Pressure Drop One Of My Favorites From Death & Co.

In this episode Leandro wonders if this drink was named after a Jimmy Cliff song, talks a bit about Meletti Amaro and Ransom Old Tom Gin and describes the cocktail as usual.
The Pressure Drop was created in 2009 by bartender Thomas Waugh from Death and Company in New York City (The Original One). Not much to say on this one, but I do speak a bit about the Amaro and Old Tom gin in this one so it's definitely worth a gander. And this drink is the truth so definitely go make it! Enjoy!

May the algorithm be ever in your favor. And I particularly liked the discussion of the Amaro (tasting notes and history). Drilling down into details about "here's why the drink calls for this specifically" or "here's why you use this technique to build it" is why I tune in. So big thumbs up on this episode.

Great video. Any chance at all you could start adding more comparisons to these cocktails, if even something along the lines of which “family” of cocktails you would put something in? Many of the ingredients you pull out are not only hard to find in places other L.A., but before committing to gathering them all I’d love to know what flavor palette I’m getting into. Keep up the great work, please and thanks!

Now this is a first. I was looking for a cocktail to use my Amaro Meletti that I just found in my liquor cabinet to my own bafflement cause I don't recall buying it but hey not gonna look a gift bottle in the mouth. I was more surprised however that when I popped in "cocktails with amaro moletti" that Google pulled up a The Educated Barfly cocktail in the results. Glad to see you guys are getting those much needed impressions outside of RU-vid that you deserve.

Hey guys! You're doing an amazing job on this channel and I watch and enjoy most of what you do. However, I have some critique : Leandro, you're a right handed guy. So, keep your bottles on your right. Right? Marius, (spelling?) tell Leandro to keep his mise on his right. Then, tell him to hide the caps in his left while he works that jigger. Then he can move less to achieve more and it also looks a lot better. Takes a bit of practice but you will thank me later. I promise! Also, do "world's best gin and tonic" by Emil Åreng. GnT, inside an espresso martini, served as a TC. 50 ml dry gin 20 ml lemon 25 ml excellent coffee syrup Highball it with some quality tonic. Try it - you might like it! Edit: tipsy spelling edit.

Estimates: ABV: 30.7% Sugar: 87 (g/l) P.S. Not exactly sure about the sugar content of the Meletti (my guess is around 270 g/l). And also stirring for 10 seconds more has about the same effect than using a 40% instead of a 44% gin here, so yeah, that definitely wasn't "over-stirred".

Concerning Amaro, it seems like every recipe you do uses a different one, and I really don't feel like buying a new bottle every time I want to try one of these drinks (nor do I have the space to store all the leftovers). I realize they're all quite different from each other, but there's got to be a few that you might consider to be universal or representative enough of their type that they could be used as substitutes (I do keep a bottle of Montenegro that I use for Black Manhattans). Any recommendations?

@TheEducatedBarfly

Cold air falls. Warm air rises. When you have a big ass piece of ice sitting on top it keeps that chill surrounding the liquid even when the ice ISNT directly touching the drink.
