1/21/2002. A contestant in March 1986 won a Corvette by getting all five numbers in order from left to right all guessed correctly, did not get a strike, and had a perfect bid on their one-bid. That was back when there were three strikes in the bag.
This was back when they had 3 red strikes chips in the bag, but it was too difficult, so they changed the rules a bit to only 1 red strike chip. After 10 to 15 years, they changed the rules once again back to the 3 strike chips during the Drew Carey era until the game was updated with a decent look and replaced with 3 strike balls instead of chips.
@Zach Horan(opener): I saw a similar feat accomplished in 1989... on the *Sábado Gigante* show with Don Francisco. This college professor named Tony Grant got into the round of bonus-game hopefuls by performing greatly on the slam-dunks, as he was a basketball player before joining the halls of acadème. Towards the end, his bid of $2050 was the closest to the actual price of $2110 for a furniture set. And then... the "3 Strikes" game. In this case, he had to get all the letter discs to make the word *GIGANTE.* There were the thre strike discs, and three "Sábado Gigante"-marked discs which were kinda like "joker" cards to fill in whatever letter he wished. Long to short... he got all the letters of *GIGANTE,* all in order, left to right, and no strikes at all. His reward... IIRC, it was a 1989 Mercury Topaz.
If this was done on the Million Dollar Spectacular on the Carey era at all, I’d say there’d be a million dollar winner on that game in addition to the car as well.
The last time before this that the game was won without a strike was Bob's first day with gray hair...granted that car only had four numbers in its price, but they were putting all three strikes in the bag back then.
Highly unlikely to ever happen again since they put 3 strikes in the bag now and the show started that way as well before they changed it to one in this case.
Well, he was 85 years old at the time and had been doing game-shows for over 50 years. I think his retirement was well-earned and due even though he could probably still do it from a wheelchair at age 98. He's that good.
Congratulations ... you just committed to driving a giant sofa around for the next 10 years. I had a car like this. Just sucked petrol and had to fill it every 4 days! My Toyota will go almost the entire month on one tank.
In all honesty I really wish right now they would continue to put only 1 strike in the bag instead of 3 strikes in the bag for as long as you don’t draw that strike 3 times. Because it increases the odds of winning the game. They refurbished it using balls instead of chips so they should use only 1 strike ball instead of 3 strikes balls.
I've seen the opposite happen in this game. The contestant didn't get any numbers lit up, only pulled out a number once or twice. Bob said, what you just saw is as bad as it can get.
Nothing like a perfect win on TPIR. Still not as good as Heather's win in 86. Talk about LUCKY! I think Zach Horan described it best, so I won't repeat myself. These wins give me life :D

I remember that episode very well she played it like a true boss and believe me she lit up all the numbers before she got the three strikes and they said it hadn't happened in 30 years well you know what that was 2002 I don't think that's ever happened ever since 2002 so I guess there's another Street that's about to be due
