This guy is 100% correct about not getting emotional... My interview was practically an interrogation. At the time it seemed like they were being very forceful/condescending/sarcastic with their questioning and challenged every single one of my answers. I just kept my cool and answered each question honestly and in the end it worked out and i got the job
As someone who works in this area, this advice is useful, but very general and applicable to hiring and personnel selection in a multitude of positions, not only a law enforcement officer. Of course, be sharp, dress clean and professional, do not get defensive. Viewers should note the presenter only spoke to NY state, county and city laws and regulations. These can and do vary from your State and city.
It certainly helps to sort out like minded individuals. It's said that people tend to adopt dogs which share a likeness to themselves, fair to say the same of employees.
Spot on! He is absolutely correct! One thing I may add tho. Keep your answers short and to the point. Just say yes or no. Nothing in between. They may try to twist your words around. And most importantly, be yourself! That’s how I passed.
LISTEN AND FOLLOW THIS MANS INSTRUCTIONS. I wore the suit and tie as this man instructed it went miles for me. Be professional and be respectful. Good luck everyone ⚫🔵⚫
I'm interviewing next week for a dream job. I was a firefighter and EMT for MANY years. I'm interviewing for 911 dispatcher in the community I grew up in and worked in. By NO MEANS is this a slam dunk for me. I'm nervous as all heck, but confident. This guy 100% nails it.
Had my oral board interview a couple weeks ago Just finished my second phase with chief and assistant chief, Had my background done yesterday. On to the next step This man’s advice is legit. Don’t let them intimidate you. Be honest about every question but only give necessary short to the point answers. Walk in with the best attire you have or can afford and be yourself. Once you pass the oral board and then the second interview, you’re chances are looking great
A lot of personal questions. Don't say anymore than you need to. Overall, the best advice i can give someone on the matter, is to be honest on your written and oral. I didn't pass for trying to solve the written portion. I'm quite confident in myself though, i will eventually try again and not make the same mistakes. Hope this helped, and i wish you the best.
+Jasiel Arredondo hey how long does it take for you to go to the academy, from the time you start with your APD 5? I just got an email to start my APD 5, I know I've got background check, written and oral psychological, job standard test and so on. When from today can I expect to go to the academy ? I know I need to pass everything first. Just wanted to know the time estimate. Thanks.
it all comes down to if they like u or not just be professional dress sharp and dont lie even if u got in trouble in past good luck.O make sure your shoes r on point they failed people for this in past
VTF STUDIOS "I just passed the "writing" test".. "Thanks so much for you advices". I really don't think anyone needs to say anything more . It's good to know that you will be out there, with your , obvious "writing" skills, putting other people behind bars.
+Matthew Dowling I see I have another stalker. If you are seeing my comments, you are spending a lot of time on police accountability pages. Why don't you go find something else to do other than troll those channels? It Looks like you are keyboard warrioring here. Are you gonna bark all day little doggie? Or , are you gonna bite?
+Matthew Dowling Oh , were you trying to insult me? You don't have that ability. Your just an angry little punk. Don't worry. I'm sure you can get plenty of help from organizations like this one, to help to cover up your anger issues and other mental disorders. You guys are so easy to piss off, it's pathetic. No wonder so many of you die from heart attacks. Now run along and be sad and angry
This is very helpful, how are small details to bigger details make significant points in such interviews Totally amazed to learn about this video. I believe he gave a cue to stay calm at all times and hold control of our emotions.
I was pretty nervous during my psych interview but it was pretty straight forward. Just went over my background, noting about my psych results. It lasted about 25-30 mins. Got my results that I passed within 2-3 weeks. Btw this was done while on Skype.
I feel like I’m getting yelled at lmao. Just show up and be yourself. Don’t pretend to be someone you’re not either. After all, they’re hiring the person they think you are not to person you’re trying to pretend to be
I just took one today, and out of the two I took btw took one for my state passed worked law enforcement for four years there and I’ve never been asked to count freakin backwards from 100 by 7’s... so weird
They can fail u if u were fired from job so don’t lie they know already remembers it’s not a fair test the people given oral exam r not doctors especially NYPD
alot of guards are getting mad about this mmpi they pass there back round check they still need to go take mmpi most of them are fighting that appeal level 3 dont need mmpi.
hes right for nyc police stand point Make sure u have nice suit on shoes importanf first thing ladie did was look at my shoes maybe i cant afford. 200 shoes true story people have failed for there shoes the people interviewing u r not even lic psychologist so the process is unfair my it happened to my friend he got tne attorney and got on a few years later so its worth the money u pay . good luck
I would definitely recommend that, especially if youre going for a police officer psych test. When your actually hired on there isn't much facial hair allowed. don't start on stepping toes before you get an academy date.
And be sure to quote America's greatest cop, Inspector Harry Callahan, when they ask you what the most important quality for the job is. "A man's got to know his limitations."
if you have a college 4 year degree with a high GPA ,do you get extra points on test.I scored a 96,without my degree being measured? Thank you for a great video Counselor.
No I believe you only get extra points if you are a veteran. A degree usually only gets you a monthly stipend bonus but that's when you already have the job.
What should I say if they ask me why I had or if I ever had chronic fatigue because I did but I also had some medical issues going but don’t know the root cause for the fatigue. Possibly bad sleep habits, but it happened after I got the Covid vaccine and then I got pancreatitis 4 months after, and then surgery on my deviated septum. How should I say this if asked about my fatigue I had since I went on medical leave from my job.
My Country Feedback 🦅♥ 🇺🇸 In God We Trust Continual Prayers against The Left-hand Path. Well at least this Sheriff's Department doesn't shut off the "comments" button to prevent criticism for their sins and wickedness, and iniquities like the LA County Sheriff's Department does ❤. What kind of people are these who can dish out all kinds of criticism, but can't tolerate even the slightest correction, negative report, negative response or criticism even for their most hideous and malicious acts, and crimes against civilization? This is perplexing. ❤ This policy of silencing correction and criticism could possibly, truthfully and easily and obviously be construed Left-hand Path, Deep State Extremist Terrorism, Incorrigible Public Administration Bureaucracy, Evil Invisible Empire 666 compatible. These are the very things that in my prayers I pray against, I pray that God will intervene a put a haul to these.❤ I am not praying 🙏 for the destruction of good, but I am definitely praying for the obliteration of Evil. I am Right-hand Path I pray intercession prayer, Spiritual Warfar Prayers for all Evil 😈 in civilization to be annihilated, destroyed, and removed, along with oppression. The Beast 666 is Public Enemy number 1.❤ It is agape to pray for the annihilation and destruction of evil in civilization so that we can have World Peace. So I observe that the Sheriff's Department has shut down the comments button on all of the RU-vid Shorts. So, I tap the dislike button on all of their videos to bring to their Exalted attention this error and mistake.❤ "That men may know that they are men and not God." And that God is Love. Sincerely, Me O God come to the assistance of all humanity against The Beast 666. Amen.
If you see what going on with officers losing their cool out there, these interviews need to be better and weed out the bullies and those that can not handle being disrespected. The weakest link in the force creates the BAD news and gets the department/city sued.
Some of these "so-called" psychologists weed out applicants who have no psychological issues whatsoever. Being interviewed by a psychologist is one of the worst ways to determine if someone is fit to become a cop.
If you need to act for the interview your not suited for the job, it's supposed to screen people that don't know how to handle authority respectably. The screening process needs to be changed and updated consistently
If the psychologist says something to try and provoke you what is the proper response? Do we just sit there in silence and take it? If they are accusing you of lying can we ask if they can be specific? Would that be considered overly emotional?
This is an excellent question. The answer will vary depending upon the individual and his/her history. This is why it's so important to prepare for the psychological evaluation in the same way a candidate prepares for the physical evaluation (e.g., Job Standard Test). ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YM_ahcH11M8.html
Browncocoa Just have to add here in my crusade to ban these devices. Polygraph is a SCAM industry. They only use it to scare confessions out of suspects who believe they actually work. In other words, if you believe in polygraphs, chances are you’ll be scared and confess to what they’re trying to shake out of you. I took a polygraph once to settle a trust issue and was told I “failed miserably” even though I was being 100% truthful and should’ve passed with flying colors. The U.S. Supreme Court has already ruled, that the polygraph is as reliable as the “toss of the coin”. Had I known how flawed the polygraph industry is, and their operators being narcissistic POS, I never would’ve subjected myself to it. It was my idea to hire a polygraph examiner, not the other party. Since then, I have learned about the Supreme Court’s decision on banning their use to being admissible in courts of law, due to their extremely poor results. Also, I learned of these two resources available on RU-vid here, one is Doug Williams Polygraph (a former Oklahoma Detective/polygraph examiner and now a crusader against their use), and the other is a 60 Minutes television episode taped around 1986. The 60 Minuets episode has Diane Sawyer and her undercover investigative team exposing the polygraph industry for being complete frauds. The episode is called “Truth or Consequences”. All that these detectors can do is measure physiological body responses to stimuli. There is no Pinocchio effect when you lie. Your nose doesn’t grow when you lie, your heart rate, breathing and sweat activity don’t necessarily increase when you lie. This is a SCAM industry and they will vigorously defend its alleged accuracy to continue to profit handsomely with useless but sometimes damaging results to those trying to settle a trust issue or apply for a job. Some polygraph businesses claim 98-99% accurate results, that’s amusing since our own Supreme Court has said they are as reliable as a “toss of a coin”.
