had to spend any amount of time in Rockford. I can say that because I grew up there. 😎 Also, the next time you see her starting to wake up, pretend that you’re also sleeping. That reaction would be amazing!
Great choice of co pilot. She took to the plane immediately. Would love to see her pick up a license and share the yolk duties! Been watching you for about two years now. Great vids and am totally envious of your ability to make the world so much smaller via the Baron.
Great chemistry! Sad to see the follow up video won't quite be all it's hyped up to be, but sometimes Mother Nature has her own way. I think those Concord Auctioneer controllers are semi internet famous themselves! I've definitely heard clips a few times! Cheers y'all
enjoyed this video as usual...thank you Exciting to hear that Kim will be taking flying lessons. I from what I see I think she'll make a very good pilot....she does have a good tutor too, but she also seems to get it, so to speak! Fantastic best of luck to you Kim!
@@flyingsic My Pleasure Kim...if you guys like you can call me Andy. Honestly I don't know how to change the way my name appears in comments...must be my white hair...lol
I had a V-tail and was flying with an instructor. I let him close the door. At 500ft it pops open. So, I got an extra landing on the flight. Also, got a lesson I never forgot.
LOL, I've left my wife doing that same expression with the empty Pringles can many times. Once I crack one of those open, I'm eating the WHOLE sleeve - no sharing! HAHAHA! 😂 Damn things are addicting! 😁 Yep, I called that one way back - Kim's gonna be a pro before she even gets the license. I can see her flying inverted on her check ride. "How 'bout THAT!", she'll say to him. 😜 But seriously - I can't wait to see that video of her passing her check ride & getting her license. I know it will happen! 😎 She's a perfect match for you, Kris - nice work! 😉 I just got news that my paramotor is being shipped out tomorrow! Super excited!! 🙌
@@flyingsic -Thanks Kim! Oh, absolutely - I'll be filming everything from the unboxing to assembly, and maybe the first flight - definitely many flights afterward. I'll be chatting about it in the comments section, too, I'm sure. :) I figure it should be here in around 10 days, CA to MA. 😊
Gregorian ATC chants, now my life is complete. Might be a Catholic flight controller, hehe. Love the little Baron. Such a lovely engine drone! Flew the baron with my brother years ago, nice machine to fly!
Understand the "excitement". When I saw the North40 for the first time, I had that big smile on my face and my wife thought it was funny. That's OK. Good video!
Ha! Get your hair standing at 4:18 if/with a pwr loss and that hole is in front of ya. Geez, who was there first the diggins or the glide path? BP, thks for another good vid.
I took my checkride at Concord on a real hot day, I remember flying over the quarry and it gave me quite the ride on final. By the way the CT dude is awesome. Hes always like that after retiring out of CLT ATC. great video again.
I wonder if all Baron doors are finicky ? The one I flew years ago was like that. Didn’t matter how many times the adjusted it, it was hard to latch and did pop open a time or two. Another great video guys ! Safe skies !
Young lady, I was about to ask if you are flight certified, but that question was answered in the first few minutes. You are picking things up quickly. I’m excited to see someone else as excited about aviation as I am. Thank you both for the channel. I really enjoy your videos. I don’t know who does your editing, but your videos are spectacular. Great views, especially the the exterior shots. Thank you both.
I knew from day one that Kim was born to fly. She is so relaxed when flying, even in rough weather. I hope you video her journey through flight school, when the time comes. 👍
She kisses the nacelle, she programs in the flight plan, and she closes the door without abusing it. I am reminded of the lyric from an old song from the 70s . . . ohhhhh, what a lucky man he was. The videos are great . . . and fun to watch. Thank you.
Great vid! Sorry also to miss you at Osh, but I was standing in line to meet Stevo at Jason’s table, did see you two walking out of the building. I was going give you a shout out “Hey Barron Pilot”, but didn’t! 😃
Two items of interest, perhaps. Most of those ZAU (Chicago ARTCC) sectors you went through were ones I worked for 25 years (plus several high altitude ones). That last fix in your route into RFD, AHMED (V8 and V10), was a fix I encountered regularly and I always intentionally mispronounced it "Ach-med". I don't know if it amused anyone else, but sometimes you need to liven things up on a dull day. Oh, finally, my son, born in St. Charles, not far from the aforementioned Ach-med, now lives in Belvidere, the next town east of RFD.
LRod Peterson LRod- how’s Ormond treating you? I am still learning a lot of the lingo and I will definitely butcher fixes. Kristoffer does it as well. We always mess the HIZER and KIZER ones near us. We constantly hear ATC spelling it because everyone gets them wrong 😂
@@flyingsic That's something that's changed a lot in the years since I retired (21). Actually, it started in the 80s, but GPS and our (ATC) own programming issues led to the overwhelming proliferation of five letter fix names--some pronouncable, some not. Back when I started the intersection/fix names were printed out in full on the charts, but internally most of them had identifiers--letter-numeral-letter or numeral-letter-letter. Those have gone the way of spats, now. I see in all the modern aviation videos that the five letter fixes are all over the place, as pilots file fewer airways and more direct-direct. Tough on controllers, especially if they're dinosaurs. I talked to you briefly at Fun 'n' Sun. I'm usually pretty vocal about being a retired controller, but it may not have come across. I was carrying (not wearing) a back pack and tankering a lot of water. I was also trying to hook up with Kevin and Jaime, but I don't know if any of that stands out. Good luck in your pilot pursuit. I've never lost the magic feeling, even though it's been about 25 years since I flew and over 50 since I was licensed.
QUESTION....(perhaps a silly question). Would it be legal, in all respects, for an individual to fly (from the get-go) in a higher performance aircraft like yours to obtain their private license? Thus circumventing the single-engine craft world. Obviously, fuel costs and all that not being a factor.
It looks like you could skip the single engine phase completely. I couldn't find any information regarding the FAA, but in the UK it seems like you could get your multi engine rating without a single engine rating.
Great video, look forward to seeing those pics of the V tail. Also, Kim is doing an awesome job being a co pilot, she has that Avidyne programming down packed !
David Rendon I wish I could have had a camera on at all times it was just so amazing! Avidyne has such an easy system it’s ridiculous- it makes me look like I know what I’m doing!🤣 Hope you’re recovering well!
Had a door pop with an apache while pulling out of a not so authorized “buzz” of a friends house. Yup, that was a fright I will never forget! Never trust the door to anyone...lol
Baron Pilot cured my young and dumb ideas of buzzing thats for sure...course this was in the 80’s so it wasn’t as PC as it is now. The next 20 years every two years of renewing my CFI I heard about buzzing as a hot topic....lol
Anybody know the brand of window shades he uses? I only recently found this channel, so if there's a video on it please point me in the right direction.
Christian is correct. They are jet shades. You can order a universal set from my website BaronPilotShop.com or for custom fit shades go to jetshades.com to find a dealer near you.
,awsome flight! She is taking to aviation like a duck to water! Shes absorbing the navigation portion and I have a feeling she will be soloing in that twin before you know it! You both make an awsome pair and I enjoy watching your adventures! God speed!
Hey Baron, I found your plane at KSGJ the other day while getting a checkout in a Warrior. I took a few selfies (I hope you don't mind.) I will share them if you want! I have just earned my Private Pilot License and look forward to creating flight videos of my own! You are a big inspiration to me!
I think Lucy split. I miss her.I can picture the Baron in a bar trying to pick up chicks saying "Hey I am a pilot and have a plane..want to go for a ride?' I have my pilots license but need a plane!! Chris can I borrow yours? :)
