When painting cabinets, the key to success is in the prep work. Proper cleaning, scuff sanding, and priming will give your paint the best surface to adhere to, resulting in a smooth, even finish, and long lasting results. I’m using Whip It cleaner to remove all grease and grime, and sanding with 120 grit sandpaper. My go-to primer is Wise Owl’s Stain Blocking Primer. It’s a water based, eco friendly primer that is just as tough as it’s oil counterparts. Two coats, with proper dry time in between, will successfully block stains and tannins, and create superb adhesion.
