Agreed. Not even have him as part of the plot necessarily, maybe just in the background stocking shelves or working at the computer, occasionally joining the main conversation when relevant. But other than that, nobody ever mentions how Ben came to be employed there or if he even managed to secure actual employment or not so it's just assumed that he is just there as an unpaid slave of Rowan..

Yeah... all starting off with him coming in as a customer and Rowan going completely mental on him for not wearing his uniform and coming too late. And then docking his non existant pay for all the days he failed to show up to work. :D
