The Predators have a strict code of honor. You don't kill anything unarmed, or females who are with child. You only put trophies in your trophy room that were worthy kills. Putting the challenge in, by only one-on-one combat, is the ultimate challenge. If you fail a hunt, leave no evidence. The story behind the pistol was explained in one of the comics. The Predator was following a pirate captain, excited by his ruthless nature. His crew turned on him, the Predator jumped in to help. Once the others were killed, the Captain understood and prepared for a 1-on-1 fight, but a surviving pirate shot him in the back. Predator killed that pirate and while the Captain was dying he pulled out his custom pistol and gave it to the Predator saying "Take it." The Predator gave Danny Glover's character the pistol as a symbol of the trophy that got away.

Predator 2 is definitely a perfect sequel. They way it expands the predator mythos is just *chefs kiss*. Absolutely adore this film and its stark contrast to the first one. City instead of jungle and all the designs. So many things I just love about this.

The original is definitely best, but Predator 2 is close. They expanded the lore some, but not a ton, the way it should be done. FAR better than "The Predator" (the recent movie) which went way overboard on the lore. They apparently didn't understand didt mystery can be good, and sometimes less is more. Expand the lore a little with each movie instead of huge exposition dumps. The old Predator movies are definitely not high quality masterpieces of cinema, but they're fun romps and are good at what they're trying to do. Not too much camp, but not too serious either.

Mike was recognized by the Elder Predator. And according to the laws of their people, since Mike was the victor, that makes him practically one of them. It's also why he was granted a trophy of his own.

Does that mean if he had of stayed on the ship they would have taken him back to their home planet and he could have married into a family and stuff or would they have just killed him once they realised

If you notice, the elder originally was just going to leave, but halts. Giving Harrigaln the gun was more of an afterthought.

The predator in this film takes an interest in Danny glover’s character due to his actions in the opening shootout, basically it’s a kindred spirit thing. As for the kid the predator was able to identify that the toy gun wasn’t real and thus had no reason to hurt him

Karl Smith That's not really the real reason. The actual reason is that killing a pregnant mother is the ultimate taboo for the Predator's race. They are 200% FORBIDDEN to kill the elderly, the deathly sick, children, and pregnant mothers. If one of their kind violates these taboos, they will INSTANTLY be labeled as a "Bad Blood" and have to answer for their crimes (either by turning themselves in to be executed by their own clan, or having an Enforcer hunt them down and kill them) (another way to be labeled a Bad Blood is if a Predator kills one of its own kind in cold blood).

Danny Glover is 6'5, at this point he was pretty ripped and easily 250 lb. Not a conventional action hero like Arnie but still a beast.

Did you notice the alien skull in the trophy room? Originally just an easter egg. Years later more than that, when finally the Alien vs Predator movies came. You should urgently check out the Lethal Weapon series. Are 4 movies with Mel Gibson and Danny Glover (whom you just got to know here). Fun, action and excitement. Best buddycop movies ever.

Your reaction in the end when all the other Predators appeared, priceless ^^, and yes there was an alien skull in that trophy case, and if I'm not mistaken, correct me please if i'm wrong, it was just a little homage towards the Alien franchise, not knowing it would actually create the extended universe of AvP Again, love the reaction of this well under appreciated movie ^^

Aliens existed in the same universe as the predator and were enemies. Thus, the alien skull in the trophy room. AVP, although a bit out of the way of the original backstory, suggested the Predators and Aliens existed on Earth long before humans. The Predators yearly ritual was to challenge the aliens one on one.

He took King Willie's skull as a trophy because he was an old man who had the nerve to stand down a predator with just a cane sword. If I were the predator, I'd be thinking the old woman in her apartment is a better trophy because she was just as old and only had a broom.

I've always liked this sequel, no matter what anyone says. Such a great follow-up to the original. From the jungle of Central America, to the urban jungle of LA, circa dystopian near-future 1997. If I remember correctly, they originally wanted Gary Busey's character to be a returning Dutch, but Arnold turned it down, so they changed it to the new character Keyes and brought Busey on to play the part. Want some candy?

Yet ANOTHER banger reaction! And back with the Predator as well! Some new things to take note of, and I'll be going more in-depth so buckle up! *-New weapons! The first movie had:* •Wrist Blades - the yautja's primary weapon, 2 blades located on their gauntlets. •The Plasma Caster- the lazer cannons they have mounted on their shoulders. •Wrist Detonator - the mini-nuke programmed into the left gauntlet, they only ever use it as a last resort or upon defeat to get rid of their tech once they die. *The new weapons featured here are:* •The Combi Stick - an extendable spear-like weapons that can be used as a melee or long-ranged weapon. •Net Gun - a projectile weapon that shoots out a metallic net that constrict the prey trapped within it and cutting them up in the process. •Smart Disk - a disc-shaped weapon that can be used as a bladed melee weapon or thrown like a frisbee to slice prey in half. They also return to the thrower like a boomerang. *-The have different modes of vision in that they can switch to in their helmets.* *-A little glimpse into their code of honor shown in the movie:* They don't hunt prey that are not deemed a challege, so people who are disabled; pregnant; weak; children; and sick are safe. Unless of course, they attack anyway. *-The trophies they collect are mainly skulls.* *-Another glimpse of their code:* By the end of the movie when the City Hunter Predator was defeated, Greyback (the head yautja of the group) gifts Mike a flintlock pistol (which has a date on it that suggests that not only are they diverse in hunting prey across the galaxies, but they have also been here for a long time) as a sign of respect. That's all the new info so far, I'll keep on updating more as the movies progress! P.S. Fun Facts: The City Hunter is a Yautja(the name of their species)on his first solo hunt, the other predators are just there to supervise.The Jungle Hunter was an elite member of their kind who had done a great number of hunts before. The weapons the predator use become visible when it uses them. The cloaking technology doesn't cover them when they are in use. The City Hunter can tell by the weapons signature that it's not a real weapon, hence why he doesn't attack the kid. "Since when can Predators do that?" Mainly, the predators use thermal vision to track a persons body heat. However, humans aren't the only things that predators hunt. Probably wouldn't have worked on Dutch/Arnie(since he wasn't using lights or anything that it could track). In the anthology short stories "If It Bleeds", we continue Harrigan's story of encountering the Predators(along with Adam Baldwin's character from Keye's team.)

A Predators weapons are always different to the individual. Most of their arsenal have been collected over the years as rewards and initiations as they climb the ranks as a Hunter, being rewarded items, body markings and even their armor along the way. The Elder Predator throwing the Flintlock Pistol to Harrigan was his reward for defeating a Predator.

The cemetery scene really shown the character of the Predator. It wanted Mike to have Danny's necklace. Most likely because the Predator knew they were brothers in arms. This was one of the first times we see the Predator's honor system.

now we in a different kind of jungle :D love that they changed the scenery like this :) you could see the Alien skull in this one, he has that among his trophies :D its really cool how they always demonstrate the fact that the Predator evolves and adapts, they improve themselves after every venture :) like in the first movie his vision was insufficient so he upgraded here and got more variations :) we also learned here more about their philosophy and the way they operate, kill only those who are threatening you or those who are worthy adversaries, they have some honor, with their level of development they could just invade Earth and destroy humans but they dont wanna do that, they love the sport, and we can see that they have been doing this for quite some time :) ye exactly dont forget to watch the first AvP movie after this one to keep the continuation, then AvP 2, the 3rd Predator movie came after that, and then the last Predator movie :) AvP movies are more in the Predator franchise than the Alien one, they work for the sake of this franchise :)

In the Predator's trophy room there is a Xenomorph skull but also in a bit of context history there is a T-Rex skull showing they've been hunting here for quite a long time.

For some reason I'd love to see a Predator movie set in 1930s NY in the middle of a summer heat wave. Two mobs going at it. It'd pretty much be this movie but with a different time and setting. That or one set during the Vietnam War or WWII in the Pacific.

In the 80s and 90s it was a common trope of Hollywood screenwriters to do "LA plus 10 years = warzone of gang crime out of control." You'll find this pattern in many movies of the period. I guess it was an attempt to do social commentary towards what felt at the time like an explosion in crime rates, but in reality that never happened. Violent crime rates actually peaked in the early 90s and have been in decline ever since (with a small uptick in the last few years.)

Tim incase you didn't know, the predators hunt the most dangerous species to gain a higher rank on their world, the skills are their trophies and they have an honor code, they won't kill everything only who they seem Worthy to fight and who attack them first, they won't attack injured, sick or pregnant, oh and if you're wondering why this pred has more tech, it's cause he's a higher rank, the more they rank up the better tech they get

Actually, based on lore I've looked at, Predators prefer to ditch the high-tech stuff as they rank up, and this one was in late adolescence(for a Predator anyway, 300+ years and all) undergoing a trial of adulthood.

It’s a great movie showing the Urban Hunt for Predators. It’s a great popcorn movie. The old pistol was a trophy given out of respect. It also began the Lore for the Predators showing that they visited earth long before and will return.

31:11 I have theory for that. The Predators came to Earth from long time ago. I believe they studied the humans and their environment first. Later, they waited for the right time to set a game for the hunt and the challenger will win them all.

This movie made me love the predator series more because i kinda fell in love with the lore. How the predators were hunters with a strict code of conduct and honor. You don't kill the unarmed. You don't kill a pregnant woman. If they are killed by their chosen prey vengeance is not needed because the prey won the fight fair and square. 1 on 1 fights are just that,1 on 1, cause the other predators were there on the ship and could have intervened to help the other but that wouldn't have been the fair and honorable thing.

Danny Glover was popular in the 90s, for the "Lethal Weapon" saga, so when Arnold rejected the sequel of Predator, they offered it to Glover.

This was fun in the theater! I think when people saw the Alien skull in the trophy case we all lost our minds. I'm not exactly happy with the Alien vs Predator movies but, hey. I know a lot of people love them so I'm glad. I mean, I enjoy The Predator but I'm the only one I know that likes it. 😂 So...yeah. Great reaction, and while this isn't quite as good as the first, it's still fun and the Predator is badass. I think, somewhere, I read that this Predator was supposed to be a younger, meaner but less experienced one. Meh, I don't know where I read that, but it was around the time the movie came out so, oy I feel old!

City hunter is my favorite predator out of all the movies where as Jungle hunter and berserker used to be my favorites, but city hunter has the coolest weapons and design imo, plus introduced me to the combo stick in predator lore and the AvP games.

One weekend as a teen. Due to bad weather, living in the sticks and only 3 channels of TV. Me and a friend watched this at least 6 times. Our stance ended up being "won't say its better than 1 but won't say 1 is better than it either". Our biggest complaint was a lack of Arnold. Something we knew we couldn't judge it too harshly for. After a decade or 2 and alot of exposure to the expanded lore. I don't even think its a complaint. I would even say lack of Arnold was actually a good thing. Chaining a franchise that can literally be set anywhere at anytime to a single actor. Is at the very least short sighted.

Amazing sequel Predator 2 directed by Stephen Hopkins starring Danny Glover, Gary Busey, Rubén Blades, Maria Conchita Alonso, Bill Paxton and music score by Alan Silvestri. By the way the actors who played Danny and Leona Rubén Blades and Maria Conchita Alonso both are amazing singers in latin america, Rubén Blades better known for his songs: Desiciones, Pedro Navaja, Amor y Control and Maria Conchita Alonso better known for her songs, Acariciame, Una Noche de Copas, O Ella o Yo. The Predators hold honor in high regard, that's why in the first movie the predator decided to fight Dutch hand to hand. It's also the reason the other predators allowed Mike to live, Mike beat the predator one on one.

Well, the cop had a little more to go with when he was told about the previous incident (the original film), so he was aware there was a bomb of some kind on the Predator's person. Also, I think this particular Predator was like a teenager compared to the original.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is tall and strong but he had difficulties to beat the Predator from a physical point of view , while Danny Glover ,of medium height and thin managed to give more fight to the Predator ! Physical strength does not always guarantee victory against an opponent!

There was a video game on ps2 that was pretty much the same story as this one with a few differences. It was called predator concrete jungle. It was a very good game.

The young cop that threw the golf ball he was in aliens which is ironic considering how about the aliens in that movie and the alien in this movie collide 21:31 Predator had just said "now you will die" just in case you didn't catch that In the trophy room you'll find that the Xenomorphs Skull is up there too They honor the dead and those who have defeated one of their own telling them that they have earned the right to not be hunted and the right to live, and as a way of showing that they give them a piece of weaponry either their own or a weapon from the past especially the fact that they've been hunting on earth since the dinosaurs

I can sum this film up as a Lethal Weapon remake with Predators in it, but this time Danny Glover is the loose cannon; the story continues in Predators, The Predator, Predator Stalking Shadows and Predator Hunting Grounds

It's funny but in all movies with a Predator (or Yautja, the name of their race) I'm always routing for them, even when the humans are involved. They're just so cool looking, and their weapons are just awesome ! And honestly each time they are killed because of their honor code, otherwise they would have won each encounter.
