Predator Generator Running My House AND Air Conditioner???

How long does it run the two air conditioner for before needing to refill gas? & also can I use it directly without need anything like plugging my air conditioner directly into the socket or I need some kind of protector? By the way I would be running two 5000 btu air conditioner

Make sure your generator is 15-20 feet away from your house and away from doors, windows, and vents. Having a carbon monoxide detector is very important against generator safety. Some people also allow children to go near the portable generator which could pose risks. We need to keep an eye on our children making sure that they are not near the portable generator so they won’t get electrocuted or burned by the generator which is dangerous. It says on the manual that we should also keep children away at all times from the portable generator to avoid injuries. Generators pose electrical risks. If you need to use your generator during wet weather, you need a generator tent to protect your generator from getting wet. Don’t let your generator get wet. Keep your generator dry and before using your generator, please make sure your hands and your generator is dry. Everything that is said on the generator’s operating manual should not be ignored. Never smoke cigarettes near the generator. Please keep flammable things away from the generator. Never overload your generator too. Your generator can catch fire. Never ever try to plug a generator cord into a wall outlet to avoid back feeding. Back feeding your generator is dangerous. Always turn on your generator first before plugging in appliances and shut off the appliances before turning your generator off. Use a heavy duty cord for your generator and the cord should not be worn out. All the instructions should be followed carefully. Never refuel your generator while it’s running. It can cause fire if fuel spills while your generator is hot. You should turn off your generator and let it cool off before refueling it. This is only a reminder for everyone’s safety of using generators. Agree. I connect my 4375 Predator via an inlet box and interlock switch to my home. I of course am not running central AC or the Jacuzzi, but it powers everything I need. You have to use a little more power management with a smaller generator (don't have all the high energy users on the same 120V line). I have it so most of the steady current draw as well as a 5000 BTU widow AC is on one 120V line and the microwave is on the other 120V line). You can move the breakers around in your breaker box to do this (the breakers alternate between line 1 and line 2 vertically).

How many gallons of gas an hour does it burn tho

@@The_Happy_Aviation_Enthusiast as a firefighter in a hurricane area I couldn’t stress what you’ve said enough. Unfortunately a lot of people buy generators not from a place of strength but in a place of weakness trying to alleviate the stress of what could be the lowest point of their life so they already aren’t thinking clearly enough. I’m usually not for red tape but I think people should have to purchase a carbon monoxide detector with a generator in my area. We sent 17 people to the ER last night and 3 didn’t make it. 10-$20 could very well save someone’s life. The thing about CO is that you won’t know about it, you just won’t wake up.

@@The_Happy_Aviation_Enthusiast there’s also a lot of youtube DIY videos showing people how to put a generator in a plastic shed for weather and or sound proofing that are completely unsafe and everyone is commenting saying how great it is but no body is pointing out how they have broken every safety rule you could imagine. They put them right up on the house, exhaust right by a window or eve of the roof, right next to the gas meter where you could never shut it off if it caught fire, pretty much anything you could image they are doing it and people just don’t realize how unsafe it is.

The audio is weird. I have the same generator and it’s not nearly that loud when you’re standing next to it. If I’m that far from my unit you can barely hear it.

If you're getting prepared with a generator, then getting prepared with fuel storage ought to be included.

Hurricane Sally was the other day we ran 18k btu , 12k btu , 2 refrigerators , 2 TVs , satellites internet off of the 4374 for 12 hours before refilling. They are great and this is first hand info

@@wanwan965 same here and I ran it 2 days straight didn’t even stop it to put gas in it did the oil thing so I was good to go and it never gave me a hiccup I really see the value in these generators!

I recently bought this generator. I had a smaller one and that one could run my 2 air conditioners most of the day before needing gas. For that generator I refilled the gas once per day. My power was out for 7 days during the heat of the summer. I shut it off at night because it was loud but 1 tank kept me cool all day long. This generator is bigger so I think it should be no problem running air conditioning all day and probably all night. I shut my generators off at night and recently just bought a kickstarter solar generator from Bluetti for nights that is supposed to be better than the Titan. We have lost power multiple times for days, and heating and cooling is the most important issue. But generators are large and when our power has gone out, there are almost always trees crossing the road in every direction so I needed both a gas generator and solar generator but this one excites me. Haven't gotten to try it out during a power outage yet but I am ready.

It has a 5 gallon tank, and it is supposed to run 12 hours at 50% load.

@@truncellitoj My predator 9000 has an 8 gallon tank and I average 17.5 hours @ 50% load last hurricane season.

Central air requires a fan blowing everywhere or not at all, and the cost of running that is sometimes the same as the cooling (compression) cost.

Just buy a propane kit to. Dual fuel it.

You have to unplug everything, shut it down and refuel it. It’s recommended you give generators a rest for a few hours anyway. Even if it’s converted to propane or natural gas and it has a large supply feeding it, it’s still a good idea to shit it down for a while but a lot of people say they run them for 2-3 days nonstop with no trouble.

@@stevesmith9221 a nice alternative is the inverter generator. It does not have to run at 3600 RPM, so it has "ECO mode", which means it runs slower and quieter when less power is needed, and automatically adjusts according to the load.

@@PeterLawton interesting. I knew they were quieter but didn't know they ran at variable speed. Thx for info. Our well has two pumps that might run 10 minutes a day. Running 3000 extra wattage for that, wasn't practical.
