Predicting new characters for the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC Booster Course Pass! Since the reveal of Birdo and the new Yoshi's Island track, there is news about new characters coming to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe from past entries... possibly from Mario Kart Double Dash, Mario Kart 7 and even from Mario Kart Tour!
So in this video, I'll share what characters I want to see in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and discuss why I believe they have a good chance making it in!

I think it's a lot more likely that we see Pauline alongside a course based on the original Donkey Kong arcade game, as that was her first ever appearance, and her return to Odyssey as well as the theming of New Donk City was all inspired by that game

For me -Dixie Kong (Light) -Kamek (Light) -Pauline (Medium) -Diddy Kong (Medium) -Funky Kong (Heavy) -Petey Piranha (Heavy) Probably this is the most balanced entry, since King Bomb-omb would be heavy too. Honestly with 7 new characters would be the best roster, since the 7th for me would be King Bomb-omb

Here is what I want: 1) Kamek - With Kamek having some files in the original game and not used, now is the time for Nintendo to re open the file, finish off Kamek and add him into the game. Not to mention with the Mario Bros Movie coming up and how much of a big role he has there, the inclusion would be very great. 2) Pauline - Same reasons as you said. 3) Dixie - Now, you did include Diddy and Funky Kong and most likely one of them will least make the cut but what if Dixie was a backup plan? She is loved by the community and plays a big role in the Donkey Kong Country games. If Funky does not get in and Dixie makes in it, I be fine with that. I rather have Funky himself but Dixie is not a bad option. 4) Kirby - Now who said any first party characters could not come? Kirby would fit in considering he has had a racing game (Kirby’s Air Ride GCN), plus he was racing on Rainbow Road in Rosalina’s Trailer for Super Smash Bros Wii U / 3DS. 5) Petey Piranha - Same reasons as you said. 6) SNES DK JR - Considering how he only appears in Super Mario Kart and Mario Kart Tour…what better way to end of the roster with a classical favourite. It be really cool driving on the courses with the 2D sprited character.

Honestly, I think your predictions were nearly spot on. My guess is that Kamek will take Chargin Chuck's spot, and honestly he deserves to finally get it, but other than that, the 2 Kongs, King Bob-Omb, Pauline and Petey were my picks too! Honestly, can't wait to be able to play as Bowser, King Boo, King Bob-Omb and Petey in one game!

Evidence is out there that the Mario and Peach derivatives will be taken out of the slots they occupy and go back to their "base" characters, except for their baby forms. With that said, and also accounting for potential consolidation among the Inklings and Villagers and a possible expansion to a 7th row, here's my wishlist for new MK8DX characters. -Birdo -Diddy Kong(Wave 5) -Funky Kong(Wave 5) -Kamek(Wave 6) -Pauline(Wave 6) -Petey Piranha(Wave 6) Seventh Row -Wiggler -Nabbit -Chargin' Chuck -King Bob-Omb -Hammer Bro(Boomerang, Fire and Ice variants) -Samus(Zero suit variant) -Captain Falcon If those last two aren't acceptable, then Peachette and Cheep-Cheep.

So I've got 2 lists of 6 characters (because we'll likely get 7 total as each row in the character select is 7 characters long) one list is realistic and the other is purely what I want. Realistic: Funky Kong, Diddy Kong, Petey Piranha, Pauline, Kamek, Hammer Bro (with boomerang, fire and ice alts), Funky, Diddy and Petey were in previous Mario Karts and Petey fits with the new Piranha Plant Cove track in Tour, Pauline is extremely popular, Kamek and Hammer Bro were both scrapped from previous games with Kamek scrapped from MK64 and MK8 and Hammer Bro was scrapped from MKWii What I want: Funky Kong, Pauline, Wiggler, King Bob-omb, Hammer Bro, Charging Chuck

Small Correction, Funky Kong was not added to tour alongside any track. Dino Dino Jungle released in October 2019 and Funky wasn’t until May 2020

I think that they’re probably going to try and represent as many different games as possible with the characters, much like the tracks themselves. If they go down this route Pauline and Funky Kong would be almost guaranteed since Nintendo loves representing Tour and Wii, but I don’t see them doing three double-dash characters if they’re doing them by game, especially since Birdo is the first time Double-dash has even been mentioned in the BCP.

Considering that probably Metal Mario, Tanooki Mario, Cat Peach and PGP are gonna be listed under there normal selfs, that leaves up 3 more spaces for new drivers. The likely candidates are: Petey Piranha (due to the new Piranha Plant Cove track in Tour which will undoubtedly be added in). Diddy Kong OR Funky Kong (Either when Wii DK Snowboard Cross or Wii Rainbow Road gets added). Any of the Tour exclusive characters like Chargin Chuck or Kamek.

This is just my two cents. I think it wouldn’t make sense to just add only 3 more characters after Birdo. Funky Kong deserves to return because of his appearance in Mario Kart Wii and he is a fan favorite. People want to see him back. And there’s also Pauline, who’s been added to every Mario spin-off game after Odyssey (expect for Mario Party though). I think it safe to say she’s a lock for the booster course pass since she has a model in Tour. And Kamek deserves to be add too, dude’s been shafted 2 times, it criminal. But seriously, I think it would be more logical to start an extra row of characters with Birdo being the first. They did it in the original Mario Kart 8 when it had DLC. They could do it again.

If Nintendo groups Mario and Peach variants under one slot for each, then I want Petey Piranha, Pauline and Diddy Kong. If Nintendo does the same for the Villager and Inkling genders, then I want those 3, plus Kamek and the Bros (Hammer, Boomerang, Fire and Ice all in one slot like the Yoshis and Shy Guys). If Nintendo adds an extra row, then I want those 5 plus King Bob-Omb. If Nintendo does all of the above (which, to me, seems unlikely, but we’ll see), then I want those 6 plus Monty Mole, Chargin Chuck, Nabbit, Funky Kong, Dixie Kong and either Wiggler or Honey Queen. Preferably Wiggler since he already fits in with Maple Treeway.

I dont think so about 6 more racers in the pass since we still dont know the character select screen will look like AFTER Birdo's inclusion since there are 2 different likely scenarios on how many characters will they include within the pass. Scenario 1: There will be 5 characters, This is the most likely scenario since the Mii slot COULD likely move down and we will have 2 in one wave and 3 for the other. Scenario 2: There will be 6 characters, This is the lest likely scenario since the Mii slot Could likely stay the same spot and we will have a full row along with Birdo in the same row and we will have 3 characters in each wave.

I think you need to also consider that when the original Mario Kart 8 had DLC, a new row was made under the row with the mii slot. The same could happen again this time with a new row being added under the Nintendo characters row or in between the Koopaligns row and the Nintendo characters row.

I really hope it’s not. Tour non-city nitros are usually very creative thematically and we don’t need more crossover ones after Yoshi Island. Plus I don’t like the normal new donk city daytime music.

I think they might move Tanooki Mario, Cat Peach, Metal/Gold Mario, Pink Gold Peach, & Dry Bowser as alts for Mario, Peach, & Bowser which leaves 5 open spots for new characters. The Nintendo UK trailer confirmed that Birdo is the only new character for Wave 4, which leaves 4 more characters for Waves 5 & 6. My predictions are: Wave 5: Diddy Kong (Who doesn't like Diddy? Plus he's one of the main characters from the DK series) Petey Piranha (My prediction is that Piranha Plant Cove will be added in Wave 5, so it only makes sense that Petey would be added alongside it) Wave 6: Kamek (Come on, the man deserves to be in a Mario Kart game after getting replaced in MK64 and getting cancelled in 8) Funky Kong (Do I really need to explain why he would be added? He's FUNKY KONG)

Yeah, would be interesting to see if Nintendo moves the clone characters as just alts for the original, freeing up space! Thanks for sharing your list!

God I hope Funky Kong doesn't make it. I already can't stand all the Waluigis in online, and it would be 100 times worse with FK. I don't have high hopes tho...

i'd love to see the 16-bit rendition of Donkey Kong Jr. come back (the way they implemented him in Tour). maybe he and Pauline could be released together with a Donkey Kong Arcade style track?
