Super thanks dude! Love that I can be a part of this amazing hobby. Yeah no dissing major pinball manufacturers but there's just no replacement for spending time and effort on the little details to make a project like this perfect. They can't compete when there's a bottom line to reach and the extras take too much time and cost more. My vpin cabinet will probably out live me the way I built it....lol. thanks for the watch and your support for the channel!

Yup.... being Canadian means... pinball parts are not cheap! I was posted to Petawawa, Ontario when I built mine. So there wasn't "any" electronics related parts to buy nearby anywhere as its pretty isolated, and everything took forever to get there! Despite being an electronics tech, I just did whatever messy hack solution worked at the time. Seeing your immaculate clean build makes me super jealous! I'm still using my hacked up xbox 360 gamepad, lol (my KL25Z is only for nudge / tilt bob). Very nice work!

Yeah it's crazy how much stuff is here in Canada..... it's literally 50 to 60% higher. Don't be jealous, every build deserves love for the time and effort we put into them. I had a blast building mine and I'm looking forward to setting up some Terry Red FP tables! Thanks for the watch and the props! Cheers!

"It's just money...." The catch cry I have been using for months doing my build. Amazingly I am at the point of having to fit my painted backbox to the cab and as you mentioned in past videos about paint, oil based paint is touch dry in 24 hours but even after a week is still not cured and can easily stick and come off especially when a little thick so I love that tip with hte wax since I litterally thought about that just 30 minutes ago thinking I wanted to start fitting monitors and stuff but dont want it to stick when loaded. Damn, I have actually a spare KL25Z board already flashed with Pinscape and tested but I decided to install a Cleveland Software Design PinOne solution since that is so much neater and self contained than messing with power supplies and all that cabling.... would also solve almost every issue in this video since everything is a simple plugin connector. Costs a little extra but even with the $500au shipping and import taxes, it saves so much time.
@wayofthewrench
@wayofthewrench 10 месяцев назад
Yeah it's just money but money's also money.....lol. it's easy to spend too much too. Yeah I'm sure the pinone system is good, just a bit pricey for me. Glad the wax trick worked for ya. Thanks for the watch!

Fantastic series! I had my cabinet pretty much done and your series inspired me to add some toys, SSF, addressable LEDs and completely re-do my front end. I did my build about 2 years ago and I also painted the inside of my cab white and used those same plastic wire minders and they are awesome. Sorry you fried your KL25Z. They are incredibly hard to find right now. So if anyone is looking to start a project, but can't find a KL25Z one option is to check out Cleveland Software Design. He has all kinds of interface, expansion boards and virtual pin parts. Thanks again for doing this series and hopefully getting more people interested in this very cool hobby. Side note - you can also use the end of your soldering iron (just not the very tip) to melt the heat shrink tubing.

Thank you very much for your kind words! How's your vpin build going? Don't be sad, there will be lots of vpin videos to come and new arcade projects as well as automotive/welding videos too. No I actually forgot about that. I need to see if there is room as I have lots of that anti vibration mat left over. Thanks for the reminder and the watch! Cheers!

Cabinet is going okay, I just got my graphics on and am starting the inside now. The software part is scaring me a bit due the amount of info out there and determining what is outdated and what is new. Looking forward to more of your brilliant videos!@@wayofthewrench

You're videos are very helpful. I’m following your instructions to check if my power supply is grounded but my multimedia doesn’t beep. What should I look for on the display to verify ground?
@wayofthewrench
@wayofthewrench 4 месяца назад
Multimeter? Yeah most don't have a beep function but all of them will go to zero or close to zero when you put the leads together. Hope that helps. Thanks for the watch!
@kowalkk1
@kowalkk1 4 месяца назад
@@wayofthewrench Meant to type multimeter (haha). Anyway, I think I figured it out. I was touching a part of the case that wasn't grounded so getting nothing and getting really high numbers on the other side of the case. I got lower numbers when holding the probes more steady.

@shivorath 10 месяцев назад
Possibly, depending on condition and desirability. A real pinball machine can also be MUCH more expensive depending on those same factors. Although I would question the fairness of comparing a single pinball table to a virtual pin that can house effectively infinite tables.
@wayofthewrench
@wayofthewrench 10 месяцев назад
God no. A decent pinball machine is $7,000-20,000 and it's only one. You might get a worn out EM one for $1,000. I spent roughly $1,500 for my vpin. Thanks for the watch!
