Wolf was honestly one of the best predators ever shown. He was a full honored Yautja whose mission was to clean up the Hunting ground, meaning that he was one of the most elite Predators. He was deadly, he didn't refuse the hunt (When the police saw him, in that moment, he started a hunt, and that's why he skinned him), he was able to get rid of Xenomorphs with ease, and he even display a code of honor until the end when he decided to face the PredAlien in hand to hand combat for being a worthy prey. A shame the movie wasn't as good, but every bit of Wolf was great.
As far as the predator of this film, appropriately named Wolf, he initially is hoping to clean the mess up in a stealthy manner. Otherwise he’d have just blown the entire town up, it keeps with the Yuatja honor code system and adds to their not being inherently evil
Wolf the Predator was a cleaner of worlds 🌎 If you noticed his melted face and missing tusk is from his previous xenomorph encounters. His weapons like The Alien Tail Whip, Power Glove, Dual Cannons, Blue Acid, & Laser Grid were so dope. The Predator def saved this movie and was the best part. Fav Precator since Predator 1
I like this better than its predecessor simply because it's more respectful to the Predator, has a truly terrifying antagonist and doesn't hold back on the violence and gore; this would've been so much better without the unnecessary human drama; the main Predator in this, dubbed "Wolf", is named after Harvey Keitel's character "Mr Wolfe" in Pulp Fiction, because they're both "Cleaners"; the main monster, dubbed a "Predalien", is a young queen, which is why it can spawn its own army so quickly, and like its xeno brethren, it inherits genetic traits and memories from its host; the main Predator in this is an Elite, or highly experienced hunter, while the ones in the previous films have ranged from Youngblood to Blooded; the Predator, or "Yautja" caste system is primarily based on hunting experience
corey johnston You left out a pretty important detail about Predator Elites: What it takes to BECOME an Elite. You have to wipe out an entire Xenomorph hive, plus its Queen, all by yourself without any outside help whatsoever. And not only do you have to do it one time, you have to do so at least THREE TIMES.
@@kevinnorwood8782, in AVP 2010, the player Predator, Dark, becomes an Elite after completing the Elite Trials at the start of the Predator campaign; having royal blood certainly has its advantages
One of the criticisms was that the film was so damn dark, and by dark I'm talking about how literally dark the scenes were, couldn't see much lol and honestly I was only rooting for the Predator, the human characters kinda sucked it was so hard to care for them -.- when they were flying away from the nuke explosion the movie's like "Will our heroes make it out alive?" and I was just like "I don't care" Anyways, The Predator (2018) is kind of forgettable to be honest, but if you want to check it out for yourself you should feel free to do so, judge for yourself :P but I would recommend Predators (2010)
G jr Quill Honestly, I kind of agree with you about not caring much about the human characters. The only ones I honestly cared about were the soldier and her daughter.
The Predator should be considered non-canon because it goes against the lore of the first two films. I mean come on, they're literally weaponizing autism.
Yes, this movie would have been so much better had they just had it in the budget for a godamnned 60-watt bulb. And with the way they were suddenly dropping like flies I'm pretty sure the creators stopped caring about the human characters near the end of the film.
The first time I saw this on blu ray was amazing, it was always so dark and hard to see, but blu ray helped out so much with the dark issues. And 💯 Predators (2010) that is one of my favorites of the franchise
Honestly was abit underwhelmed by this film, it does have its highlights though and its enjoyed by its fans, thanks for giving it a chance. Wonder how many years before they reboot trying Aliens vs Predator Again.
Never had a good opinion about this movie. Back then it was barely as fun as the first one to me, nowadays I would say it falls behind. Almost everything is uninteresting, characters you care little about (somewhat surprising given the greater violence of this movie). The Wolf Predator is liked a lot, even though he is suprisingly inept at his "cleaning" job (he leaves almost as much evidence as he attempts to destroy). The first one at least had a somewhat interesting backround story, and Lex was at least a sonewhat interesting character. Little for me to rescue from Requiem (the Predalien, perhaps)...
Requiem is legitimately one of the worst films that I’ve ever seen. Only positive that I can say about it is that most of the practical effects are solid, at least when the film allows you to see them.
What I loved about this film was showing more of the Predator technology and potential home planet. My only issue with this one is the terrible human drama plot that should have been completely cut out, and have strictly an Alien Vs Predator. L A monster battle with humans screaming in the background. It would have been a risky move but I think it would have paid out and have us get to know the Wolf Predator and know more about Predators in general.
It wouldn’t have. A movie with only some ugly ass monsters fighting for 2 hours would only have a very niche appeal with hardcore fans. Don’t get me wrong, I’d watch a 2 hour movie about nothing but Xenomorphs and Yautjas fighting, but that’s just not something that you can sell to general audiences who are going to need some human characters to relate to.
@@windowsVD Oh dont worry, the general audience would have a conntection to the film. They would be conntecting with all the screaming humans running around and getting killed by the monsters or sheer stupidity for 2 hours haha
The human frama would have been fine had they wrote it better and made some of them more likeable. The main woman and her daughter were okay, but i feel like they were trying to go for that Ripley and Newt kinda deal.
The idea behind this movie was honestly great, (I especially loved the Predator bits) but what they made of it sucked major balls. The humans are annoying and I did not care that all of them died in the end. The first movie was so well lit they made the scenes here so dark you could barely see anything. And gore for the sake of gore? A big no go for me. That scene with the pregnant woman and the babies for example - absolutely redundant. The first movie may have been a more romantizied rendition but I like it's soul way better than Requiem.
I nearly choked on my drink when you said that there had to be '10 or so' by the time that 'Wolf' reached the hospital. While I'm not sure about the in-universe biology of it, every pregnant woman that the Predalien infested birthed from 4 to 10 xenomorph drones and it went through the entire prenatal wing. At a guess I'd say that there were still dozens left when the nuke dropped, not counting the battle royale on the roof.
I remember seeing this in theaters with my late uncle, he was the one who introduced me to the alien franchise so despite this not being an overly great movie it will always have a special place for me
There are currently no more Alien films planned after Alien Covenant. However, there is an Alien television show co-produced by Ridley Scott (director of Alien, Prometheus, and Covenant) coming to FX within the next couple years that takes place around the same time as Prometheus.
@timotheereacts 78 kills total 42 unknown in the explosion. 23 male 8 female 4 predators and predalien according to dead meat. Also this is from the unrated cut so idk how many that takes away
its possible that was the Predator home planet though we cant rule out the possibility that they might have more planets under their control :) one of the main issues with this movie is definitely its lighting and the way its shot, it makes it harder to experience properly :D we could really use more movies with Predator where humans arent really involved so we can focus on whats important :P this movie is definitely one of the most savage though xD
This movie has it's issues (for me it's the lighting. Movie is so dark all the time), but I still really like it. It's the first time we get to see an Elite ranked Predator do some work. The Predators in the first AvP were unblooded newbies and the Predators from P1 and P2 were Blooded. Wolf (Predator is named after the character of the same name from Pulp Fiction) is such a cool Predaotr and I love how easily killing Xenomorphs is for him, with the exception of the abomination, the Predalien. In my opinion, this is where both the Predator movies and Alien movies stop being that good. the 2010 movie "Predators" is ok, but the 2018 "The Predator" is horrible. And the newest Alien movies have all been way too boring and not fun to watch imo.
Sadly, one of the actors in this, Johnny Lewis, developed severe mental issues. He ended up murdering an elderly woman and her dog, before jumping to his death from an upper story (attic) window. The entire thing was very sad. He was talented.
I seem to give these movies a lot more slack than most people. I'm definitely not saying they're cinematic masterpieces, but they're fun and interesting enough for what they are... simple popcorn entertainment. My biggest problem with this one was the lighting. Overall, it's just too dark. If it was better lit during the dark scenes (which is most of the movie) it would be better. But there were some interesting ideas in it. I also give Predators (which I think is next on your Alien/Predator list?) more credit than most people seem to give it. But as I said once before, I'm glad you're giving them all a chance at least! Great reaction! Looking forward to whatever comes next!
Originally I thought the Predator that was after the Predalien was the King, but its actually one of the Predators nicknamed the "Hunters" and those things that escaped the ship that look like a spider are called Facehuggers.
Funny that you mentioned a Kill Counter, cause there's a whole channel that counts the kills of every horror movie or movie that involves deaths, the channel's called Dead Meat
Hey Tim, great video as always but I'll just get strait to the point and give out some more extra info! *-New weapons* Not as much featured here, but the new ones that were are: *Dissolving Liquid - a blue liquid the yautja can carry around and use to dissolve objects for a number of uses, including destroying evidence. *Power Punch Glove - as ridiculous as the name may sound, this blunt weapon/tool is extremely powerful and handy to get give a little boost or get a yautja out of a hard place (literally). *Whip - a bladed chain whip capable of slicing targets in pieces with enough force (Fun Fact: Some of them are made out of the tails of xenomorphs too!). *Plasma Pistol - essentially a handheld version of the Plasma Caster. It can also be crafted FROM a Plasma Caster like what was shown in the movie. *More about yautja roles* If you noticed, the Yyutja sent to investigate the crashed ship (this one's name is "Wolf") kills people regardless if they are worthy or not just from noticing him. That is because Wolf wasn't sent to hunt and collect trophies, but instead to basically "clean-up the mess". Another commenter here has already stated that he is named after a character in Pulp Fiction who 'cleans-up' the bloody mess left behind, and Wolf is the Predator equivalent of that. Go in > clean up the mess > head out; and no witnesses. *They can have two Plasma Casters* As shown in the film, Wolf takes one of the fallen yautja's shoulder cannon and mounts it on his right shoulder, so they can have two! *Their home planet* You just saw what is possibly the only live-action glimpse that we'll ever get of Yautja Prime, the Predators' home planet. That is all the new information showcased in this movie about the yautjas (I didn't include the Predalien because it's technically not a yautja)! In "Predators" we'll be delving more into their code of honor and other interesting things! Once again, great video Tim! Take care and God bless!
Also your reactions to the Predalien implanting multiple xenomorphs is priceless it's one of the most surprising reactions from your channel so far 😅 I'm ruined inside
I mean I actually liked it when I saw it in theatres. Thought it was much better than the first one, and much more captured the feeling of the original alien and predator movies.
Yeah, while it's not nearly as thematically rich as the Alien films, it at least nails the body horror associated with that series. And as a Predator sequel, it's no better or worse than Predator 2, Predators, or The Predator.
I was in the cinema when the movie came out. I demanded my money back. The movie was darker than the long night in Game of Thrones. I didn't recognize anything. And certainly not from the hybrid. Only outlines were recognizable. Was then later lightened up a bit on DVD. I think it was kept so dark because the effects were lousy. Just cheaper to produce.
I like how this one was a sci-fi action but I watched it in theatres and your facial expressions in some scenes say otherwise haha. Great reaction, this film is BRUTAL but one of my favorites in the installment. Have you reacted to Predators yet I can't remember but it's top-tier.
Just watched your scream 4 reaction and it was once again a great video. I thought it would be a good idea if you watched scream 5 with itsaprimate and mellverse whenever it’s available since you said it would be a good idea to watch scream movies in a group.
Animals just have a better sense then humans do, and dogs have one hell of a sense of smell, so it doesn't surprise me that dogs bark when there is danger.
the real problem with both these movies is that the humans will be the focus, which is a big issue. When we think of what a movie like this will be most fans want most of the focus to be on the two titular species and the humans secondary, if at all... Hollywood then and now is not going to give us a monster movie revolving around the monsters, it will always be based around the humans and the other two will be secondary now if you focus around a small group of interesting humans (say a lead or two who is compelling and several character actors with personality and presence) and have them survive the various encounters between each other and both species, then it can really work (the first 4 Alien movies, Predator 1, 2 and 2010 all did that well, even if the overall movie in some wasn't the greatest... personally i like all of them in that regard and overall i like them too) the first did that ok, even if the Alien/Predator show downs weren't long enough... the lead was somewhat compelling {or grew to be} many of the secondary characters were cool or funny (and Lance Henriksen will always be bad a55) and there was one cool Predator (the Hunter) and Alien (Scarface, who i wished showed up more), plus the Queen at the end... they were distinctive from the others and had personalities you felt for Requiem was a pitch black mess in a movie like this, you need at most 4 interesting human characters to be in the entire movie (unless you can do it right like Aliens, Predator or Predators 2010) the rest can be cut out and let the monsters do what we all want them to do
While i can't defend it from its critics. As most complaints are completely legit. Had a few more redeeming qualities to me than it seems to have for most. First is completely specific to me. Its location Is a place I used to go hunting with my dad. Then they topped that by making the first victims a father son hunting duo. Better believe it made the trip that year. Now the legit likes. Biggest reason was it redeemed the performance of the Predators from part 1. This was the baddest predator put on film imo. I also liked seeing the Xenomorph in a familiar setting......the few times i could see them. Had always wanted to see the predalien on film. Lastly, its just batshit crazy. They brutally killed characters who seemingly were being setup as survivors. Started the film with killing a child. The scene of the predalien in the maternity ward was just....WTF is this. Went straight up "nuke it from orbit' on a entire town. Its not quite as dark as some comics have took the story over the years but it's damn close.
fun fact: the predalien (the hybrid) was actually a young queen since other xenos were protecting her and she could impregnate with her inner jaw and also she was nicknamed "chet" in production of this movie
In total there were 78 kills in this movie, 31 humans on screen, 4 predators, the predator alien and 42 humans not on screen (in the nuke), and some aliens but those were not counted. PS: all credits go to the yt channal ‘Dead meat’
This movie needs to be watched on blu ray, or higher quality than that. It’s so dark it needs to be watched in the highest quality only. I had a digital copy, but it has nothing against blu ray and the big screen tv. It was almost a different movie the first time I saw it on blu ray like 10 years ago. You definitely need to check out Predators (2010) that’s my favorite in the series. The latest one from a few years ago, changed genres to horror comedy or action comedy and it’s just not right, and they should have just stuck to the winning formula,

The hospital scene is cursed. To this day i still can decide if i like it or not.
It looks like you're watching the theatrical version. The extended explains a bit more. The Predator ship that crash lands to earth is a smaller ship that broke off from the larger ship that had the Elder Predator. The distress call out for Wolf Predator didn't know what happened until he put on a dead Predator's mask to see what he saw. Wolf then geared up to hunt the Pred-Alien and also act as a cleaner to destroy any Predator and xenomorph evidence. But obviously the Aliens got out of hand. But Wolf was the ultimate Predator to fight the Pred-Alien hybrid. Just wish the lighting was better. I had to turn the brightness of my TV 📺 all the way to see 👀 the action. -OG
Pretty brutal movie it's filmed extremely dark even if you turn up your light levels... I like a lot of the concepts in it ,the story is cool ,but some of it was over done, I still enjoy watching it .. Now you know where the humans got the pulse rifles in the alien movies...lol Supposedly anyway . I recommend the movie "Outbreak"
I watched these movies and the terminator series when I was a kid Probably way too young to fully process it all. AVPr is Insane! Usually kids are safe unless it's this movie or Hereditary The darkness is the only thing that overly bugs me. Fun fact: During filming a cameraman noticed this issue but I think the director said "it's no big deal let's shoot the next scene!" I think i'm the only person who unironically loves this movie. Despite the campy acting from the younger cast It takes the concept of AvP and makes it one of the Hardest R rated movies ever. This series has brought the most shocked reactions haha it's great. The shopping cart thing is just something homeless people use. This Yautja named "Wolf" is hands down my favourite in the series Slimmer and older but with experience and tools at his disposal. The Predalien is seen as an abomination which is why this yautja was so deadset on killing it. Most movies are so hardpressed to do an R-rating let alone kill kids so messed up. The embryos implanted in pregnant women is straight evil 0.0 I so hope another AvP movie will be made in the near future
I liked this better..I don't get ppl , I know more about " yautja / Predator " lore than 95% of ppl...and none if these movies bother me....I like them all....the hunter predators from the first 2....the unblooded teens from AVP1 , the Berserkers from Predators....The Ferrell Predator from the new one...they were all awesome...hell they git the lore about how the predators got the pistol from the humans wrong I'm the last one..still loved it and didn't bother me at all....in lore tge French guy who owned the pistol was a friend to a Predator he got killed and his Predator friend took his pistol ....believe he became an elder Predator , from the end of the 2nd one...and Danny Glover reminded him of his friend so he gave it to him as a trophy/gift....ppl are way too picky...remind me of butt hurt Star Wars fans...the last 3 were really good but fans hated them cause a woman was the lead was stronger than Luke ....the geeks couldn't jerk off to Luke posters anymore..that's the ONLY reason " everyone " hated thr movie....weird part is..like this one is everyone iv heard of and every reactor loves those movies anfmd this one ...weird how ppl wanna fit In with the cult/40 yr ol nerds...
This is the best AVP ever produced. Wolf is so *ucking dope, a cold blooded killer and he would teard apart Berserker like it's nothing. This was the first time we saw experienced Protoss for a change cuz they're always a unblooded newbies except P1 and P2 movies where they're young blooded, so we saw how much Elites are strong, brutal, skilled and experienced. They'll never make a new movie good like this one and I'll never forget this one cuz it was my childhood's the best "wow" movie. ❤️😁
That PredAlien and those Xenomorph are the most disgusting and deadlest alien creatures ever, I always enjoyed The Predator very much as they have a code. I'm glad you enjoyed this darkest AVP movie, if only they could have make it more brighter.
I gotta say your review was probably the best part of rewatching this movie, not to say it's a terrible movie it had some cool ideas for the most part but it had a bit of a stale story and it needed better lighting but overall not the worst by far.
I honestly like the first AVP better. I really liked Lex and the setting was awesome. Also (this is a bit morbid) but the actor who played Ricky died a horrible, untimely death so I can't rewatch it because of that. 😕
My own personal opinion is both AVP 2004 and AVP Requiem 2007 are the best sci fi films ever. But I wonder when the third film will come in the next 15 years?
I was saying, not the kid, too when I first saw this, but yeah, it's one of those movies haha. There's some things they did right in this, but yeah it's mostly just an ok movie, I would probably be quicker to watch the first than this one, simply because it's the first one I saw and liked most, so it has that nostalgia factor. I do really like that one earlier scene when the guy is watching the predator dispose of the bodies and his radio goes off and the predator camouflages and the eyes flash, That's some classic predator stuff there.
Christmas is closer and closer. We are waiting the movie "Jingle all the way" (1996) with Arnold Schwarzenegger - only uncut version. It's much better.
The big alien is called predalien is a young queen or prinses that can make aliens without face hugger and this predator is called wolf because he leaves no evidence behind
The one thing they really got right with this film was the pred tech sound effects. Why was that so often the first one I will never understand. And honestly if they could have just dropped to the stupid teen drama angle this probably would have been pretty good
19:54 i think this1 can do the job of the little ones and like it seems this1 puts more then 1alien egg in her or alters the babies DNA, making a hybrid
just remembered something, react to Specie's movie series its about alien but different, earth gets finally message and its a DNA code so they make tests and create hybrid it looks human but despite human side hybrid has animal instincts that are bad
Its really sad becoz if its not too fcking dark we could have seen how great a full fledged warrior yautja hunts They done did wolf dirty with this dark ass movie Wolf be slaying this aliens like cockroach😂 And wolf vs scar predalien ahhh such a banger ❤
