I pressure washed my Case 30+4 a few years ago and found many items that needed addressing... like you found.. pins nearly out, bushings worn but not visibly until washing.... I cleaned , sanded and painted with original paint ( from agri supply) replaced pins and bushings as were obvious after washing... I have a nice, reliable and usable machine now.. I AM AN ABSOLUTE believer in "wash first, then diagnose!" (When I had a VW repair shop years ago, I would charge (then) $20 extra if the customer had not cleaned their engine/ mechanical parts before bringing it to me. I had to do so much more work if they had not ( and might miss items also)
I dont know if the B models are like the older 580 CK's but if they are, and you havent noticed yet, look for greases fittings on the rear axle housing, backside of the wheels, top-side. The bearings arent lubricated with the gear oil from "pumpkin" of the axle - instead they require grease.
A scraper and wire brush would have saved you some time with the steam cleaner. Knock off the heavy deposits, spray it down with some purple crap and then put the steam to it.
Nice job bringing it back to life. I've been looking for one for a while but I can Not find anything even close to the deal you got on this one. I want a Case 580E.
cleaned our case 580 B,C,D,E, K backhoes many times growing up, dirt and grease just collect on them, but never seen anything like that encasement of stuff
Hi Mike nice to meet you i used to run 580s back in the day see if you get the backhoe boom in the carry position theres a trick to it , ps it puts weight on the front wheels makes ti handle and front bucket work some what better ill be watchin have fun
Hopefully it just needs injectors cleaned, or maybe a new injection pump. What kind of air volume is coming out of the draft tube (assuming a properly sealing fill cap is in place).
I bought an Allidian power washer 25 years ago. Only had to replace the coil with an upgraded HD one. Still working today. How come you didn't wash it 1st thing when you got it home?
You need some lug bolts in those front wheels. Maybe replace them with studs and nuts. It appears that the loader frame and bucket have sustained some damage and needs some work done.
Ok, a great work so far. But hopefully you regreased her alle theway trough, because powerwashing meens you blow water in to all joints you have washed. And then I think you now have to change the oil in the motor, since you still only have the ole bottle as oilcap. Remember, oil swims on water, so when you pull the oilpin there always will be fin oil on it. You have put so many hours and good work in to this projekt until now. It would be a shame if you mees it up with a powerwasher.Btw, she looks rely better after the bath. but remeber the "afterwork". Good luck.
someone here on this page mention changing the oil. use good sense about changing oil. I, believe the owner would rather change the oil after HE POWER washes the equipment.. seems like to me it would be wise to change the oil after power WASHING THEN changing the oil before power washing. work smarter not harder misfit.🙃
Sigh, now you can look for cracks and damage. Paint is a must to protect the iron. Btw might get rid of that soft drink bottle oil cap and get the real thing before ya trash that engine for real.
You pretty much did the impossible. Be proud, man. Oh, and it's yellow. Nice! But you run like Walter Brennan from The Real McCoys. (You're probably too young to get that) lol.
someone here on this page made a smart remark about safety glasses. well don't were you're safety glasses MISFIT THEN loose you're EYE site. again I don't want dangerous people working around m🙃e. misfits are the biggest failures.
I, bought a 1973, ford 5- ton DUMP TRK. and a 1966, case ck DIESEL 530 backhoe. I've GOT BANK gravel on my land I need to mine out for the roads on the farm.😊
