A short video demonstration of my new press-mounted shotshell roll crimp kit. This tool kit allows reloaders to quickly and easily retrofit their Lee Precision single-stage press into a professional shotshell roll crimping machine, without the need for a drill press or hull vice.

i made my own for 10 gauge a while back as a test turns out chatter marks make a pin entirely unnecessary

I'm aware this is for a Lee press however I own a RCBS press.... Will this work with an RCBS single stage press????

I cannot say as I don't own or have access to one. The only models I guarantee compatibility with are those on the site, sorry.

Sweet! The only modification/ add on that would make it perfect, is a Jacob's chuck. If you're able to add that, then customers can use their favorite roll crimper or crimp finisher in the setup. This would also allow other attachments to be used with your tool, such as a hull trimmer or skiver. If you're able to integrate a "hull vise" of some kind into the shell holder portion, that would be awesome.

I've thought about hull vice before; the chuck is an interesting idea but it would quickly render the tool set prohibitively expensive to produce.

@@TATVCanada not really, offer it as an add on. You also wouldn't need a high quality Jacob's chuck, just one that's high enough quality to function reliably under an insanely light load, compared to all the other things they're used for. I'm looking at some of the chucks right now, and they're $26 usd from Tormach, for cnc work. Amazon has them for less. If you dig a little, you can probably do better than that. The rod in the design would be the perfect arbor, so whatever it costs you to make that, which would be the only machining to be done. So high estimate, $40 usd for materials. Time would be machining the taper or OD threading it if you can find a threaded chuck to work instead of a Jacob's taper, and assembly if you go with the taper. So you're in it for less than $50, probably closer to $30, offer it for $90 to $100 as an accessory. Not the world's best margin, also not really a big pain to make, mostly just shopping, and 1 op on bar stock. You should at least consider looking into it and prototyping it. This would be way less complicated than making a "hull vise" of some kind for the shell holder, as an accessory. Anyway, glad to see you innovating, keep up the good work Sir.

Nice, I like it. Now you need to add an optional tapering die to replace the roll crimper or maybe the roll crimper takes care of this. Different gauge crimpers & shell holders would make a cool set. Good stuff!

There will eventually be a 20g adapter, maybe even a 410. So many projects on the go right now; there just never seems to be enough time for everything.

What thread is that on the main body that threads in place of the die, is it 7/8"-14 or does that Lee press need a different size/thread? I NEED ONE OF THESE! :) Great job good sir
@TATVCanada
@TATVCanada Год назад
7/8-14; standard 'reloading die' threads.
