Sporting KC football (soccer) club used to be named Wiz for reasons I still don’t understand. Pee jokes from day one. They had to change their name to The Wizards following legal action by a business named The Wiz, but of course everyone still referred to them as the Kansas City Wiz, which sounds less like a major sports team and more of a euphemism for something. Wiz was not a shortened version of wizards, it was the other way, they lengthened it to wizards so what does wiz mean? Literally only ever heard it as slang for peeing, why start the team with that name?

I flew Wizz Air once. The flight was originally only 10 hours late due to a mechanical problem, but then there was something wrong with the replacement aircraft and they cancelled the flight. The tiny airport was hours from the nearest city so every hotel room in the area was gone by the time the announcement was finished and it took me five hours to get a cab. Probably the longest 45 minute flight of my life.

It's not a claim, if prices stopped going up than inflation is under control. That doesn't mean prices will go down, that would be DEFLATION, and it's generally considered bad for the economy when it happens.

Prices haven't "stopped going up", the rate of increase has dropped. But real people will not believe "inflation has been defeated" until the prices return to what they were beforehand. You're correct about deflation, but the average human being will not be satisfied with "these are the prices now, get used to it".

Smugglers. Got a bag of individually, loosely wrapped candies. Replaced the candy with little blocks of their illicit substance. Resealed the bag. Apparently, at least one bag was not intercepted by the criminals. It is believed a person bought a bag of candy and gave it to the food pantry. The charity put a couple of candies in each bag of food that was going to homeless people. Someone complained about the horrible tasting candy.

I am old enough to remember when the U.S. government did not know how to control inflation. Nixon tried and failed with wage and price controls. Inflation hit 20% under Carter. The Federal Reserve figured it out, and made it the number one priority, ahead of unemployment, interest rates, or anything else. People think almost 40 years of abnormally low inflation was normal. Coming back in control, after the last 4 years of economic disruption

To be fair, grocery stores did increase wages at that time as well. The best solution to inflation is an across the board wage cut, but no politician is brave enough to call for that.

Inflation is currently sitting at 2.9%, which is lower than the long-term average of 3.28%. additionally, the inflation problem was a worldwide issue, not just restricted to the United States. Due in those small part to policies of the Biden administration, the United States fared far better than the rest of the western world and has recovered much faster.
