Mr. Goodpliers brings along a new friend and goes back to revisit the prewar Ford hoard! Trees have been cut, the cars and trucks have been pulled out of the woods, and a motorcycle has been discovered! But what is it?? We have a look inside the house and carriage barn. What did we find? Come along and see!

The negative comments on the kid are ridiculous. It is how you keep the hobby alive.. pass it on. Same as fishing or hunting. If you take them along they will develop interest. Get some patience people.

People used to tell kids not to touch glassware, and now that's a class of antiques that has cratered in value, because the next generation has no interest. If it is not passed on, the next generation will have no interest in preserving this history. Take him along. In time he will be one to carry on our hobby. That boy will outlive all of us.

When I was 17 there was an auction scheduled on a weekday. There was a 1947 Chrysler limousine, a car I knew nothing about, I just knew that it was magnificent. My dad called the school to explain that I was going to be choosing an automotive career path and the things I would learn that day at the sale would be more useful to my future than whatever algebra or Shakespeare they had for me that day. Almost twenty years later I remember that day and the relics I saw, but nothing of whatever that day's homework was. When Henry moved down the street from me, he let me know the first time we met that he liked Model T's. It was important to me to be able to share this place with him, just like my dad did for me. He will outlive me and probably 99 percent of those of us watching this channel, so I want to be able to pass this hobby on to a kid who has interest in cars instead of video games.

A sad way to realize that no matter how much you have of ‘things’ and perceived wealth…. None if it matters in the end. After we’re gone, and everything is taken or given away. Then spread out and sold to people that have no thought about the person that collected it. Live then ends with the only thing remaining…. MEMORIES… good or not about your life. 😊

Unless I'm mistaken, that "motorcycle" is a Simplex. They ran small-displacement engines that were often replaced with Briggs & Stratton.

I've seen bigger piles of old cars like that out in Western Kansas. Unfortunately they were mostly half buried in old ground silos.

Back in the day. You could have your scissors, swing blade, knives and anything with a cutting edge sharpened by the roaming grindstone man who would ramble on a regular route monthly. The grindstone could be like those you saw which were out on trailer or farm wagon. Even had type the mounted to wheelbarrow frame and pushed through the neighborhoods.

Yep that is a Simplex motorxcycle . made in the south. They were a fairly cheap motorcycle from what I was told.

The motorcycle is a simplex servi cycle. It takes a little Briggs and Stratton motor, single speed. Little around town around the block scooter motorcycle.

I remember seeing people move something of value that they wanted and move it to another box and hide it on the bottom hidden by junk. A few bad people out there but most are honest. That is an auction I would like to attend.

It was a great sale! I was amazed that people were very honest on sale day. Also, amazingly nothing was stolen from the property prior to the auction.

I would be in hog heaven out there and I would bring several of those home with me if at all possible. I haven't seen a place like that around here in fifty years ! This summer I might have to make a trip out there and do some scouting around !

All of these shown in the video have sold to collectors, but you'd sure be welcome to come look around at the Rust Ranch and at my place. Lots of 1940s-80s cars and trucks for projects and parts. We are near Wichita Kansas

i sure hope most of these things went to a good home. often with these auctions the auctioneers dont understand the full value of things and in a rush will often throw a lot away. these old cars and parts grow ever rarer by each day.
@mr.goodpliers6988
@mr.goodpliers6988 3 года назад
The auctioneers responded pretty well to people picking things out of the piles as long as they offered $10 or $20 for an item. A lot of the piles got picked pretty clean... there wasn't a great amount left for the scrap man after

@@mr.goodpliers6988 Great to hear that so much ended up saved and in the hands of enthusiasts. Just watched the video of the auction and it seems like it went really well :) i have been to auctions where they threw away Many cool items prior to the actual auction due to lack of understanding which is why i was afraid that would be the case this time. It seems this time even the bent old carcasses from the bone pile got a second chance which is really a nice turnout :). You did a great job documenting This for the world to see.

Motorcycle looks like a Simplex Automatic ServiCycle. They came out in the 20s and ran through the 60s I believe. Restored a 1957 a couple years ago. A real old guy in the states is still selling parts for them or reproducing parts you might need. Knows everything about them.

@@mr.goodpliers6988 The 60-70-80 Renaults were rust buckets in UK as we get rain on average once a week and the potential rust pockets in the cars stayed wet from first time they came out of factory. I had R16 and even it's fuel tank rusted out! But car itself was reliable and I drove it all over UK. It also had velour upholstery and on a hot day getting out after a long drive the static jolt from the door handle would have been enough to electrocute Pelosi, Biden and Harris !
