Awesome! In my 50's. My frist concert. Rediscovered my love of The Pretenders again and have been listening to all their music again and reading her biography (having also lived in Akron for a few years.)

51 on July 4. Yours is only a few months away, so I will wish you a happy birthday now.

Same for me, 20 when I heard the debut album at college, 60 and working from home now. And Pretenders are still rockin' my headphones.

PRETENDERS II was my first and still The Best. But you are right, didn't like too much The soft sound of The late 80s,but The songs were good and on charts

Okay stuff but there is just no comparison or link to I and II. It’s not even in the same universe! That magic was lost forever with the passing of James Honeyman-Scott. Nobody before or since has ever replicated his amazing sound! That incarnation of the Pretenders was immortal and stands alone!!!

Đanfranko Geza Martinčić I do have to do a bit of an addendum to my last comment. I did just listen to a couple of other songs from the new album and specifically “The Buzz” does feel like early Pretenders.

I absolutely must agree with you! It has been 2 years since this album was released, and I still listen to it at least one or two times a week! I haven't done that since pretenders one and two and of course last of the Independents. But poor Chrissie has such terrible luck when it comes to album releases! Unfortunately this was released as we know, during the height of the pandemic. She had a monster summer tour scheduled with journey that would have been awesome to have seen! On top of that, radio stations give the pretenders absolutely zero support because they are 45 plus year old band, of course punish the successful. But I also like the solo album Stockholm. I listen to that one for at least a year. I will always be forever devoted to Chrissie and the pretenders!!! She is my idol she is my touch Stone and I feel absolutely honored that I actually got to meet her in 1994 for the last of the Independents Rock this club tour! It literally was the highlight of my life! I've seen them over 20 times, and I love James Walburn! He is the first lead guitar player that actually distracted me from the front person especially Chrissie hynde! I somehow always make a fool of myself at thier concerts by screaming Chrissie Chrissie Chrissie the whole time. But the first time I saw the new lineup I would say Chrissie and then look at James and say You're sick and I'd say Chrissie lol😂

Couldn’t disagree more! There is nothing like the early Pretenders! It’s good but nowhere near what they were on the first 2 albums with James Honeyman Scott, Pete Farndon and an angry fresh wide Chrissy Hynde!!
