If you want to talk about impressive animation, look at the snakes in River of Snakes(animating anything with stripes or patterns consistently is extremely tricky) or the raptor chase in Terror under the Blood Moon(multiple characters moving at once).
Damn. I just love how tough Fang is. She got knocked out for a sec, got back up and charged Krog almost immediately. Then she takes a beating and still survives!
The detail at 2:53 is insane her scream isn’t loud anymore cause of her crushed lungs and the blood coming out, this is such a great and emotional show
As soon as I heard her cry going from a roar to a wail… my heart stopped… but seeing her cough up the blood just crushed me as much as it did to see spear watching it all.
What I find very interesting here is that despite being very clearly apes (and thus, less evolved in our real world evolutionary timeline), they seem more "advanced" in a way than Spear or the more human-like hominidis we see in the demon-bats episode. They are capable of simple forms of architecture, clothemaking, and chemistry/magic; they also have the capacity for more complex forms of social organization, seeing as how there is a shaman/leader of a sort and ritualistic behaviour; more importantly tho, that they are able to organize this little society across different species of apes. This show takes a not-often-seen approach, to have homo sapiens *not* be the pinnacle of intelectual achievement. It removes the *one* thing meant to always put us above the rest of the animal kingdom, making this world and the implications of it much, much scarier and fascinating. I hope we get many, many more seasons to keep exploring this world and lore.
Spear is not a Homo sapien, though. He's a Neanderthal. Though, this comment was made 10 months ago and I'm don't believe the second half of season 1 came out yet.
Rewatching this cutscene again. I just noticed that the steroid juice that mutated the gigantopithecus (gorilla man) resembles the black blood of the Night Feeder. But that is just me.
As an art/animation nerd, I absolutely love when the camera spins around Fang after that first hit. Really makes you feel the disorienting force of the blow!
@@deviljho4260 I think Cinematography is the right word. The camera is only implied in animation but the placement and angles of shots is very important and I at least could call that cinematography.:
I want this show to come back… see how spear and fang deal with new threats… short faced bear, terminator pigs, terror birds, Spinosaurus, other Trexes, stegosaurs, triceratops, giant scorpion, primitive humanoids, cults, diseases, a lot of options.
So the night feeder drank liquid like this? So that's the only time we see a dinosaur and not an ape drink this enhancement liquid, maybe we will see more of this in the Scorpion king season
Doubt it, even when Spear drank the whole bowl it only lasted a night, the Night Feeder had it for days. So it was probably just born with its abilities.
@@nerd2179 I guess that's possible? But it seems like they have a completely different powerset, black goo gives growth and super strength, night feeder has super speed, sharp claws, and stealth. So it seems like a stretch.
@@saucevc8353 it requires alot strength to chop down really big trees in one slice even with those claws also, it's kinda big. So what if it drank the goo and made it's blood the goo so it just drinks it's goo blood whenever the goo runs out and when it runs out of goo blood it finds more goo to drink so he can restore more goo blood?
Brah m I the only one who just straight up loves the verity of anemies in this series like you never know what they are going too face the next episode
I think the audio cuts out the roars and leaves it with just the music, to let the dread of the moment sink in since by now both Spear and the viewer are aware that Fang's in serious trouble
Rewatching here again to make a comparison of Fang's fight between Krog and Kamau, Krog defeated Fang with ease because the black serum which helped him to mutate and grow stronger, Kamau manages to subdue Fang with just his brute strength
@Моби Дик Oh god, I forgot those two exists, not sure about Kamau's durability when it comes to the Night Feeder after seeing that it can slice off limbs quickly like the triceratops
My theory is that primal is set in an alternate timeline of our world without the cretaceous extinction event, resulting in dinosaurs and mammals to evolve alongside each other. Fang's species is simply descended from T-rex
I’m kinda tired of seeing Spear rescue Fang all the time. Would love to see her get some more respect in Season 2. She may not be the biggest of her kind, but she’s still a friggin’ T. rex.
@@chrisea7546 confirmed by the director Genndy Tartakovsky to be a t rex, she also fluctuates in size depending on the scene and intimidation value, she goes from being massive with teeth as large as a humans leg to being a third of the size of a mammoth, size should never be taken too seriously in this show as it uses size differences for intimidation and to show who is dominating a fight
Imagine if fang drank some of that black goo. Becomes a beefed up rex and fucks up all the monkes instead of spear. Would've been so satisfying to watch her rip this guy apart after he almost kills her
