This was absolutely spot on and helped tremendously. Ended up being the spring for me. Perfect how-to video. Side note: thanks x1,000 for not starting with some side story or intro.
This comment is also spot on. Nothing worse than a long drawn out DIY video telling me life stories, and to like and subscribe. Mf’er, I will not like and subscribe because you tell me to. Thanks for getting straight to the point.
THREE YEARS THIS HAS BEEN A THORN IN MY SIDE. I could not figure out how to get the thing apart. The ring on the backend and the buttons popping straight off were the secrets to the universe! Thank you so much!
You Sir, are awesome. This fixed my problem and was almost exactly as you described. I hate how in some instructional videos they take forever to get to the point, and they start introducing people and talking about other things. I like how you got right to the point and dove right into it. The only difference I had in mine was when removing the push valve inside it wasn’t a square nut on it. It was a plastic white nut that you only turned about 2 cm and then pulled forward.
Thanks for a great video that saved my weekend! This was on my task list when my wife was out of town for the weekend, and we were fed up with the sprayer mode splashing water everywhere. I followed your steps, and they helped me get mine apart. The buttons on mine were a little different, and the little cartridge cylinder was a little trickier to remove and access the spring, but I never would have made it that far without your clear and detailed video!
Thanks my sprayer came unscrewed and was squirting out the back. I watched the first few minutes of your video and realized I could fix it by screwing it back on. Now it works!
Great video! BTW, even after disassembling, cleaning and reassembling my Pfister Canton pull down faucet, I had the same issue after only a day or two. I contacted Pfister Support and was sent a new sprayer nozzle. The replacement nozzle also stuck (bottom button only) after just a little while. I took the old one apart again, stretched the spring more then applied a little bit of silicon grease to the button shaft. After reassembly, the faucet now works like brand new! Give this a try if you still have the issue. Home Depot sells the grease.
Thanks so much for posting this video! If it wasn't for you I wouldn't have noticed those nearly invisible flats on the chrome ring. Solved my issues from there. Thanks again!
Thanks for the great video. I just did the repair on the Faucet spray head in my house. I was surprised at how light the spring was that controls the sprayer operation when I moved the metal shaft through the white plastic body (duplicating the action that the spring is required to perform. I did not stretch the spring very much at all. Instead I wiped off the shaft where it would ride through the plastic with a paper towel and checked the amount of drag again. The shaft moved a bit easier, but still seemed like a lot of drag. I then put some silicon pool and spa lube on the shaft and in the white plastic hole. When I tested the drag again, the shaft slid so much easier within the plastic hole that I suspect the problem may be more about the shaft and plastic losing factory lubrication than the spring strength waning. I reassembled everything and it worked fine. Time will tell if the silicon lube will last long enough to be a lasting fix.
Dude, you just saved me over $130, and that's just for the spray head. Would've been north of $200 to replace the entire kitchen faucet. Pulling that plunger valve out and lubing it and all o-rings with silicone grease solved the problem. Cannot thank you enough!
I knew that head must come apart somehow! After marching around 4 box stores looking for a replacement head I ended up coming home with my broken one!😑. I found your video and gave it a try! It worked! Thank you so much!!!! Now I can put away the slug hammer, cutting torch, chisel I was about to use on it! 😎👍👍👍👍
Thanks! Our new faucet was stuck on spray and wouldn’t go back to stream. I got it fixed thanks to this video. The buttons were harder to pop off than I was expecting, but they eventually came off.
Thanks for posting this video -- I was about to take a sledgehammer to this freeking faucet before I found your video. One critically important thing I'd add: don't use a wrench when reattaching the head back to the hose, i.e., hand tighten only. I realized that tightening with a wrench causes the internal housing to spin within the chrome external housing. This causes the gray buttons to press against the external housing -- impeding the buttons' movement and causing them to "stick." (which, I think, is a design flaw and the root cause of the problem -- not the springs)
You are the man!!!! You solved a longstanding frustration. Thought I had a low water pressure problem. Stretching the spring did the trick. Excellent pace of narration and easy to see/follow video. I wish other DIY posters would follow your example.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! 🙏 You are a major lifesaver! I fixed my sink faucet today after a year of dealing with it on spray mode and not having the time or energy to figure it out! 🤣 This video was super helpful. I’m glad I stumbled across it.
I just wanted to pop in and say thank you. I needed to do this and was too chicken to try. Thanks to your video I was brave enough to give it a go. My faucet is working perfectly again. Side note, I used a non marring tool to remove the buttons. Didn't want to scratch it.
This video is 5 years old, and just helped me immensly! Thank you for this! Hopefully the spring stretch fix lasts, but easy enough to replace the spring if it comes back
Worked perfect! I couldn’t find a replacement head anywhere with the correct thread size. Was about to buy an all new faucet. Saved me $150!! Thanks!!!
Gratitude goes a long way! THANK YOU! I cant beleive I typed in my model number and bam... your video came up! I wasnt sure how to open the spray head safely without risk of snapping the parts. This faucet is discontnued and you cant get replacement. I stretched the spring... DONE!!! Thank YOU!!!
This was awesome. One of our buttons was sticking causing an annoying whining sound when we ran the water. I didn't realize you could pull the assembly apart like this. Very helpful video! A little pull on the spring and some lube, and problem fixed.
I had a leaky Pfister faucet. I was wanting to call Pfister for support but because of the coronavirus Pfister had laid off their phone support and were taking their sweet time answering my email, SO, I found your awesome video on RU-vid and was able to fix my problem with your help. Thanks, DIY chickjn (whatever that means :)!!!
I just opened the bottom filter which was quite dirty, stretched the spring a bit, put it back and it works great again. HooHoo! I thought I was going to need to replace it. Thanks for taking the time to make and put up this video. :)
Thank you so much. Been dealing with this for a while. Never thought about pulling the buttons off. Once I saw that I was able to get the valves out and clean everything. It's working like new!
Great video. I have a Luxart faucet and the internal parts are practically mirrored. Fixed my faucet in about ten minutes. Thanks for saving me time and money on ordering a replacement head!
Perfect video. Thank you. I’m not reading through comments, but if anyone has issues with the top button like I did, the white plastic has tabs on each side that just pop off instead of having to unscrew. Then it’s the same concept with the spring.
Super helpful, Thanks! Not sure why my faucet switches suddenly stopped working - but taking everything apart, stretching the spring and putting everything back together seems to have done the trick. Guess we'll see how long it lasts.
This video was perfect for my American Standard faucet. This took all of 3 minutes to get my water pressure back to normal. Taking the head off by hand and cleaning that aerator/screen worked
Great video, however it didn’t stop my leak. After I cleaned mine up and reassembled it still leaked out the top. I took the nozzle off and used an Allen wrench to tighten the plastic piece around the ball. It was very loose and stopped the leak. I wouldn’t have got that far without your video. Thanks.
Thanks for the video i had a similar problem with the faucet ,the stream wasn't working i did exactly as per your video, and now both the stream and spray both are working Thanks
Thank you, Phjister has lifetime warranty on their parts. Now with your video I don’t have to call a plumber. They are sending a new wand and I as a female can install it myself.
This was exactly what I needed. I've been frustrated with this new faucet for months and had just accepted that it's a piece of crap. Stretching the spring out was an easy fix though. Thanks!
Turns out I’m still having the same problems with mine. The spring is just way too weak for the job. Now I’m on the hunt for a spring that is not a piece of $h!t.
In videos when you say “dont do that” think how many people are watching this video because that already happened…that’s the only reason your video popped up and I’m watching your video.
Thank you! I fixed it! I didn't have the right size wrench to remove the aerator screen, but didn't think that would be the problem. I stretched the spring but that still didn't fix it. I noticed the metal part that goes inside the spring was very rusty, I removed as much rust as possible with screwdriver, and that did it!
Thx for the great vid. Doing per your info has fixed the issue so far. One thing I noticed while doing was that the buttons didn't seem to be centered left-right and the slight contact might have exacerbated the issue. As I was reassembling I realized that there is some L-R movement and the normal screwing back together of the bottom ring cheats the insides (and buttons) towards one side resulting in some contact again. So I redid, making sure to keep the buttons centered as I tightened the bottom ring. Now they move much more freely. I did contact support (prior to finding your vid) and they quickly sent a replacement head (received after using your vid) and the buttons are similarly non-centered and slightly rubbing. Should I ever need to switch to the replacement head guessing I'll have to do a similar recentering. Anyway, thx for the detailed info and I hope my centering tip helps someone else achieve enhanced success.
There are two models for this faucet and my model number is a Canton F-529-7CNY. The faucet was purchased in 2017 from Home Depot and as opposed to the faucet shown in the video the valves DO NOT screw off, rather there are two tabs holding the valve cover down. All you need to do is rotate the cover 1/8th turn and the valve will release and you can spread the spring in the same manner as shown in the video. I had a problem getting the whole valve assembly to release from its cover. Be patient and press down on the valve and it will pass through the center plastic bridge. Getting the assembly back was more challenging and, ultimately, I shaved a little plastic off the bridge. It works just fine for the time being. You should know that Pfister's lifetime warranty will get you a FREE REPLACEMENT!
This fix works for Pfister Mystique also. Thanks for the video, the faucet now releases from spray mode...my tap is not even a year old. Slightly disappointed, aside from that, it seems like a decent kitchen faucet.
Thank you so much! I was able to fix almost all of my "stuck" issues. Mine also sticks at the on/off switch. do you know how to open that? i removed the white plastic shield over it and it is just a post that does not appear to come out...
I too must say thanks for saving me time, aggravation and money! It seemed too simple to work and I was doubtful right up until the very end that it would work. I am happy to say that I was wrong, yet again.
I’ve cleaned the screens, both, and I still have hardly any pressure. There’s a ton of pressure without the head and when we first moved in (brand new building we are first tenants in this unit) there was perfect pressure. This place has turned into a nightmare and maintenance tried to tell me they didn’t have an aerator removal tool and can’t fix it. So, I figured out how to clean the aerators but, as I said, it’s not helped. In my internet research on this faucet it seems this (no pressure) and the sprayer buttons sticking are a big problem with this faucet. I’m ready to contact to manufacture to see if they will send me a new head.
Thanks a lot man, your video helped a lot especially about the buttons and the ring in the front. I took the other button out too and cleaned it out. Thanks again
Thank you so much for this info. It is a damned sham the customer-no-service department couldn't help. But I do have a "case number"., since 11/5/18! Thanks to you, I have it fixed on "New Years" day!!
Thanks so much, I couldn't figure out how to remove the end of the wand...was looking into replacing it. But $100!!! A 4 minute video and 5 minute cleaning and I saved money, special tool, what a joke. Thanks for nothing Moen!
Stretching the spring did not work. I found that the shaft of the button was giving too much resistance for the spring. I lubricated the two associated O-rings on the button shaft with petroleum jelly. That worked. The disassembly instructions were enabling!
Great video! I'm just unable to figure out how you remove/unscrew that plasic ring to remove the housing to get to the springs. Trier the small screwdriver, but no luck, just scratching the heck out of myself and the finish of the head. Hoping to hear back from anyone.
