Yeah...I was up in the Shanadowa Valley in Virginia. The night before I cooked two big stakes over the fire. And yes I dumped my grease in the fire thinking it would burn it up. The next morning and it was as late as 7:30 AM, I was making coffee over the fire. I heard something from behind my camp chair. It was a frickin year old bear! I chased him down the path then realized this guy may still have a mother around, so I called off the chase. ( another no no, even a year old bear can be more of a handful that a large dog.) These camp grounds in the Shanadowa are maticulous. They even have bear proof food steel boxes for each camp ground, and bear proof trash dumpsters close by. But it was my camp that drew this bear into my spastic spot. Lesson learned. These girls did a great job, thank you.
Very good Video. I would always pay strict attention to something like that when I was camping alone in a place in the woods. But is it as necessary on proper campsites as KOA? I think there are more than 20 other campers all with food. It has to smell no matter what you do.
