'Pretty Baby: Brooke Shields' trailer debuts on ‘GMA’ l GMA 

I was born in 1973 and when I was a little girl, I remember thinking Brooke Shields was glamorous and beautiful. I will be fifty in October and now that I am of an age to have a child or grandchild old enough to be expolited the way she was, I want to go back in time and protect her. The people around her, her own Mother included, took advantage of her and needed to be told off for what they were doing. It makes me feel blessed to have the Mom I did who protected me and walked through fire for me to keep me safe. Not every little girl is as lucky as I was. She is a true survivor to come out on the other side of that and to be able to tell her story.

Her Beauty was so unique, like it was so beyond our world. She literally looked like a Goddess. An actual Goddess.

So inspiring it's reality so brave of her to put this out , true Inspiration n motivation to everyone

Ohh how wonderful. Those Calvin Klein jeans. I must've been about ten when I first learned about Brooke Shields. I'm so glad she's getting her story out like this. It's difficult to be so pervasively sexually objectified. That goes for all of us. Even more so when it starts so young. And then there's the whole public-eye/fame microscope too for her. A voice and autonomy. And individuating, too. So important for all children and for girls growing up under the male gaze of patriarchal dominance.

i remember watching tomorrow with tom snyder and he did one show on shields where he opened by starting with her face and panning down to her topless, clearly showing that she was prepubescent this was on network tv i was a kid and i was totally freaked out they did sexualize her and im still amazed that adults seemed to have no problem with doing that

My only question is "Where were the parents?"

I always thought Brooke Shields was gorgeous and in the same category as Liz Taylor. One of kind classic beauties. I actually do not understand how her mother let her do such things. This just reinforces to me the sexualizing of children today under the guise of of sex education and schools having porn in the school libraries. The school boards should be charged with child porn distribution.

I can't wait to see it too just like the others on here. However, I didn't know she felt trapped or used/exploited like this. At least she should have been greatful that her beauty enabled her to become so much and financially rich. If she didn't like it, she should have told someone. She was lucky to be born so beautiful, but I understand, in a way. Maybe some counseling would have helped? I didn't see her as a sexual being (why does everything have to be sexual and conforming to a man's standards?!), but I did think she was gorgeus and anybody with eyes can see that. :-)

Even the trailer is traumatic looking. :/ I applaud this incredibly inspiring woman.. but I won’t watch it. I think the scariest thing about this whole story is that her mom… her mom is the one who allowed everything to happen. Anytime I hear a story where the parents are involved in the unfolding of a child.. that irrevocable damage.. the beginning of a horrible story for a child.. you see that danger, that lack of protection.. that complete dismissal to protect your child, it just scars me. It creeps me out so much to the core that I can’t even forget those stories. Her mother was a monster. I understand Brooke stand up for her, i understand. I don’t care what anybody says about the Mother. Terri was a monster. My parents were & are wonderful. But I’ve got friends who have gone through this stuff. I can’t understand it & it creeps me out. I don’t agree when people “it wasn’t about Brooke, it’s about women..” No, it is about Brooke bc it happened to her.

I think the sexual pictures of Brooke as a child are gross and I try to avoid them and skip to other parts. She did nothing wrong and I believe her when she gives her perspective. But I think she is still in denial. The point isn't only what she was feeling at the time but rather she should not have been put in those situations in the first place and sexualizing children is wrong in the second place. I don't remember all the scenes from Blue Lagoon but she was a teenager by that time and think that movie falls within the spectrum of acceptable, especially since her co star was around her age.

What did she do to her face now

I think Brooke Shields is still processing what happened to her.

I never knew she went through some horrible situations that she held onto due to the industry.

Somehow I have a feeling there is no intention to give back the millions of dollars made by being “victimized“. Very akin to athletes and others who live a privilege, life, and then attack and bite the hand that feeds them. Again, with no intention of giving back the fortunes or the soap boxes they’ve been given.
