How I converted a vevor pressure pot to he used for resin casting. With a bicycle pump.
Disclaimer:
I am a High school Physics Teacher with a small amount of experience in building things like this.
Try at your own risk, pressure pots can be very dangerous. When working with resin use the correct PPE such as gloves and a respirator if needed.
Corrections: I use loctite 545 not 454 as stated.

I poured a bit of 2 part plat silicone in the bottom of mine. it made a nice self leveled flat bottom and you can clean spilled resin off of it easily.

I'm in the USA. Thanks for this video. Brass Male 3/8 BSP x 1/4 Female BSP (for the oem Vevor check valve) purchased on the bay from a seller in China. 1/4 BSP male to 1/4 NPT male purchased on the bay from a UK seller. This allowed me to use new 1/4 NPT parts for everything else. La-Co - 49050 LA-CO Anaerobic Industrial Pipe Thread Sealant (from a reputable company in Chicago). Was able to remove all the original fittings pretty easily after heating with an electric heat gun.

I have the same pot and couldn't get the pipe off with a pipe wrench. It was just too smooth to get a decent grip. I used some vice grips to clamp onto the pipe and then twisted it off. It was very well connected. I wanted to keep the option to convert it back to a paint pot one day, but for all the people who don't care about that just cut it off with a hacksaw.

They make a yellow tape for sealing gas connections here in the US. Its similar to the regular Teflon tape.

To connect the bike pump to the pressure pot, would you say there are various sizes, googling it has appeared trickier than one would expect to get a straight answer so thought to ask here. thanks

Hi! I make dice for RPG games, so I doubt my homemade craft is useful to show you. However I can confirm it still holds pressure at 50 PSI. Tested last weekend.

Just realised there's no release valve/outlet...? Even though there's the ball valve, the schrader valve is in the way and there's no release mechanism on that. When it's done curing, how do you release the pressure? Through the pressure relief valve?

What size joint is on the pressure gauge to properly fit in the inlet side? Looking to make the same thing for some resin casting :) Did the pressure guage that came with it not work for the way you wanted?

As this guide is a bit old I can't remember now. The one that came with was rubbish and leaked. You'll have to order your own and measure it unfortunately.

@@marksy5560 yea thats fair haha! I looked through your old comments and saw you said to someone else with the same question that it was 1/4" - Good to know the one it comes with is crap! already ordered the chamber, getting the extra bits now! thanks for your video showing its possible :D

Regarding the Loctite, I take it you just put it on all the threads before you screw them in right? about to buy all this stuff, just want to be sure on the sealant. Not convinced by the teflon tape I see a lot of Americans using in their videos. Thanks for the video, incredibly helpful.
@marksy5560
@marksy5560 10 месяцев назад
Yes, as you stated just put some on the threads. Be careful it permenantly fixes it down. I would do a draft build with Teflon tape first as its cheap. This will help find any big holes without anything being permenant.

@@AliceKnast the gauges? I brought a 1/4" pressure gauge. One hole on the pot is 1/4" this is what I mounted my inlet to. The other hole is 3/8". I brought an adapter to mount the 1/4" safety valve to that.
