I think we're watching different videos because he's claiming how black people willingly abandoned our identity. And through his 60yr observation, is asking himself why.. Sudanese wouldn't identity as Arabs if they did fight tirelessly for their own self determination. It would've naturally been written into their constitution. (To deliberately fight for their identity.) Islam and Christianity are not African and the critique is not exclusive to Sudan but all of Africa. Less so African Americans because we were whipped and lynched out of our identity. Africa doesn't have the same excuse. I agree with you, my President, but the misuse is inappropriate here! The main problem of Africa is Dictators misusing and abusing the populations. Even in Tanzania especially in Zanzibar many of them are proud to identify as Araba even though they have a dark skin tone and for many generations their ancestors originate from Congo who were taken as slaves to work in Zanzibar plantations, some of them are mixed afro arabs force to identify as 100 % arabs we call them waarabu koko, The worst part is that the arabs still see them as Africans, wont even let them marry their daughters unless they are so rich or hold power.
I saw a show years ago when Professor Gates ( the American) went to Zanzibar and for us in the west it was hilarious to hear an obvious African darker and more kinky hair than the professor or myself vehemently object to being called African and declared he was Arab. My household in the Caribbean had a good laugh.

Each time I see a fellow Africans who are darker than me saying otherwise, I am left speechless. It's a shame when I see fellow brothers and sisters self-hating their origins. Even for the Afro-Arabs, many of them are predominantly of African heritage, They don't come close to being Arab, but the energy they use to force the Arab identity is pure self-hate of their African heritage side which dominates their dna.

Africa is a continent, not just one people with one appearance. Berbers have been in Africa for 10s of thousands of years before the Arabs came. I can understand what he means, but Arab doesn't mean one particular look or race not since hundreds of years.
Africa (and Asia) has a serious identity issue that no one likes to talk about - the lightening of dark skin. I don't know the statistics but there are many online reports of many retailers selling cheaply produced skin-lightening or skin-bleaching products. THAT is an issue if one doesn't even like their skin color and has no qualms publicizing it. THAT is deep. Imagine being dark-skinned and wanting to lighten your skin because you believe your life will be better all around as a light skinned African or Asian, wanting that SO bad that you'd risk your life applying these proven poisons to your skin day in and day out. Just wow. And the results are NOT convincing. The result is almost ghostly, dry, pale, unnatural looking skin. Famous African rappers and sports figures and actors even use this stuff. I mean this is a psychology thesis topic if I ever heard one!
