'Prelude in F Major' on one of the most interesting Pipe Organs - J. S. Bach played by Paul Fey

Some months ago I've had the opportunity to play the amazing pipe organ at St. Martini Church in Großengottern, Germany. This Hesse organ from 1844, feels very baroque and sounds more than one note higher than it is played! This leads to a totally unique and interesting sound and makes this instrument an absolute joy to play!
I hope you'll enjoy this recording of the famous 'Prelude in F Major' by J. S. Bach (BWV 556), recorded on the pipe organ at St. Martini in Großengottern.

It sounds nearly THREE half-steps high; I never knew organs were ever pitched that high! It must be more than A=515 or so!

For people with perfect pitch and instrument that far out of tune is very difficult to play!

Yes, definitely!! I wouldn’t call it out of tune though - its just tuned a lot higher than other organs are 😀
