It should be noted that in a lot of the commonly accepted lore, they're usually adolescent predators doing the hunting. And for the superior technology they DO use, they are ultimately still holding back. It's about the hunt, the experience. Real life hunters still use things like camouflage and guns against wild animals to tilt things in their favor.
Advanced technology (modern weapons) have nothing to do with taking on a Predator. As we have already seen a Predator toss his weapons aside to fight Dutch 1v1.. The Yakuza member also killed a Predator with only a sword. Defeating a Predator takes intelligence, cunning, courage and luck.. weapons are only a small part of it
disney just making bank on old titles, that directors done, i never in my life wanted to see a sequal or sequels to movies, thats what makes them great, its the idea of it, not following someone elses idea, but its gonna make them money for this generation. i think we lost all hope for newer titles. only remake in the world to me that was awesome was john carpenters the thing with kurt russell, and to me the greatest film of all time, because thats how you end a film, watch it to see what i mean
@@jespertin691 The Thing is a spectacular film but it was also an adaptation of a novella and a 30 year's later remake of The Thing from Another World.
@@jespertin691 Original Predator: Elite Commando team of +12 equipped with rockets, grenade launchers, high powered rifles, high end machetes, technicals, air support, and a minigun barely "win" a fight with a small predator. If you're really interested theres a comic that ties the pistol to the Predator 2 movie. It belonged to a pirate captain that was mutinied by his own men, eventually teaming up with the Predator. The captain gifted the pistol to the Predator in the end repeating the phrase "Take it." which the predator tells Danny Glover at the end.
They said this movie was going to break gender norms and since we know Hollywood doesn't care anything about Native American culture they're going to exploit it just how they exploit the blacks in any other minority group but I'm still watch the movie though
Reasons I'm hyped: 1) The film is set in a time within human history, rather than modern times. This will do several good things for the franchise, particularly returning it to it's roots: hunt or be hunted. Not only that, we'll get to see one fairs against a predator with bows 'n arrows and axes only. 2) The feral predator's design. It's friggin' badass. Personally, I think he's the best looking yet. 3) We have a female lead, which is also deviating from typical tropes with the franchise. Sure, I can see the controversy and concerns (I have my own). But I'm curious. Can the film convince me that a woman with no significant weaponry best a predator? If so, how? Obviously, she'll have to rely on wit and survival skill more than strength, speed, or weaponry. Can it be believable? 4) Again, referring back to Feral, we get to see the species at a time when it's tech was different and less advanced (which is still pretty advanced). What new things will we be shown? How will it differ to what we've already seen? Will some be earlier renditions of what currently exists within the lore, like a prototype? 5) Stemming from the last point, I'm curious to see how this film will connect to the first or second film, if at all. Perhaps, as mentioned, we'll see an earlier version of a weapon we're familiar with. Or perhaps we'll see the inspiration behind why predators created biomasks (I'm not sure if Feral is wearing one). Or maybe we'll see some sort of influence of Native mythology. I'm thinking of Billy from the first film. He seemed more keen to the presence of the predator before anyone else. Perhaps that has something to do with stories passed down through generations that had roots in THIS story. My concerns: 1) Due to that one line, "Because you all think that I can't," I worry this will have a lot of sociopolitical commentary about women, the patriarchy, etc. Films these days have too much tokenism, virtue-signaling, and pandering. I just want a good film that helps me escape into a different world, not speak on the real one. It's not that I necessarily disagree with what it might have to say about feminine capability, but if they're going to go that route, I hope that it's believable, fits into the story, and is balanced with what we actually want. 2) Again, referring to a female lead, I hope this film is believable in terms of how she beats the predator (assuming she does). She's obviously nowhere near as strong or fast, nor does she have advanced weaponry. Hell, even the male leads from the first two films had to rely on wit and skill rather than weaponry and brute strength. 3) Predictably. Predator movies have common tropes. While I'm very pleased to see the film is following the same vibe as the first two, and arguably the third (let's not even acknowledge the fourth and forget it exists), I hope for enough difference and surprises that it stands out. What I like about the third film was that it introduced multiple predators hunting instead of one, as well as a different approach to hunting altogether (taking the prey to a different planet, rather than coming to theirs). Perhaps a surprise plot twist would be is that the predator actually wins! While we all like to root for the "hero," I'd argue it would make sense for the woman to lose. If this is the first predator to visit Earth and hunt humans, how would others learn of our existence and location if the predator dies? Or, perhaps the predator does lose, and the surviving humans use its technology to propel humanity forward into the modern age. Maybe others of its species note this and then design the self-destruct mechanism so to avoid further mistakes so humans can't develop further? I dunno. I'm just spitballing here. All that to say, I want the same tone of the first two but with enough difference to make it interesting. That said, I'm eagerly awaiting August 5th. This franchise is a classic and is one of my favorites growing up. The first two films were awesome. The third had its moments, but wasn't as good in my opinion. And the fourth? Absolute trash. This franchise is in need of redemption/revival, and I'm hoping Prey is just that.
Women were always good at weaponry in history in many tribes/"societies"/etc. - in fact, there are tons of tombs of women who were buried with weapons.
Also, a man also cannot beat a "beast" without weapons, either. In movies there are too many unrealistic stuffs going on about men and you do not complain about them, but this? Of course there will be female leads and also women who can fight and are even strong physically as it happens in real life as well.
I’m thinking they’re leaning more into the fact that she’s an adolescent and inexperienced as opposed to it being just becashe is a woman or something dumb like that.
Why is everyone complaining about the predator possibly being beaten by “sticks and stones” I guess these people haven’t heard of Dutch vs the predator in the original.
A Major on the Green Berets, veteran from Vietnam compared with a tiny little girl. And he barely escaped with his head. Will you say it's the same thing?
@@Eduardo_Ventura as far as I know, people back then man and woman were pretty physically capable, they had to hunt for food and all that. So yes I will still say that.
The difference is that Dutch was a 6'2, 230 lbs elite soldier and he still only survived because the Predator got cocky and wanted to fist fight him at the end. A 90 lbs girl should have no chance.
Just watched Prey and I have to say that it’s a pretty good addition to the franchise , not comparing it to Arnie’s one or even Danny’s one but good all the same !
Was looking forward to watching another predator movie but seems disney expects me to pay hulu when Im already paying for disney plus. Why is this blocked on US disney plus ?
@@kurtdewittphoto So women need to try harder? What about Sarah Connor or Ripley? Did people say that in the 80s? I was there, and they didn't. It's troubling how much fault people find in other people based on gender alone. Lets wait and see before we demand that this woman needs to try harder for your acceptance because of her vagina alone.
*This trailer makes us represent of how Predator gets to be sneaky and silent like in the first film. Also the Predator clicking is satisfying throughout the trailer!*
I didn't know anything about this movie prior to watching this trailer, and I was going, "hmmm, so it's basically Predator but with Native Americans." Then a few moments later, "OH, it *_is_* Predator with Native Americans!!" 🤣🤣🤣 But yeah, this looks excellent. Looking forward to it.
I have a feeling that this is gonna suck. Previous predator movies expanded on the lore. Besides why is the predator using a plasma caster when it should be using more of its wrist blade or other things to make it a fair hunt.
Isn't this the movie they were making to keep the rights away from the original creators who by contract are supposed to get the rights back now? Also if it's on Disney plus I'm willing to bet it's PG-13
Raphael Adolini was a great warrior who fought WITH a predator. The pistol was given to the predator as a gift, thats why it was given at the end of predator 2.
The timeline is all jacked up...in AVP it showed the predators had shoulder canons and more advanced weapons when fighting the Aliens in the Aztec temples. In Prey the predator has primitive tech..the Aztec empire came before the Prey timeline so what gives
if she did the mud thing like dutch, wouldn’t the predator have learned to adapt? which means that dutch shouldn’t have gotten away with covering his body in mud? cus i thought each new gen of predators evolves and adapts from the previous one?? am i wrong or?? someone pls explain😅
@@krlosz1996 there were several predators that died (the one dutch killed) and other predators (in other movies) were able to adapt from the one that died (e.g. people could no longer hide in mud bc the predators had the technology to detect people in the mud)
You are not wrong. The predators do indeed advance their strategies and tactics after each hunt. But remember that predators live in clans, and clans pretty much do their own thing. If this predator is not from the same clan as the Jungle hunter from Predator, then it could very well be that he never learned/heard of the mud tactics.
Awesome scene when she dives into river and swims into beaver den.. the way she's trying to hide and bear getting closer snapping wood and then the bear dies the way its being drug out and then the predator lifts grizzly over his head and look on girls face..... this movie 🎬 is going to be big

Fax how tf are they able to make war for the planet of the apes where the entire movie the apes speak sign language and just had subtitles but they can’t do it for this.
Some people will say its ridiculous for a girl to kill a Predator with nothing but sticks and rocks but the thing is Predators actually respect the rules of the hunted. If they want to fight close quarters with hand to hand or melee weapons The Predator must abide by these rules. To do anything else is considered a grave offense in their society.
@@gmichielon Since she was using a range weapon the predator could also use it. Stealth is fine if its outnumbered but it has to reveal its self for the climax of the hunt. I read it in one of the books.

Maybe the won't be a winner, the predictor might spare her life after she gives it hell during the hunt as a sign of respect just like in Alien vs predator movie.

The Predator goes back to the ancient times, huh?? Now maybe we'll see where he got that colonial times pistol that he threw to Danny Glover in Predator 2.
In the Predator film series, humans have used guns to harm the Predators, but it's often portrayed as a difficult task. The Predators are shown to have advanced technology, including armor that can withstand bullets and other weapons. In the first Predator film, the human characters use a variety of weapons, including guns, in an attempt to kill the Predator. While they are able to injure the Predator, it ultimately proves to be a formidable opponent. In the end, the Predator is defeated not through traditional weapons, but through the use of improvised traps and weapons. In subsequent films in the series, the humans continue to use guns against the Predators, but the Predators' advanced technology and abilities make it a challenging task. In some cases, the humans are able to harm the Predators with guns, but it is usually through the use of specialized ammunition or weapons. Overall, while humans can use guns to harm the Predators in the Predator film series, it is often portrayed as a difficult and challenging task due to the Predators' advanced technology and abilities. Disney’s Predator is for Anti Predator Lore that is fact.

D+ needs a little more like this if they want to compete w HBO for people who don't have kids. No idea if this will be good. I loved Prometheus and Covenant while many hated them so I guess my taste isn't the norm. Haven't liked anything w predator since the original two but this has my interest to check it out.

Arnold Schwarzenegger as Major Alan Schaeffer literally was a beast in the original movie, besides that he had experience and a HUGE gun arsenal and really well trained soldiers by him... and even with all of that he almost got killed by the Predator. And now Disney wants to convince me that a little girl that almost died by a bear can kill him? Hell no! Thanks, I'll pass it!
