Survival Foraging Foods from the Forest -Fall Harvest- 

Hey Group, It’s been busy here, I’ll hopefully be able to fill you in on all that is happening in a few months. Filming has started back up and we have some awesome survival vids that will be posted soon that you are sure to enjoy. Man......reminds me of back in the 70's when we were kids, me and my friends would walk around eating wild mulberries, peaches, pomegranates, and of course plenty of pecans.

I was fortunate to have a temporary job in Alpine last year - Big Bend was incredible even though the fishing was terrible. I was there February thorough May and wished I could have explored the Davis Mountains more and have taken the wife to BBNP. The Chihuahuan Desert preserve was gorgeous, but the pots of water (small circular ponds that pop out of nowhere) always vexed me. Can we get a video or series about the unique flora and fauna surrounding those pots? The last hike I got to do was the big mountain trail behind the Fort Davis Historic Site. I was with a BP agent and an EMT when the thunder storm from hell popped up! Great story! Sadly, I accidentally deleted the videos!

Its good to see you back again. Hope you get well soon. Your videos on survival are very interesting to me. My wife freaks out when she sees me eating wild berries from our back yard or me eating them tasajillo. Lol!! She thinks im crazy. But all I can tell her is that's it's edible and mother nature will provide when it comes to survival. Be safe out there and I'll be waiting for more interesting videos on survival.

Green briar tips are a fav. Eat most I forage before they make it to the pan.

Great to see you back. Those leaves at 10.00 look like bicycle saddles. Man watching Huck, he has also missed the walks, he is never more than a few feet from you at all times. Dogs are natures angels. Please recall stories of Huckleberry running to your defense while out in the sticks. Would love to hear them.

I used to have wild onions in the yard... i had no idea untill later. Pick those suckers, rinse, slice in half and toss em into the skillet with your steak......damned good eats!!!

You mentioned fermenting the prickly pear fruit. Just got done bottling a batch of prickly pear mead and I will tell you that it was both delicious and a vigorous fermentation additive.

Dude! You got me into eating yucca flowers! Effing delicious! My boss thought I lost my damned mind when we were drilling for a pipine job in west Texas and I started eating yucca flowers during a break! Man I wish they grew where I live!!!

I too am currently suffering a fairly serious illness since August and it's really hampering my ability to make youtube videos. I'm seeing all kinds of docs and having all kinds of tests; I know you can relate. And although I’m just a 20 year old living in the tropical land of Malaysia here in South East Asia, I find your videos so interesting to watch and your personality incredibly approachable as well. I've eaten the balsam gourd before. I probably ate between 20 and 30 of them one day spitting all the seeds out. After I finish eating them about an hour later I got a really bad stomach ache like eating a bunch of green apples and I ended up throwing up for about an hour. I would recommend not eating too many of these even without the seeds. The really ripe ones taste really good and sweet and it's kind of hard to stop eating them.

When I lived in Indiana one of my favorite things as a kid was going out and collecting paw paws, raspberries, and mulberries. Good stuff found around where I grew up.

Oh man that's awesome! It has been so dry here in southern Colorado the Yucca didn't even bloom, the cholla was hit or miss, however pinon, prickly pear fruit/nopales were great!
