Thanks for today’s piano recital from your Mother. My Mother played the her baby grand piano everyday. She passed away at 97. 30 days before she passed I stopped to visit. I asked her to play something for me. She jumped up to the baby grand. She looked down at the key board and said I don’t know what to play. I said Mom play scales knowing she played scales each and everyday of her life. She held her hands above the keys. She started to cry. “I can’t !” I lost my Mother 30 days later. Music was her life. Listening to your Mother play today brought back the sounds that fill our home. Thank you. David Willey
Priceless Doyle. The best video you have done yet. So much in there that could be "unpacked" as they say. Love to you and your mom. What a precious gift.
Hi Doyle, Please take care of your MOM, She is Precious and filled with the Holy Spirit of God. I hope when I'm 94, I can play How Great Thou Art as well as she did and Bless someone's Heart the way she did mine. Praise The Lord. God Bless You Brother............Keep Pickin.
Family gatherings at the Dykes’s would be worth the price of any ticket! What a bunch of talented folks, starting with mom! Watching her brought back floods of memories in church as a child over 60 years ago….gotta go and dry these tears up. Thank you to Doyle’s family.
Great job Drew and Grandma!!! So Doyle, what's cooking in Martha's kitchen tonight? That was really, really cool!!!! When I was a kid in the 60's and 70's, there were pianos and guitars in most of the homes in those days. We had both and then later on my mother purchased a Lowrey organ that i enjoyed learning playing all the time. But as I got older, I realized guitars were so much easier pack around than a Hammond B3 and a Leslie speaker!!!! See ya Sunday!
“He’ll never leave us and he never has.” You can hear that she believes that in her music, even at 94. And Maple Leaf takes some serious chops!!! Well played sir!! God bless this family.
Drew, that was fantastic!! Your mother Mr D is a beautiful lady and great taste in music, I was just listening to how great thou art today. Enjoy your family time sir and GOD bless you folks!! God is great!!
What a treat! Wow... Drew has really grown since I first saw him! And having your mom play too... that was great! Russ says "hey" to you all! Stay safe.
Wow! Drew can really rock! And your Mother is no slouch at the piano either! Doyle, your sense of humor is always very gentle, sensitive, and hilarious!
Drew is a Godly young man who is a whiz of a musician! Glad to see Mrs. Dykes on camera. I can certainly see how all of you are musicians of the first caliber! How Great Thou Art! Amazing Grace and a fun ragtime tune. Thanks for this fine video sharing about your family!
Wonderful! Terrific piano playing young man! And G’ma reminds me of my Dad. Church organist and choir director and was playing his piano till his last earthly days at 96. Amen 🙏 👍
Thank you so much Doyle for sharing this with us. What a blessing to have your Mama with you, I know you do, but cherish each moment⚓Continue doing what you do⚓
Excellent! Drew definitely got the family music gene! So nice to finally see your Mom after hearing so many great stories about her. There really is a Martha of “Martha’s Kitchen!” Thanks Doyle!
Maple leaf rag... well done. My brother Danny (rip) used to play this. My attempts at arrangement for guitar have failed. That might be a challenge for you. Give mom a hug. Best regards to you all
Drew’s playing made me want to watch “The Sting” again, and your mom’s playing made me feel like I was at a Billy Graham crusade. I like those feelings. Thanks!
What a great video. It just so happens that this week I've been re-watching the last video where Drew & Doyle played MLR and was hoping they would play it again sometime in the future. I do sometimes think whether it's a just coincidence or God's timing at work when my hopes are answered like this. I'm really impressed with Drew's playing as well as Mrs Dykes. Thank you for sharing these personal moments with us over the world.
It actually really is. Mom remembered after we did the video. She was right Aubrey did get a new beautiful grand piano and ask if he could keep this one here at her place.
