Learn to build a primitive bow with Clay Hayes. This video will show you how to remove the bark to prepare the back for this hickory self bow. Once the bark is removed, Clay will lay out the bow design in preparation for roughing out the bow.
This technique will work for most whitewood bows, from hard maple and ash to oak, hickory, hornbeam, etc. All you need to do is remove the bark and cambium to reveal the wood beneath.
Future bow building videos in this series will be uploaded to www.patreon.com/clayhayes
There, we'll cover other primitive wood bow designs, recurve bows, longbows, two piece take down bows, arrows, bow strings and much much more.
Learning traditional archery and bow hunting can be a valuable skill set to add to your bushcraft, survival or self reliance knowledge.
