Kikurage = wood-ear fungus. Here in Hawai'i we call kikurage "pepeiau" which means ear. We find it growing on dead kukui nut tree logs. More texture than taste.

DAYUM all of them look SO good! Holy shit Japan's instant ramen game is strong :D Every one of them looked amazing, especially the Taiwan maze soba and the miso ramen at the end. I'm a huge fan of miso ramen, so for me it's a must have!

I really like the ramen taste tests. I am not big on ramen especially if it has seafood in it, but you two make it interesting and its impossible not to like your videos. The best ramen was the restaurant quality one in my opinion.

Oh great, now I want ramen again. Confession time: I've had fresh ramen a couple times, but I seem to enjoy instant ramen more. Perhaps it's because I'm more familiar with instant and how different their noodles are.

Japan has some tasty premium ramen! We brought back some and definitely exceeded our expectation! Great video as always!

I had the premium ramen from Convenient store and it was awesome! So was the take out bento type sushi! Ono!

I have to check on Amazon to see if I can get ahold of any of this. I was super jealous of the onigiri from the convenience stores, someone's got to cut us deprived Americans who love Japanese food a break :)

I have mixed emotions. I would love, more than I can say, to try all of those. Trouble is, I can't eat sesame and I'm sure that it's an ingredient in some if not all. But I will dream tonight that I can taste all of those...and based on your descriptions and reactions...I think I can. You know what? Since it will be my dream...I'll take if farther and dream that Dorothy and I are with you two enjoying all the wonderful food you've share with us. And, since it's my dream still....we can eat it all with no fear and never gain weight! I dream big! A million thanks for this. I had a great time tasting vicariously!!!!

Premium Ramen cups in japan are still cheaper than our basic ramen cups in my area lol

In Australia we call Kikurage Wood ear fungus or just Black Fungus. I dont like mushrooms much but I LOVE the chewy rubbery texture of Kikurage.

The miso ramen at the end seemed irresistible. I'm sure it beats the packaged miso ramen I bought yesterday in the refrigerated section of Nijiya. You guys are so lucky!

Yes! Do more videos like this! It is so fun to see. These are clearly so much better than the standard ramen cups. It's fascinating. I think it's good to have small splurges in life that one can enjoy. This seems like something you two can enjoy sometimes. I know going out to ramen is wonderful, but when you are busy, it is so convenient to have soup at home. It sounds like this is only slightly more expensive than the cheapest type of cup ramen, yes? So it is something you could enjoy, at least some of the time. Have a good day! :-)

my personal fav and the only ones i buy are from my local asian market called Lucky me! instant pancit canton BIG extra hot chili flavor. REALLY good noodles and the quality is TOP NOTCH!

Nissin are selling those ramen noodles you drain and add sauce to in the UK now, they're very tasty. Wish I could try better quality Japanese instant ramen, looked so good!
