Client really doesn't care how you're going to do it on a job like this. They just want it done. Find out what's required and do the job. Ask any questions in an email

Delroy …. Some important notes for you …. Doing industrial always do a new circuit for other areas .. warehouse has its own and bottom floor office there own and 1st floor offices has there own and there is a very important reason why …. Doing existing ring extensions can give the owners a big problem in the offices Remember he mentioned computers….. you don’t want something in warehouse tripping everything including computers in the office which do orders / accounts/ and also take there network down. …. Also no sign of any emergency lights shown in your video which is in the regs for industrial (you must that opportunity) there can’t trade without. Also most IT companies want computer feed on there own power supply
@richierich8334
@richierich8334 Месяц назад
Most computers within an environment like this have power backups for a set amount of time to stop that very problem.

@@richierich8334 ups supplies are not a fix for that problem …. While pricing a job for industrial factories you need to take into account what is on that circuit and what can be plugged in at some later stage ….. we have a simple design method …. Clean or dirty power circuit Officer areas are always clean circuits factory floors I class as dirty supply……. Ft charger ….. sockets on walls were machines can be plugged in and also at any point in time a maintenance team might run a welding machine….. there is no point extending an office ring to go into a factory area also remember it’s industrial so extended ring is still only on a 32amp so a problem created but an electrician……. The 3phase consumer board is only a few feet away so no need to tap into a ring …. Also if at another date and work is done in offices why create a problem when you isolate the office power the factory goes down as well

Client needs to give you more definitive information on what they want & where. Otherwise they’ll chop & change their minds during the job & expect you to do the extras at the original quote price. He’s got a floor plan done already, just get them to give you a copy of the floor plan with the socket locations marked.

Not sure id trust Delroy to change a faceplate if he turned up at my place. Videos are painful, yet i still watch 😂 Client needs to spec the project properly tho, He was as useful as a chocolate teapot.

He generally knows what he’s doing, he just thinks out loud a lot, which is good for us I guess but probably doesn’t fill the client with confidence.

6in or even 8in tray on angel bracket that would give the clearance over the down pipes. You also need to know what the property will be used for and if the loading work out ect.

Agree with others saying why not just run a new ring when theres a huge amount of spare ways on the nearby junction box to run a new one. Also I imagine if they ever end the lease then they'd have to put the office rings back to how they were before handing the warehouse back, so doing it your way is just causing another job in the future including an electrician first working out how and why you did something to then be able to undo it. By putting in a new circuit it's quick and easy to remove it just like the last people did when they moved out.

I bet the client had a nip of whiskey after that visit. He doesn't need a detailed breakdown of how you will do the job, just get in take your measurements and email a quote.

Trunking - Mmmm..... Del's favourite! Those cables above the ceiling - cable ties are no good Del. Major fire risk.

It was neatly done they were plastic should have been metal. It's better than some installation I have seen where the cables are just laid across the tiles.

I'd leave the office on its own ring. Run box trunking for the main room. fork lift on its own supply. Not go into technical detail too much with the customer as it generally just baffles them unnecessarily. Look forward to part 2 of this .!

Yeah going into technical details is too much for the customer. unfortunately I do it all the time thinking out loud. When Marlon is with me he just look up thinking here we go again. 😅

i would probably run around the top on the wall in cable trays and then just feed down as and when they need to expand.

That guy doesn't have a clue what he wants or needs. He should be getting an electrical engineer in to spec what's needed for whatever it is they are gonna be requiring and then getting del or another contractor to do the installation off the back of this.... Or they do the spec and the install as a complete job. Guy is trying to project manage something he hasn't got a clue about.
@eastwayelectrical
@eastwayelectrical Месяц назад
Your are being a bit harsh on the guy. He only wanted a few points installed therefor meeting with an electrician is acceptable. If there was a lot more items/circuits required I would have suggested he spoke to an electrical engineer like you advised.

Box trunking down the long wall for all the sockets, which future proofs for additional. Run separate feed for forklift supply - potentially spec’ed for 2 to future proof. As others said - customer is baffled by all the questions, just be matter of fact. Potentially find out what their budget is, and encourage them to think about the next 2-3 years if they have any idea of expanding. I think they’d rather pay for you to be matter of fact and spec it for them based on your experience. Don’t go extending existing circuits in the office for a ‘quick job’ - will only cause problems later if they have to leave. Good luck… the customer wasn’t exactly the most clued up.

Definitely run a dedicated circuit for IT comms, if they have a lot of equipment it could draw a lot of power and you dont want that to cause warehouse power issues and vice-versa. If they have their own IT dont run ethernet for them unless you know what standards they expect

The guy only wants few sockets in warehouse area and del wants spend a week putting trunking round the entire building. Just put a 4mm swa in so he can add sockets in future if needed, any supplies needed bigger than that canbe there own supply. The db has containment going up already and the building is empty... couldn't get any easier
