i replaced the intake manifold as well since it was only 55$ with sensors and gaskets. but i drove to long with the pcv clogged and the oil was pretty bad because of it now waiting on valve cover gasket and oil pan gasket so we can clean out the sludge this weekend not looking forward to that lol
Alot of work but hopefully that takes care of the issue,i would also recommend changing your oil more often to prevent that from happening again,i change my oil every 4000 miles due to the fact that they have low tension piston rings and having clean oil helps prevent your engine from burning oil and so far I haven’t had any major problems with mine.
@@MTG6.2 yes ofc I'm keeping track of it from now on its my wife's car she went over 10k miles maybe even more I did do a engine flush at the last oil change but I still see sludge in there so that's why we are going to do all this
Do GM mechanics know this? My 2017 Equinox is in the shop now for blown rear main, this is the second time in 13 months, both times in very cold weather. This is a pretty expensive repair to have every winter.
The service bulletin is pretty old so I doubt they even look for it but yes if they try hard enough they can find it and if the rear main started leaking again in 13 months makes me think they did not removed the intake to clean out the pcv system as stated on The bulletin on the video also the ecm needs to have be up-dated to current calibrations and would recommend changing the oil before winter around november to try and remove any moisture in the oil and to try to prevent it on mine i replaced my oil cap and havent had aproblem with mine and this pass week the wheater its been in the negative numbers. Hope it helps
@@kenledbetter4979 need to clean the pcv orifice in the intake manifold or you will just keep blowing seals they should of known this the first time u took it in its a common issue with the 2.4
Rear main already blown. Want to trade vehicle and just need to know if either bars rear main leak stop or atp-205 leak stop is oksy to put in engine to not drip on dealership parking lot.
I honestly would not recommend any of those products it may or may not help but some times they can just leave a mess inside the engine especially in newer engines where tolerances are really tight, but it is up to you if you want to use them,i personally would not use any stop leak or any of those products to stop a leak, but if your going to trade it in anyways like i said it may or not stop the leak depending on how bad it is but i wouldn’t think it would harm anything right away i would take some time to actually do any harm i would say.
I put one on mine this winter and did not blow a rear main yet ill see what happens next year haha hopefully it does not blow it if it does then I guess I’ll be doing a video on it
Also helps changing the oil before winter and yeah i do my oil changes every 4000 miles ,idling the engine alot and short trip drives where the engine does not get to operating temp can cause excessive moisture in the pcv system causing it to freeze when cold
