Bob's surgery is scheduled for the 26th of April where he will hopefully regain a great deal of sight in his left eye. The right eye is still unresponsive, unfortunately. Thought we'd try to make a different type of video this time, please tell us what you think about it. Still healing on this end. We'll try and make a few more videos before the surgery, doing the best we can. Thank you all once again and we'll keep you posted. ~Shauna

Glad to hear the outcome is optimistic! Good luck with surgery. I really enjoy your videos because they show the work behind the scenes. Most of the time, you see three seconds of making a rope followed by them pulling up four fish. Your videos are always more realistic, however I have no idea how you twisted so much cordage.

It's great to see you out again and active with your hands. I sort of thought you might have another story to tell; I'm sure some weird things happened on those horseback gigs you used to go out on. good video! I have to say, given his eye condition, it made me nervous just a bit to see in "in" the yucca plant, and then tugging and wrestling with that tree limb... I was glad when that part was over. ☺

Bob Hansler I'm still praying I hope it goes good ide love to hear his sights back atleast 75 percent if not 100. but great video cool net it's wild how you can use nature not make things. so thanks for showing me how to make it. I use to watch a old man make hoop nets back when I was 10 to 12 new him before that but didn't really watch what he did till 10 and got to go out in his jon boat to run his nets for the fish and some big turtles Robert was a great man. I watched my first skinning of a possum and almost got my finger cut off helping him hold the legs I think I was 12 then. but he felt so bad he sent lots of fish home with us lol. his wife and I had the same birthday July 30 we celebrated it many times together. but Mr Robert finally passed he went crazy kinda. but he went blind but wouldn't stop running his nets by the time he had to stay home due to doing some weird things like walking around nude and saying weird things yelling but he couldn't help it. something happen to him he just turned into someone else. he didn't tell at any one he would just be like he was watching TV had the volume up high being he couldn't see then just scream a word not make sense. but his fingers he lost 2 on one hand 3 on the other from turtles being he didn't no what he was getting from his nets how he made it to the river I'll never now. but I think from fingers getting bite off he got a infection that's why he went crazy. but I miss him. shur would have loved nowing him when I was older. but we moved at 13 i come back at 18 he had already passed. but I got to celebrate my 20 birthday with his wife one more time I had moved again at 18 and go thru therapy with my pelvis when I moved out of the family home on July 1st at 17 on July 8 fell and did the splits when I fell and busted my pelvis. so went to Louisiana from Alabama seen my family friends ide none from 7. but had bad prob with my leg turning purple pinched a nerve so back to Michigan after I got to see old friends. but left home again at 19 tracked a little working. but got to la on my birthday right as my friends was going to Mrs. days house so I got to surprise her on my 20 and the last year I seen her she passed close after that. but I traveled 10 year got hurt in many states working now disabled back in Louisiana again but only because of dad. but I lost him 2 years ago cancer so praying I get to go back to Alabama. don't like it here anymore friends all changed after all these years don't talk to none. some went bad some just went but I'm a single dad my baby 16 it's been just us since she was 7 months old. so been tuff and being disabled over 10 years now very hard. but either before she grad or after she grad were going back to Alabama were she was born to be with friends and out only family we got left I talk to some nephews and a neice really can't weight to go see there kids for the first time. well don't no why I told you that. but god bless you sir. much love from the Schwab family in Louisiana. keep up the awsome and cool videos. keep us informed how it's all going. and thank you.

bob. my dad in law had a fungal infection in 1 eye. they could operate in time so the other didnt get infected. thats about a year ago. the transplanted cornea failed so he had another operation last week. his eye sight is finaly returning now. just to point out that even after so much time.. you can have 20-20 vision again too!

It's good to see you getting around. Maybe if you ever have trouble coming up with something, possibly a video of how to build a box crawfish trap for deeper water? Like the on the guys on the "Crayster's" channel. Very good catches fishing 5' down to 50'. That would be a nice trap to have.

Thank you for the tutorial on building a hoop net. I know that these types of projects can seem daunting and tedious to beginners, like myself. I appreciate the effort and sharing your skill and technique with us. While watching this it made me think about how traditional hunters/gatherers may have used downtime in the evenings beside a fire and maybe discussing daily events with others. Bob is like MacGyver of the woods! I'd like to hear Bob speak about how to protect yourself against mosquitoes and other pests. I'm one of those who mosquitoes really go after and I get silver dollar sized welts. So I need some sort of protection/repellent and natural antihistamine to take the welt down and reduce the itch. 50-60 mosquito bites in a few days can make anyone sick. Also, what does he think about the Dakota fire hole, rocket stove and Swedish fire torch for cooking? Praying that his surgery went well today. Xoxo for the both of you!

Great video. Natural cordage into a net. Good stuff. We don't have yucca in oregon, but we have a lot of trees with good inner bark. Can the yucca be worked smaller for fishing line? Good luck with your next surgery. Still like your videos.

Truth is I like more talking. Even in the boring parts he could talk about the history of the plant, or what else can be made or some funny story about how my horse started bucking when I backed him into the yucca, or why he's beating the yucca on the log. Hope the surgery went well. Watching for an update. :-)

Must be healing quite well now as he didn't look visually impaired at all. Every bit of string was never felt for head movements before every change in action indicating visual searching instead of feeling around a familiar object..very quickly after losing a lot of sight a person really reduces there head movement when doing a task. I guess keeping the net very close to the face at times helps even if the trademark dark glasses won't.... Ok keep healing as vision is very traumatic to lose....ill keep watching the videos...it's good he keeps doing them still...

I've had both eyes and cataracts removed; detected retinas blood vessels exploded in my right eye and lost some of my preferial vision lost. Doctors can due wonders. I'll pray for your safe recovery. I live in the Arizona desert where wood is very limited. I'm looking for efficient fires to cook on, how big of a fire to make and maybe some alternative fuels that can be found.
