Thanks for watching. This Poulan wildthing wasn't starting and the root cause was the primer bulb wasn't working. On further inspection it turns out to be much worse. It needed new fuel lines and carb work. Please check out my other videos and consider subscribing. Thank you.

Thank you for this awesome easy to follow video! My dad had this exact chainsaw that had been sitting a while and he wasn't sure why it wasn't running, nor did he really have much need for it anymore. I took it and ordered the tune up kit, but your video helped walk me through everything to tear it down and rebuild it. Runs like a top now, thanks again!

This is without a doubt one of the best videos I have seen dealing with fuel line replacement on a Poulan chainsaw. And the reason I am here just happens to be that I have this exact chainsaw out in my garage and I will now go out and fix it! I have also "subscribed" and will now catch all your repair tips! Many Thanks!

This is great. That is my chainsaw! I love that little saw but it has been unused for years so I'm sure I will have to do everything you showed in the video. Thanks for doing this. The lawn mower shop in my town is awful. Every time I walk in with a tool, they say without even having a look at it. "Oh I can tell you right now your going to need new gas lines a new carburetor and who knows what else. You might as well just buy a new one. I have several to choose from" I dropped off my chainsaw and they called me the next day and told me the same thing and "why don't you buy a real chainsaw. I have these stihl saws over here" I left with my saw and upon inspecting it could tell by the dirt on the housing that he had never taken it apart.

This video is perfect! Tutorial worked perfectly in my case on a Poulan Wild Thing that hadn’t ran in 10yrs, crumbling lines and mine took two reset turns on the high and low. I had to turn idle screw 1.5 turn clockwise to idle a proper speed so that it’d not die easily. After bout 7 seconds it will die but will stay running if I rev up a lil with trigger throttle as to keep it from dying.

@Hank Bridges HuH? I just had to replace the fuel lines and in tank filter, not rebuild my entire chain saw. I didnt mess with any setting on the carb and I rebuilt that over a year ago so no need to mess with it at all and there is zero reason to replace the clutch, it works just fine. This isnt my first go around with a small engine or a chainsaw. I have just never replaced the fuel lines on this particular model before so I looked it up and here I am. LoL

Good job, on the repair and video. I think your process works on about 20 other models of Poulan saws, slight differences in carb, fuel line sizes, etc.Drain the tank and run the carb empty is a good idea, use fuel stabilizer is another, use ethanol-free fuel is another and precludes water being absorbed into fuel and fuel lines don't harden/crack. A good video on mixture screw adjustment would be nice, if you can find time. Keep it up, good advice seems hard to find on RU-vid anymore.

I do not like the modern Poulans period ...But I do feel your entitled to positive recognition on a video that was very well made ...So great Job on a very nicely made video . I may not like Poulans because of the throw away quality as repairs are often not a feasible option but the effort displayed in this video was evident and informative . These cheaply made saws in my opinion are a true curse upon the service techs and dealers that are obligated to contend with them as the failure points are almost to numerous to try to list. But as I said previously a great video is a great video and you sir made a excellent video .

Very helpful video, BUT, you didn't explain why the fuel lines and diaphragm go bad. The OEM parts can't handle ethanol. It eventually wrecks them, it also tends to swell the gas cap. If your gas cap won't turn out or screw back in, letting the cap "dry out" for a few days returns it to its original size. Do not run ethanol through these saws.

Well done explanation & video. I'm just wondering if WD-40 is really a rubber rejuvenator, though. If you've been doing that with results, ok then.' AT 205' IS A RUBBER SEAL RESTORER & REJUVENATOR, used in auto trans & power steering SEALS. Put in a spray bottle, has lots of uses for restoring anything rubber. For long life and best results use tygon fuel line .080" and 3/32" for the saws that use two sizes and just the 3/32" for one like this one here. You can find it in the repair section at farm&fleet or hardware stores. Maxpower brand has it in 2' and 10' lengths, it is the real stuff made by Saint-Gobain, be careful when buying online as it may be a fake copy and not the same quality. The 10' part numbers are #334181LP for .080" ID x .140" OD and #334180LP for 3/32" ID x 3/16" OD, if you're doing one saw then get the 2' versions as you'll probably use about half of that. Also use a Oregon (made in USA) or walbro OEM carb kit, they are a better product than the others. Just add the proper amount of Seafoam to your premixed non-ethanol rec gas, this will help prevent issues in the future. Make sure to start and warm up your engine a few times a year if you're not using it. The cheap stuff may work or not but will definitely not last as long.

I second your comment small engine shop as I have been obligated to repair many over the years . Thank god my boss came to the conclusion he did . These saws are complete junk dare I even say shit straight from the box .Often in very short order or time the customer will experience troubles witch leaves many with buyers remorse . I have seen just about any if not every problem that plagues these curses . Carbs that have there check valves swell , leaking seals, striped oilers, starter recoil assembly failures ,fuel line deterioration , swollen gas caps that are hell to remove , Bonded fuel cap tank vents that swell then actually bond due to modern gasolines affects on vital viton or neoprene . These saws are so cheaply made that even premixed fuels in cans don't even eliminate these issues . Truly sad that Husqvarna as a parent company continues to push theses pieces of shit and sale them under different brands as well as colors ….What really pisses me off is there cop out mentality when approached with a warranty issue . I have seen on many Poulans that the piston ring locater pin has came loose and scored the cylinder as well as chipped out a small piece of alum from pistons top . And when pics are provided to these crooked bastards they still insist it isn't a warranty . It got so bad at one point we had 3 Poulans with broken crankshafts {clutch side } that had actually broken off …...Yes your reading this correctly …..Broken off and had to provide pictures of each …...Be mindful this wasn't the issue but believe it or not they didn't wont to give warranty relief on one because the clutch sprocket appeared to have been warm …..{WTF …..Seriously was my bosses reply to Poulan / Husqvarna} And ever since we have been Poulan free of issues ….. Trust me Poulan / Husqvarna are the most greedy evil S.O.Bs We every had the displeasure of dealing with ...I should keep this about Poulan but to even further provide insight on Husqvarna …..They push obligated sales …….Whats obligated sales you might ask ? Let me explain … We had Redmax , and Jonsered as lines in our shops …..We purchased many saws and trimmers of each to sale in shop but guess what Husqvarna did to obligate sales on there dealers …..They would periodically change sales reps and item inventory amounts that were expected in house or shop to hold a desired brand . I truly hate Husqvarna as a company for there actions as sales are all they concern there selves with .Even forcing by obligation higher amounts of there item inventory to carry certain brands sold by them as a parent company .

what's the slimy stuff on the fuel line ends?🤔 so press primer bulb...18? times.
@HomeGaragechannel
@HomeGaragechannel 2 года назад
the slimy stuff should be old 2 stroke oil mixed with some gasoline. You can prime it as many time as you want, it will only move Fuel from the tank to the carb and right back to the tank.

Great video very well done , those poulan wild thing saws got a bad rap by people that just assumed because of the paint color ,scheme they were all a gimmick to sell the saw , but actually they are great little saws for the money and if you take care of them they work fine ! Quick question have you ever seen the poulan 50 th anniversary saw that came out years ago ? It had 50th anniversary on the bar

@HomeGaragechannel
@HomeGaragechannel 2 года назад
will it stop if you're just letting idle or only when you're cutting? if it when it's cutting, have you confirmed that the bar is getting oil? if it's not getting enough oil, the bar and chain could get too hot and lock up.
