UN Owen They're All Looking Like Theyre Waiting On. ACourt .....Rich Littles Talents Were Wasted On These Dry Humourless Mannequin like Imbeciles And Comedy Today Is Like The Aforementioned....Dry Humourless ,, PCorrectness Has Destroyed Comedy For Good....ppl are too sensitive and offended.....UN Owen 👍
That had to be one of the HARDEST gigs Rich has ever performed. My hat's off to him. He looked like he performed in front of storefront mannequins! The thing about the tapes should have had them rolling in the isles!
This guy was the king impressionist in the 1970s when I was a kid. He has been the best since the early 60s. I remember when he was scheduled to be on Johnny Carson I would beg my mom to let me stay up and watch him. She would let me and it was the best. Great memories. I don’t think this crowd is appreciating him.
I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU 1000 % !!! ALL OF THOSE PEOPLE THERE IN THAT AUDIENCE ARE Alot OF FLAT TIRES. IF YOU GET MY MEANING. NONE OF THEM ARE WORTH PERFORMING IN FRONT OF.
Little was spot on. Unfortunately, 90% of the audience were either too ignorant to know, or too young to remember, anyone he was impersonating! Many probably didn't even know what an impersonator is.
We are in 2019 & the MSM is a bought & paid for their circus by George Soros & you have successfully turned the news into a freak show!!! When you go vote just because you hate President Trump SMH Say hello to Socialism & YOU VOTED FOR IT!! UNLIKE YOU I'M VOTING FOR TRUMP AND ALL THE WAY DOWN I'M GOING RED RED RED
John Kidd not true. This is always a tough crowd. Uneasy, prickly, sensitive. Partly because there is a President sitting up there and power all around them.
Wow, that crowd has no business getting exposed to any comedy routine...way too stuck on themselves. RL did do it his way which the audience can’t relate to, but worse than that they were arrogant...what a bunch of snobs.
Rich Little was a Fabulous comedian, The Best Impressionist. Now, I admire him for "going on with the show" under almost impossible conditions!! What a man, what a gentleman, what a great Professional!!!
welcome back, tbry! "Ron Paul is one of the outstanding leaders fighting for a stronger national defense. As a former Air Force officer, he knows well the needs of our armed forces, and he always puts them first. We need to keep him fighting for our country!" -President Ronald Reagan
He was great, the audience however seem to require the humor to be explained to them. I guess if it is clean and fun and not in your face they don't get it.
@@tml184 I agree in part - his comedic edge is limited at best but he is hands down such a great impressionist - the best ever. This unbelievable talent is frankly so fascinating to watch that it makes up for the lack wit.
au contrere. His impersonations were off, he used inappropriate language for that venue, puerile "jokes". He looked much older from combing his hair straight back. He kinda blew this one. I don't understand why he didn't plan this one better.
Rich Little tended to bomb a bit more, in his day, than other comic/impressionists, and he got steadily more so with age. This is not a crowd that came to see an act. Note that I say _tended_ and _bit._ But even with a good crowd, such as Dean Martin's roasts, he would have roughly 50% knockout streaks (Carson, Benny, Burns, Rickles, etc.), 30% funny, and 10% meh... and 10% omg, dead-air. And he knew it. This _is_ a tough house, and his stuff had too much air out of the tires. No, it wasn't great.
watchgoose Pretty much agree. He really didn't tailor his act to his audience. This wasn't Vegas, these are people in a politically edgy venue, who are uncertain about just _what_ is safe to laugh about. Rich recognized this in his low-key introduction where he did well to put everyone at ease, including Mr. Bush. But, having removed all even _perceivable_ barbs, he got mired in low-brow humor that would have played well on the Carson show, etc. He did have some considerable moments of brilliance, Reagan was spot on, but then Bush&Clinton went off the rails, Carter and the nuts-joke, though? What were you thinking, Rich? It was also too long.
Why so many dislikes on this video? Rich's material is good. I think some of you RU-vid trolls will just dislike anything that includes President George W. Bush.
That was good!!! He came to that event to try to bring out the best in those people.... He definitely tried his best after the tragic incident at Virginia Tech just a few days before... Nerves of steel and great courage to see him perform up there...
K Kr definitely...He had no chance to make them see how very funny he is. I feel like bush should have Introduced him then when thanking him explain why he couldn't do it.
I don't know if Rich's timing was off, or if it was the pall of the Virginia Tech shooting, or a combination of the two that threw off most of his act, but his Nixon was hilarious, and made the whole thing worth watching. Now that he's older, he actually looks more like Nixon as he impersonates him. It was great! 8-) I definitely got more laughs out of this half hour than I could from most all the junk they put on TV today. Thumbs up from me.
Bush's mention of the 'Shooting', put the dampers on it. How could he expect anybody to follow that. A SPOT LIGHT on Rich would have helped somewhat I beleive. ( Englishman )
@BeingRomans829ed: DEFINITELY WASN'T Rich! His timing is just as tight as ever! When you're playing to a crowd of stuffed shirts, stiffs, and storefront mannequins, most everything is a good bet to fall flat on its ass.
For years-the legendary, multi-talented, multi-faceted comedic impressionist Rich Little did EXCELLENT impressions of Ronald Reagan, Jimmy Stewart, Richard Nixon, George W. Bush, Cary Grant, among MANY others! Additionally-I had the pleasure and enjoyment of seeing Rich LIVE in an outdoor concert at the Alemeda County Fair-in Pleasanton, California-in July of 1994. In addition to the aforementioned impressions-he and his female comedic partner did an EXCELLENT routine portraying the legendary husband & wife comedy team of George Burns and Gracie Allen! Rich could do it ALL- vocal impressions; vocal inflection, and physical mannerisms. Incidentally-several years later-Rich and his comedic female partner fell in love and got married! How nice! :)
Oh, man, these people just didn't get it ... AT ALL!!! They had the good fortune, and the honor, to be entertained by a comedy LEGEND, impersonator, Mr. Rich Little! I really felt for Mr. Little, as some of his jokes fell flat. Some of these stiffs barely looked comatose! Rich nailed it, as always. You still got it, Rich - May God bless ya!!! Rich did a great show....trying to entertain a dull half-responsive audience....guess you can't make some people laugh or lighten up....he is undoubtedly one of the greatest (if not THE Greatest) impressionists ever.....gives me one more reason to be proud to be a Canadian !!
Well he was perfoming an act created for a 1970s audience. The 2007 crowd does not have the same sense of humor. Also, his voice has aged too much. He no longer has the vocal strength required to make some of the key voices like Johnny Carson sound authentic.
when I was growing up, Frank Gorshin and Rich Little were the best out there. His joke about the war on poverty and the poor lost was classic, but it fell on deaf ears. I really felt for Rich performing in front of a bunch of muppets
Some of those women in the audience would freeze an iceberg with their stone cold looks. Especially Andria Mitchell, she must be a real ball of fire in bed.
After this video, I am firmly convinced that the White House Correspondents are totally devoid of anything even approaching the approximation of a sense of humor. What a bunch of dim bulbs.
"I think that a society that can poke fun at its political leaders is a confident society and a free society." I was never much a fan of George W but these were words well spoken. Remember when we used to laugh at comedians and took out politicians seriously?
If you are over 30 years old, not a member of the liberal press, are slightly aware of history, and have an attention span that hasn't been totally conditioned by instant messages (both commercial and personal) and self-gratification you're gonna love Rich Little at the Washington Correspondent's Dinner.
That was terrific. Hands down the best Jimmy Carter impression I've ever seen. (The worst Bill Clinton though). I got a lot of good belly laughs on it.
The audience was too young to know who he was or any of the people he impersonated. The turning of the page. A giant retires . God bless this great talent! Rich...You're rich !
I remember when he interviewed with Carson and talked about being introduced as buddy rich by Ed Sullivan ..lol.. that was so hilarious 😂 because. I can't believe how good he is at impersonations. Crowds getting on my nerves just a little, but I love his Johnny Carson always have.
Great to see Rich Little again here (I think he's 69 then). He was just a joy to watch when I was a kid. And he reminded me of my father and me wishing he was just as funny. ;-)
"Some people live their entire lifetime and wonder if they ever made a difference to the world.... Marines don't have that problem". President Ronald Reagan - September 23, 1983
Tough room!!! Rich Little is a genius. Think his political impressions (which were great) was touching nerves, so he might have been better off doing only non-political impressions. That said, loved his incredible performance (even though it falls flat with the assembled audience - can't believe at points no one gets the jokes - scary if this the top-level of the USA brains trust). Found it interesting that George W, was open enough to be lampooned, along with his Dad. Could a comedian get away with this in every other country on our planet? Maybe democracy is actually a good thing.
People don't Realize how difficult it is to be a comedian. He spoke that long, all memorized, didn't need 1 drink of water, and had no need to make political Points like today's late night so called comedians
Rich Little is alive and well as of today September 2,2015.I saw him over the weekend for lunch in Los Angeles with our families. I have known him all my life. I thought his material was pretty good. The 'dislikes' come because the stuffy crowd that was Rich's audience at this event were not laughing . And people in general are SHEEP!! They need to see other's laugh in order to think something is funny!! This is why Sitcoms use an audience's laugh tracks, its the power of suggestion. Its purposely used to boost ratings.Thank goodness comedies are now closed set one camera rigged shows without an audience , or canned laugh tracks added (IE Brady Bunch, Love Boat). Its sad that a lot of people can't think for themselves. But shows like 'Curb Your Enthusiasm" were among the first to give me hope that people were deciding what was funny for themselves. As an actor and a cast member of a couple successful sitcoms, (No not Peter Brady from the Brady Bunch, just my alias) I think audience laughter is too much. Give people credit. I always thought it was almost embarrassing to see the audience in the bleachers of our show's almost bursting veins with laughter to be heard on television. it wasn't THAT funny. Im not saying this video was top notch comedy by any means, but it was not bad at all.
How did Rich Feel about this ? There were moment I really felt foe him. I'm surprised he didn't break out in flop sweat. He soldiered on. A true pro. But its a high profile gig and political humor wasn't his thing. " I appreciate your response" is different than saying " you were a great audience"!
Actually I've seen other events like this and President Bush was quite funny and self depreciating, he could laugh at himself. And it wasn't reading off a teleprompter like I see Obama do most of the time at these type of events.
