i came up with these designs and the script back in early march, before people connected the dots about the iberian lynx, and i admit that if it was a lynx that would be cool as hell haha i also think the rooster of barcelos would be a cool pokemon! and i absolutely think that tauros will get some love this time around as well :)

@@toxiquid Tbh your designs and lore are so cool! I specially liked both the designs for Quaxly and Fuecoco, I think out of all the fan made designs for these starters you are the only one where I really can see it coming to life!

@@toxiquid because fuecoco white face looks like something that can turn into a skull and skullcrawlers are snake like thingy with two arms.

I definitely understand the sentiment- I did also talk to some people before 100% basing these things on them, and the designs themselves can be construed as one thing or another in a vacuum (aka switching a conquistador for a pirate, etc). However, to play devils advocate here for a moment, I also feel like the history is important, and shouldn’t be ignored, at least to a certain extent. I absolutely do apologize if I at all offended you, or said anything insensitive in the video. That was never the intent, I was just brainstorming fun concepts as to what the starters could evolve into

@@toxiquid yeah I agree that it shouldn’t be straight up ignored, that’s for sure. I just personally feel like making not only one but all three of the starters, the most important Pokémon of the region, based on conquistadors isn’t a great idea. However, the ideas could easily be construed as something else, and the designs are really good! Just wanted to give my opinion, that’s all :)

@@SnakesAnimations I do want to clarify something that I don’t think was completely understood in the video- only Quaxly would be considered based on a conquistador, even then loosely at that (notice how in the video how when going over the design, I don’t use any actual conquistador stuff in the design, it’s all naval, pirate, and sailor themed). Everyone is instead based on the mantras that we’re stated during exploration; that being God, Gold , and Glory; there isn’t much deeper stuff then that, but I do think I should’ve explained that further.

thats the issue behind trio themes; the goal is to get everything as concrete as possible, with little to no wiggle room or inaccuracy; which is why i went with the 3 G's; its a pretty good coverall

i apologize if i made you upset with these; the designs themselves can be construed as something other than the trio theme as well; quaxly being a pirate, sprigatito a lion, etc. again, i want to reiterate that i meant no offense to anyone with these, it was something that I thought worked well as a whole, that I didn't see anyone else connect the dots to.

@@toxiquid I know, your art is beautiful, is just the theme that is honestly roted, here in Brazil some white people attacked a village of indigenous people, they killed and rape children because the community reported illegal activities in their territory, 25 people vanished for almost a month, yesterday the leader reappeared to tell the police what happened, all of this is happening right now here and all of it is residue of colonization, it is still very recent, we are still fighting agains the descendents of the Europeans that will not accept the progress we made legally, that's the only reason this is upsetting, its nt about the art but the history behind all of the 3 Gs.

@@toxiquid it's not exactly your fault you know, news about any of this is harshly repressed by many powerful people here, and outside of South America is hard anyone care much about our reality, much like in Africa our continent is seen as a place where genocide and violence are "normal", the world stage only bothers with Europe and North America, Ukraine war for example is a horrible thing and we are all deeply sorry that is happening, but many more people die here every year and no international organization moves a finger... I've seen a geography RU-vidr talking about how Brasilian google search has more searchs about Elden Ring them the Ukraine Russian war and I just thought "if he only knew" because gasp, only 60ish% of people have access to internet here, so no wonder our Google search had more Elden Ring then news, the news you watch on TV, not on Google.

@@toxiquid I also want to say that you shouldn't feel guilty, you're not a bad person, the fact that you didn't know those things are no accident, if you're American your schools trained you to be ignorant about South America, education is very political you know, Portuguese children learn about the colonization period with much more favorable views, because they are not the ones with slaved grand grand parents. I think as long as you learn and change according to the new things you've learned your not only a good individual but an intelligent one as well.

Fighting Flamenco flower dancer would be okay. As long as it stays on theme and doesn't turn ugly or too human, it doesn't matter too much what the legs decide to do.
