This is something I'm REALLY happy about!
The PB-2000 has always been my "go-to" recommendation, with the only hesitation being the price. Now with it on special, it's much more accessible to more people. I'm all about that!
If you have a single PB-2000, now is a great time to add a second sub!!
If you aren't sure what the Tesla battery bank is all about, it's going into the RV Home Theater Project so I can run the home theater from solar, and not require grid power or a noisy generator to do demos. I won't have to anger an entire RV park just to show what the theater can do!
If all goes the way I expect, I should even be able to run the roof air conditioner as well from just the solar and the batteries, a bit of a holy grail for RV solar. It's about 10-20 times the amount of power storage of a normal RV house battery setup, and a whole lot lighter than lead!
Here's a video on "Big Bass, Tiny Rooms" that shows what's going on in the RV project: • BIG BASS, Tiny Room! T...
Definitely stay tuned!!
A WORD OF ADVICE:
If you currently have these subs, or any other SVS subwoofers, try running MORE GAIN than usual.
One of the great things about ported deep bass subwoofers is that you can run MORE bass before it sounds overdone. This is why a subwoofer with a lower "Max SPL" can actually deliver more bass overall *IN PRACTICE*.
If you let room correction set the levels, it will not be enough bass for you, I can almost guarantee it.
Check out my Gain Hack, Adjusting Subs by Ear, Crossover Hack, and Distance Hack videos. The whole "Bass Hack" video series is helpful, but those in particular can make a positive and dramatic difference, FOR FREE:

Hey how's it going? Glad to see you uploading again. I always value your input and I have a quick question for you. Which do you think sounds better between setting your subwoofer face front or on a angle? I'm experimenting with the two sub placements. And im leaning more towards the face front option because i love the boomy effect. But what do you prefer?

Love your videos! Have you managed to hear the new SB 2000 pro, wondering if they will also be worth upgrading from the original (require smaller SB v PB due to aesthetic/room size)
@Subwoofer101
@Subwoofer101 4 года назад
I would definitely upgrade from the original SB-2000 to the SB-2000 Pro because of the adjustments you can make to it. The better driver and amplifier make a difference for sure, but you can also shape the response so that it sounds a bit more like a bigger ported sub. Kind of a neat trick. I haven't heard it personally, but I'm pretty confident in the difference. Sealed subs need more power in general because they are less efficient than ported, so you should notice a difference because of the change in amplifier topology. It doesn't sound like just a 50 watt difference. Of course if you can move up to the SB- 3000, that would be even better. But the Pro is worth the upgrade nonetheless.
@Subwoofer101
@Subwoofer101 4 года назад
To be certain, you can run large powerful ported subs in small rooms. I've done it, you can see my Tiny Room Big Bass video, but I have run dual PB4000's in my RV Project. Sounded phenomenal, once I had the right room correction plan. Didn't even need bass traps or anything. Honestly, I could have run dual PB16 Ultras in the RV. The biggest problem is weight and size, they took up the walkway too much, lol. The PB-3000 and PB-2000 Pro are a better fit for that scenario, but only because of the size of the sub, not the output potential. My point is, you don't have to restrict yourself because you have a smaller room. I know that is conventional wisdom, but conventional wisdom is wrong in this case. You just need good room correction. Audyssey XT32 did a much better job over the regular XT.

So I have Def Tech BP9040 as my front left and right but I want more base as these are only 8 inch woofers. Thinking about putting a SB 1000 in the corner across the room corner. Would this be good placement?
@waymonfrench2077

If you have a reciever with sub out/in set reciever to sub 1,2 if you have one sub out you can use a splitter or a two way cable your lfe on the 9040 hook a rca cable to that and the other end to your receiver makes a big difference if you do it right

I have dual PB1000 and really love them. These are my first attempt at a real home theater and well worth the investment. Always looking to improve but on a budget. Short of buying new dual PB2000, could I add another PB1000? Total of 3? If so, how would I do that and would it be worth it?
@Subwoofer101
@Subwoofer101 4 года назад
Did you order them factory direct? Has it been less than a year? If the one year trade up is an option, that's what I would go with. Dual PB-2000 Pro's are epic. I think you'd get a lot more bang for your buck, literally. You can see my 2 subs vs 4 subs video, but I think it's better to go with more powerful subs rather than three or four less powerful subs, particularly in the SVS line. The difference is more explosiveness, and you don't get much more explosiveness with a third PB1000.

Quick question, maybe been asked before if so, sorry. I'm looking into a svs 2000 pb pro and a svs 3000 sb I'm thinking it would give me the best of both worlds deep bass and fast bass.
@Subwoofer101
@Subwoofer101 4 года назад
I would go with dual PB-2000 Pro. You can try mixing sealed with ported by plugging ports of one of the subs and setting it to sealed in the App. I think what you'll find is you get a better experience overall by having the subs matched exactly. Anytime I've tried mixing subs, even when they're really close in driver size and frequency response, it's just not as good as having the subs be exactly the same. I think you'll find that the idea of "fast bass" becomes less of an issue with a subwoofer like the PB-2000 Pro in a dual configuration. Strangely, ported subs tend to suffer that stigma as a single, but as duals the sound cleans up nicely, with no sense of sluggishness or the common complaints about ported subs. Hopefully that helps. If it's no trouble, and you're inclined to support the channel, please follow one of my links if you are going factory direct, which would ensure the one-year trade-up if you decide you want to move up to the PB-3000's. Of course, do what's best for you. The PB-2000 Pro's are very impressive. I think you'll enjoy them.

What about Passive subs with external crossovers for music ? any recommendations
@Subwoofer101
@Subwoofer101 4 года назад
It's tough because the control that really shapes and flattens the response curve is found in the amps of really good subwoofers. It's the DSP that cleans everything up. The typical response of a basic subwoofer is to be loud from 50-90 hertz, and quieter under 40-50 hertz. This can translate to boominess in the 60-90 hertz range. If you aren't working with deep bass subs found on my list, you might need to adjust the crossover a little lower. The last time I tried to adjust a typical subwoofer, I was super super frustrated. Having a flat response really does make a massive difference when it comes to integrating subwoofers. You can also vary the fronts to get a slight change. Rather than run towers and center at 90 hertz, you could set the center at 60 hertz with the towers at 90, or vice versa. It's just a way to get an in between option. You just have to play with it.

Thanks! Keep in mind the PC 2000 Pro's are tall, and if you have a very noisy floor, it's going to be more of an issue with the downfiring sub. My floor happens to be noisy as all heck, so I tend to prefer front firing subs. If you're on concrete subfloor, it doesn't matter what you get. Otherwise both are great. I have the tower speakers facing inward like you suggest. I have been using the MultEQ app on my phone. My question is how can I get the best sound out of this system? What settings should I have the amp on. I watch mostly movies off my Kodi box and Netflix. Suggestions? I upgraded my system on Boxing Day. I had a denon 3500 but was underwhelmed. I had to turn it up too loud (85%) and was worried it wouldn’t last long running it that high. I’ve been watching your utube videos but there are so many I didn’t know where to start. Thanks! Have you gone through all of my Bass Hack Series? If you haven't learned Room EQ Wizard, that would be a good next step. That way you can shape the curve using the parametric EQs in the app. A blind recommendation is to try using one of the EQ's on each PB16 Ultra, set it to 29 hz, 2.5 boost, 2.5 Q. That should give you just a little more thunder down under. But it would be better to verify that using Room EQ Wizard. You could already have substantial output there, depending on how your room correction handled everything. So it might make it sound overdone. Also, I would definitely be running it in standard mode with all ports open. I'm not a fan of extended mode. Let me know if that helps!

@@Subwoofer101 thanks for the response. Yes, I have gone through the bass hack series, how do you think I got them to sound good? 😉. I have no idea how to use the EQ wizard (I'm assuming it's in the SVS app). Audessey set the gain to - 21 for the front sub and - 20 for the rear sub with - 3 and -6 in the Denon sound levels. Based on one your videos, I bumped up the gain 2db for each and they do sound awesome, getting the chest thump and sofa vibrations and all that good stuff. And yes of course, both are in standard mode, why would anyone think of blocking the ports. I've been reluctant to play with the SVS app but I'll give it try later today and let you know how it goes. Was wondering if you can help me make a decision? Should I go with dual PB-2000 Pros or dual SB-3000s? They are both similar in price point if you buy the SB-3000 from the outlet. But I emailed Scott from SVS and he really didn’t answer my question. I asked the same question I’m asking you to him. I look at the fact that the SB-3000s are 250 more watts than the 2000 Pros. So you’d think you are getting more for your money then. I am really looking forward to your video on the 2000 Pros. Thanks!

Sealed subs are less efficient than ported subs, so the added power is not the same thing as comparing ported to ported. For me, I prefer ported for a lot of reasons. They generally have more relative output under 40 hz. That translates to more explosiveness, and to me a deeper sound, despite the fact that the sealed will actually have greater extension. That greater extension tends to be in the subsonic area, where you cannot hear it. Within the SVS line, ported subs sound deeper, while the sealed subs tend to go deeper. I prefer the deeper sound myself. The other plus about the PB-2000 Pro's is that you can run them in the sealed mode, so you can try it both ways. You can't do that with the SB-3000. I also have something called Post Concussion Syndrome from an fall 19 years ago. I believe that affects my ability to tolerate sealed subs. The ported subs are very comfortable, yet the sealed subs causes slight pressure sensation in my ears. It's common for people with that condition to have increased light and sound sensitivity, and I absolutely do. This might come into play and not only for yourself, but for other listeners. People with headaches, autism spectrum, things like that. Dual ported subs adjusted correctly provide the most comfortable listening experience in my opinion. If it's no trouble, and you're inclined to support the channel, please follow one of my factory direct SVS links. If you can't, no worries, do what's best for you. Also keep in mind that with the one-year trade-up, you can upgrade to dual PB-3000's within a year, so long as you go factory direct. The PB-2000 Pro's are absolutely amazing, definitely an upgrade over the originals, But the PB-3000 are still better.

Hey man, I always love your videos. I would love to get into an SVS sub but I am a college student and they just aren't in my budget. I focus on finding subs in the pawn shops, Thrift Stores, and Craigslist. We are building a theater room that is 18ft by 24ft. We ran 4 sub cables through the wall into all 4 corners of the room. Because I shop for subs at Thrift stores, pawn shops and Craigslist, I don't have 4 of the same subs. I have an Infinity Entra sub, Yamaha sub, Klh sub and a Canton sub that has dual 8 inch subs in it. (all are 10 inch except for the Canton) Is there any advice that you could give me on how to best hook up all of those subs to work the best together eventhough they aren't the same brand? Sorry for the long question. 😞 Any help would be greatly appreciated!
@Subwoofer101
@Subwoofer101 4 года назад
I feel you, budget subwoofing is a challenge. I started my channel on a good amount of Craigslist equipment, so I understand where you're coming from. You won't get deep bass, but I would try to only match up subs that are the most similar. Ideally same driver size, port size, and orientation. In a perfect world, you want the sound waves to be identical so that you can get the constructive interference just right. That may sound a little esoteric and out there, but the bigger the difference in the subwoofers, the bigger the problems, that has been my experience. My next advice would be to save up around $800 or so, and wait for the next big sale from SVS, and get a pair of used PB-1000s for $350 each or so. Those subs are on my list, because I could honestly live with them for the rest of my life. They are that good. Of course the rest of the subs are better, but they still get the job done with authority. Impressive little 10" subs. Of course "little" is relative, lol. Pretty big boxes for tens. Maybe put out a change jar or something labeled "subwoofer donations". Resourcefulness is a great character trait, regardless of your goals in life, and you could see this as a project to hone those skills. I'm just thinking out loud. I just bought a SB-2000 a couple of months ago. If they destroy the resale value of it by slashing the price in half like they did to the NSD's I'm gonna be pissed.

Welcome back! Let me start by saying great channel! I literally watched all of your videos before pulling the trigger on a pair of PB-2000 PROs. Question though if I may, I realize the bigger subs have a higher volume and output that the smaller ones but if you were watching a movie at around 85-90dB, would the PB-2000 PROs feel and sound the same as a PB-16 Ultra? My room measures approx 2300ft3 and the PB-2000 PRO's sound fantastic but I can't help to wonder if a pair of 3000's or a single PB-16 Ultra would give me more 'chest thumping impact' at the SAME listening level. In other words, would it be a waste of money to get bigger subs if I'm not going to be at full volume on any of them? Thanks and please review these quick, I have 30 days left in my 45 day trial to decide if I will upsize or not. LOL

@@waymonfrench2077 I absolutely love them but I have no basis of comparison. My last subwoofer was at least 10 yrs old, 8" 150 watt being used in a room way too big for it. The PROs are more than loud enough with what I think is 'clean', 'tight' bass when played with music but again I have not heard any other subs for comparison. The PB-3000s are within my budget but just not sure if the bang for buck value is there or if I would even need them for my family's regular listening levels during movies. Being a guy though, I want the biggest and the baddest and may always be left wondering. LOL

@@darthsquider8586 thanks for the reply kim,i m like you the more positive comments I hear on the pb2000 pros the more I'm interested ,then again I keep thinking on the pb3000s a RU-vid friend of my was discussing this last night ,how much better is the pros compared to the originals if you go dual subs pros =1100watts power with dual 3000s =1600watts we keep going back and forth between these on deciding, I'm thinking this svs has a 45 day return policy I'm also thinking this 2 pb3000 is $2800 +tax sh depending on where you buy, I can get 3 pb2000 pros for $2735 out the door from my electronics dealer plus that's 1650watts with 3 for less lol but first I need to hear what two sounds like I have a living room that's just 22×19×8 I have some options hell I may on need just two and that may be all I need maybe more

You seem to be sponsored by SVS...kind of makes your reviews biased. Too bad you "jumped the shark" SVS is well known for giving subs for so called "good reviews". All of us "in the know" that PSA, HSU and Rythmik put out far more superiors subwoofers. AND they don't have to bribe people.

I'm not sponsored. I did ask them to develop their affiliate program to help make the channel more viable, but it's not captive or exclusive. My compensation is similar to Amazon, follow my link and buy something, and I can get a small commission. I don't have to talk about anything, but if something really excites me, I will recommend it. I am not obligated to say nice things, nor do I have any editorial input from them at all. Just like Amazon. I recommend the PB-3000 over the , PB-4000, which means lower sales for them and less commission for me, since the 4000 is higher priced. The difference in explosiveness and performance is small, so the cheaper PB-3000 is truly what I would choose. The fact is, few companies do bass quite like SVS does. That's an objective fact with measurements to prove it. I don't recommend their sealed subs, due to a medical issue that makes them uncomfortable. They are objectively great subs, but I can't tolerate them. If I was a true sell out, I'd be promoting them like crazy because they outsell ported 2-1. The Monolith 15 is a good sub, and I was happy to add another to my list. Monoprice has still never talked to me, while engaging other RU-vid creators, but they still got a good review. It's about the performance in the end, regardless of engagement. I also know that SVS does not "give" subs for reviews. If I want to own them, I have to buy them. They loan them to reviewers, but they are expected to return them, just as I do. But I understand the concern. I've painted myself into a corner with very high expectations when it comes to bass. No other maker has as many subs that I can honestly recommend than SVS does. But I still don't recommend EVERY SVS sub. Take all of that for what it's worth, but I will always place priority on my audience over SVS. My viewers are my top priority.
