Third Bloom finally finished, so I am going to prune away the growth to reduce the size to minimal for winter.

Love your videos! After I saw your other night blooming videos, I went out and bought one for myself ^_^. I got it at Lowes in 2 gal container for ~$15. The shape was crazy tall (4 feet) but skinny, it kept tumbling over. I repotted it and trimmed down to about 2 feet like yours. After about 2 months, it is starting to have the round and full shape like yours and it bloomed with a lot of flowers but just on 1 or 2 branches on one side. Right now it is the second time it's blooming and on the opposite side. Every time it blooms, a lot of flowers come out and bend down that branch to the side making it look out of shape. How do I make it to bloom evenly all around like yours?

Thank you for watching. Great job, as for bloom evenly the pruning is important. Keep pruning at the shape you want and it will cause more blooms around that shape.

Hi, Many thanks for your video. My plants are a lot smaller than yours but the roots have grown and you can actually see the roots at the top of the soil. What is the reason? Thank you so much
@ninelinks3443
@ninelinks3443 Год назад
If plant is doing well then I wont worry about it. The main thing could of caused this: soil erosion or roots find resources better at the top(watering too often). If this in a pot the most likely root-bounded. Cestrum nocturnum does have aggressive root growth.

Hello, thanks for the video . Can I put this in my Garage during winters? Also, what fertilizer do you recommend? I am in North Dallas and it’s fairly cold here. My plant is not that healthy i recently bought it what’s do you recommend for healthy blooming? Thanks
@ninelinks3443
@ninelinks3443 Год назад
Thanks for watching. If your garage has windows on has sunlight coming in then sure it’s not optimal but do able. I recommend slow release balanced fertilizer like the pink osmocote; however, you can go organic as will. As for blooming, as long as this plant gets enough sun and water it will bloom quite well. To encourage more blooms in the summer give it some bloom booster like 10-30-10 or 10-40-15(any fertilizer with high mid number). This plant is very resilient so killing it would be hard. Lol gl

Hi, thank you so much for this video, mine it's not no where as big as yours but the roots are coming out the pot. What is the reason? Do I need to repot
@ninelinks3443
@ninelinks3443 2 года назад
You can repot if you want or keep it in the same pot just water more often. I only repot mine if is severely overgrown and pot bounded, which going to happen end of this year.

How often do you water your plant? I've got mine in a relatively big container, and it's grown long branches with very large leaves at the top. I've fed it hummus fertilizer a couple times and I water it almost 3-4 times a week but it seems to constantly shed leaves and some of the newer ones are growing yellow-ish spots on them. Any tips?
@ninelinks3443
@ninelinks3443 Год назад
Couple things that could cause the leaves to fall: temperature, pot bounded and not getting enough water, not enough fertilizer, and diseases. If its pot bounded then water at least once a day, this plant drink water like a sponge. Colder temperature does cause the leaves to shed.

@@ninelinks3443 I thought I was under watering it, I'll try watering it every day for a week and see if it gets better, thanks!

Love your video. I ordered a couple of nightblooming jasmines from this nursery. In Florida, I live in Denver, Colorado. The climate is very dry and very cold in the winter. But believe it or not, my night blooming Jasmine grew around four feet each. And gave flowers over the summer. My question is, I'm probably going to keep it indoors for the most part in the wintertime months. Do you suggest any particular grow lights for my two plants? And fertilizer or food for them ? And also, can I prune them now, being that there 4 feet tall ?
@shprite781
@shprite781 8 месяцев назад
@@ralphdering837 prune during the winter, they're dormant for the most part so they won't need fertilizer until the spring.

This is my first time to grow this and from a cutting this Spring it is now a 4ft high bush and covered in buds... some of the buds are opening but there is almost no scent...just very faint if I put my nose to it (after dark of course). Any thoughts?
@ninelinks3443
@ninelinks3443 Год назад
Sometimes the temp and humidity have huge effect on fragrance. I would not know why but here some things you can try: use organic fertilizer , bloom booster, or spray/mist the plant. Last thing: give it time.
@paulwilson8021
@paulwilson8021 Год назад
Yes, you are right the temp and humidity are definitely a factor...the night's have dipped into the 40sF here in South East England zone 8A but tonight and the outlook is looking better with night time lows upper 50s to 60F and I've noticed more scent this evening... I'm sure warm summer nights will show its glory next summer and after all any mild weather now won't last. Cheers

Sorry one more question if you don't mind. I have two plants in two separate pots and I put them both in a bigger pot together or you don't recommend it
@ninelinks3443
@ninelinks3443 2 года назад
I would not recommend combining two plants into one, they will compete resources and soon out grow the pot. Try keep them separate and that way they both grow their own root system correctly.

Mine stars blooming in late September. When is the regular season for it to bloom ?
@ninelinks3443
@ninelinks3443 2 года назад
That depends on your zone. In an ideal hot zone like 9b this plant should blooms all year round that is with proper pruning to encourage it bloom as well. For my zone 6b, this year it has bloomed 4 times and I just did a big pruning last week to prepare it for indoor over the winter.

Indoor near windows, most cold zones have basement and if your basement has windows is even better. Note: during winter it will drops most of its leaves which is normal.

Hi, Hope you are well. I'm in a bit of situation. I was away for few days and the temperature dropped to -4 Celsius in London whist I was away for around 4 days, I took my plants to the basement when I came back, but unfortunately they have lost almost all their leaves. Does this mean they have all died? Do you recommend cutting the brunches short? Thank you
@ninelinks3443
@ninelinks3443 Год назад
Cutting/pruning will only induce more stress on plant. If your basement has sun light then just leave it in a partial shade area for it to recovers. Depends on the severity, given it time to recover and water less be the best way to go. Once it starts to grow in spring then prune the dead branches off.

@anooshiravan82 I'm around NYC. Been trying to keep these guys for a while and finally gotten one in Manhattan past fall, a fairly good and young specimen. Tried to give it good amount of sunlight by put outside during day. But weather being cold by evening wasn't too kind to the roots and plant began shriveling. So I decided to purchase a grow light (3 headed variety with stand for about 50 on Amazon) and did damage control in my heated basement by water heater. Light is on a timer 18 hrs on and 6 hrs off and have gotten back to fairly healthy state. Was checking out this video to get info to propagation. In NYC winter, temp has gone down to 12⁰ F once and usually around 25/35 F, hope this info helps. Btw is a thirsty sucker, takes qt of RO water every other day and growing vigorously. 🙂
