Primal: The Most Brutal Scene in the Show 

Even though he and fang needed food spear took no pleasure in taking a life. And that's why one of my reasons I like his character so much.

This show has more powerful emotion than most shows I've seen

Even though they had to kill to eat, Spear takes no pleasure in killing. He only does what he must for himself and Fang.

Fang's just like "What's wrong? We got our breakfast, didn't we?"

The mammoth has been through a lot of shit. You can just see it

The Ape Genocide in Ep. 5 was the most brutal scene. This was one of the most realistic. In nature some have to die in order to let others live, even if it is shocking and sad.

Ok but the art in this show is incredible. Everything about it is just so interesting to look at

I feel bad for the mammoth, but in a way, Fang and Spear gave the mammoth an honorable death. Instead of laying down and succumbing to disease and loneliness as it looked like a male well past his prime, they gave him one last rodeo, one last big fight, so the mammoth died a warrior. Its almost beautiful in a sense.

Spear shows compassion to the huge lumbering peaceful animals. Such as the Brachiosaurus’s later on in the show. He understands the difference from killing raptors who are attacking him, and killing an animal for food/survival. He isn’t blood thirsty. He just has a high body count in the show because he is constantly attacked and defends himself. And obviously he cared about Fang and her babies.

It isn’t the most brutal, but it really does show what all the creatures in the show that have suffered brutal deaths feel

This is actually the saddest fight not brutal

Like if you think the boy Spear teaches to hunt is actually spear himself as a boy. His father in the scene when he hunts that deer thing, if you notice, Spear and his dad attacked in that exact same manner. Spear looks into his preys eyes here, just as he was taught to as a boy. He was taught respect for the kill.

I thought it was weird how mad the other mammoths were considering they abandoned him.

The ending to this animation is beautiful. The man shows empathy towards the mammoth, despite just brutally beating it to death. This is the nature of survival. We are so out of touch with this in our civilized culture here in America in 2023, but this is the reality of what our ancestors necessarily had to go through. There is nothing evil about it, they are just in an environment in which they need to grapple with pure, raw survival.

when i watched Primal for the first time, this scene it me very sad because imagine, you are mamooth that has gone through some real shit, you have just one horn as your only weapon, and then this ape comes and stabs you without mercy and then a fucking t rex comes out and starts attacking you, you try to fight but the ape grabs a rock, gets on your horn and starts punching your eye with the rock. after some fight, you lay down, vulnerable, then the ape approaches and gives you one last hit with that rock, you start bleeding out your trunk while you are at your last moments and you see everything blurry, but you can see the ape showing you respecyt before you past to the afterlife. you close your eyes and then you see a light...

I feel like Spears humanity gets underrated sometimes in this show, he's such an expressive, realized character, the show goes out of its way to show how much is going on behind his eyes even without saying anything.

2:25 I love that Spear has a deep sense of love and respect for the animals he hunts. He kills because it is necessary, and even when it isn't, the violence is still difficult for him.

I love how brutal Spear can be but when the dust settles, it's justified. He _had_ to do it for his and Fang's survival and he shows remorse for doing so.

It's important to remember that Spear and Fang are not heroes but protagonists. The story focuses on them and in the context of it, they're just two animals fighting to survive among other animals trying to do the same thing.

I just love that Fang just charged up and did a leaping tackle on the mammoth to kill it. Like she body checked it like she was in the NFL.

This very brutal scene reminds me of Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge (2020).

Best animation series I ever seen - by far! Get past the first two episodes, where we're building univeres, background story, charators, etc. - and, then it is just mindblowing from that point and forward - ench epiode being more nail-biting than the previoys - I just can't wait to see what happung with Mira in season 2?!

Tough scene to watch. But survival is survival. However, empathy is human nature.

Watching the mammoth hesitate to slide down that slope killed me. It's the equivalent of an old man, or woman being scared to fall.

Definitely brutal, not the most brutal. Kinda sad, but it all comes down to survival. If spear and fang had food they wouldn’t bother killing the mammoth. As you can tell he feels a little bad after killing the poor sick individual. He definitely isn’t a blood thirsty maniac.I think the most brutal episode in season one is the rage of the ape men.
