Precious Repairing || Reattached Broken 25 year Old Model Lister Engine CrankShaft By Young Mechanic 

Sometimes you got do what you got to do, to get the motor going. Its not like you can expect an Amazon delivery in the back roads of Pakistan. We had a similar situation in 1985 our 1958 english double decker bus travelling from Kathmandu to London broke an axle in Turkey, we did the same thing to the axle took it to some little back yard shop and repaired it as hest he could. It worked got us through to London. About 5 weeks of tough driving the back roads of the world. I have to admire his skill, very easy to sit back and critise from the comfort of your lounge living in a 1st world country.

Seems a shame to spend so much time repairing an Item that should never be fitted back into an engine. The amount of off-centre in the bearing surface was astonishing.

There's no way that's ever gonna go back in an engine and it'll run properly. There's a good reason that engine parts are cast/machined in high-tech facilities to very tight tolerances, have heat treatment, are balanced and have ground bearing surfaces etc.

I’m impressed at the amount of deflection in the drill bits as they recenter themselves upon contact. But hey, almost half a million views in two weeks, that bit of foolery made them a few bucks.

A dial indicator and a 4 jaw chuck would have been nice, love to see it run, but excuse me if i hide behind a big tree or block of granite!

Since there's no quality control in the W/Shop , it shows there are a lot of mistakes, crankshaft concentercity is unacceptable, and usually, crankshaft shaft is hardened and by using torch for heating to soften the material for easy machining then crankshaft must be hardened back .

Похоже колено от какого-то древнего одноцилиндрового дизеля, который крутит водяную помпу или что-то подобное и запчасти на который уже не достать - другого обьяснения этому "занятию" нет. Вставку делают хрен пойми из чего и отработает это недолго от слова совсем, лопнет повторно - блок размолотит! А шлифовка болгаркой это просто нечто!!!Сопромат вещь упрямая и его не наеб... шь😂😂😂

COOL PROCESS! but won't heating parts of that crank change the properties of the metal? plus it was only heated on one side if it and how about balancing and the TDC won't be exact...

Replaced the stress relieving radius with a nice sharp corner.....at a newly cast (welded) joint....then made sure it all had 30+ thou runout.....then hit it with the angle grinder.....BEST I HAVE SEEN YET!!!!! Everyone (including the star of the show) knew it was never going to run again when the first thing he did was chuck the stub end right on the threads.

Education can take you to a certain level. But nothing beats practical experience. These ppl are excellent in their area of work and are indeed worth of sincere appreciation. 👌👌👌

Total BS. You can see at 20:58 the crank journal next to the welding is clearly not running true. This thing is going to vibrate itself to pieces within minutes. I hope this guy didnt charge anything for this crap.

It is better to make a new end of the crankshaft, cut the thread (make it look like you are making a bolt, and on the other a nut) and install it in place where the fault is.Then weld and grind to the desired diameter. Cut to the desired length by making the tapered end of the crankshaft thread for the nut.

In view of the many smartalecky answers, consider this. They have been doing this type of work for many decades now. They are still in business.

I repaired mine exactly like this. That was 4 yrs and 81,000 miles ago. Works fine

I wouldn't trust that on anything but a yard ornament. Misaligned and short weld depths is an accident waiting to happen.

That angle grinder was crazy lol.

My guess it goes in a motor that used for some type of agriculture equipment or a water pumping unit and revs below 2.5k rpm. the gear at one end of the shaft sits in oil in the pan and turns a bigger gear that turns the cam.Other side of the shaft the key slot fits into a flywheel .That’s one beast of a motor because of the size of the crankshaft and for1 piston which is a monster Piston . Crank it and put a warning sticker on the motor keep back 200 ft not responsible for bodily harm.

Now it is junk! ... but hey....like the "Star Wars" Jawa-Background-Talks during the brutal treatment of that once fine crank:...." Uhh-Tidi!"

Should’ve “shit canned” that crank and bought a new one. You’ll forever be changing bearings until eventually the entire motor is good for nothing but a boat anchor or scrap.
