Hi guys, I have come back and continue to make the video that I love, in this video I will make a water wheel, the video details the processes, techniques that I make a water wheel, because The amount of work was so much that it took me a long time to make a water wheel, somewhere two month, with everything made by hand so I struggled with the process. Since it took a long time to finish, I divided it into short episodes. This is the tuesday episode following the previous one that I posted.
I hope you always support me, help me share with my friends to watch, I need you to help promote, share, comment, so that the video can have a lot of views. thank you!

your woodworking skills are wonderful ..design and engineering are a bit off on this project though .thats a lot of friction on your axle and i suspect more than water will be needed for lubrication wax might be a good one here. and with the 5-6 foot diameter wheel and that flow you wont have much power ..its never too late to make a bigger wheel but in this style it would be extremely heavy so back to the river and start digging a channel..head race with a spillway and flume point is more volume more power more drop in height..head.. more power...on the wheel end larger the diameter or volume of its buckets more power until the size of the bucket exceeds the volume of water needed to rotate it ..i wouldnt run the water into bamboo until the end or would use larger bamboo or multiple supply lines..you will need more water to make that wheel useful ..and now to spoil your day you have an over shot wheel which is about 10 % more efficient than an undershot but both are inefficient especially when compared with a turbine ..with your water coming in the top and spinning around the side and exiting out the side moving a vertical mounted shaft and propellers..they run up to about 40 % efficient i think the others are around 15 % ... it will be interesting to see how you transmit your power line shaft overhead seems most practical to me and what you can and will power forge bellows saw lathe blower fan stamp mill i guess it all depends on your plans for the property.. ceramic work metal work stone work woodwork all need tools and equipment you have tools and i would start to upgrade them with my better equipment and power so i guess ore collecting and processing stamp mill/hammer mill probably make charcoal in the kiln more limestone gathering for quicklime and cement blocks a sawmill a lathe for tool handles axles planks chisels gouges ..so much to make so many possibilities and in what order to make them ...thanks for the videos

Not really. Yeah, he can get it to turn, but if he tries to connect that power to anything, that wheel's going to stop turning. I can barely keep up its own momentum, and even as those rough spots wear down, it's just not efficient enough to do much work. His power hammer build was a LOT more efficient, because it would actually do the work. This won't, as-is. He need BOTH more waterflow, and a more efficient axle.

@jimbayler4277
@jimbayler4277 3 года назад
@@ApprenticeGM : Check out the prohibitively expensive antique furniture world. Most of it was made with tools not much more sophisticated than what he used, and in many cases the cabinet maker did make his own tools out of necessity. Some of the best (and mot expensive) wood planes are Japanese, that are no more than a hardwood block and a sharpened thick chunk of metal. You adjust the depth of cut with a hammer, or tapping the butt of the plane against the workbench. @P. Skill's plane is styled after that type. The rest is just persistence, and attention to detail. We know from history that delicate, sophisticated, intricate, and beautiful wood art pieces have been created over and over, all over the world, using tools like that. Different shapes and sizes tools were made to attain various desired end results, but still just variations. For those old time woodworkers, they spent a little more time on the fit and finish of the tools, but they were still the same. Early Lathes were no more than a crude workbench with raised ends, two points for centers, a young tree, a piece of rope, and a crude foot pedal. They were called "spring pole lathes" They could turn out some pretty sophisticated turned items with those lathes.

Now to develop a gear and gearbox that will work your bellows for you. Also be cool if you planted some fruit trees and bushes.
@mobiousenigma
@mobiousenigma 3 года назад
gear box? whats wrong with the old method a simple old eccentric as in locomotive wheel is connected to piston rod by an off center axle ....thats called an eccentric..it is an easy way to convert rotational movement to linear movement....are you going to ask about a clutch now?
@TheEminemOwns

The bellows should not be the main priority. Hook the gear up to a circular metallic saw, and the progress thereafter will be on the next level!
@PaleGhost69
@PaleGhost69 3 года назад
@@mobiousenigma To be technical I was thinking a reciprocating rack and pinion set up since we are dealing with wood and simple iron hand tools. Having a gearbox would give him options to hook up different equipment. Even your locomotive eccentric, although I dont think it would work well when made out of wood.

I know it would be a nightmare to make, but cant he make wooden or ceramic based ball bearings? i mean. he can melt iron, the bigest problem here would make the bearings have the correct size but it would make the friction go way lowwr than wood on wood or wood on lubrificated leather
@newemc2
@newemc2 3 года назад
I have come to think of the alternatives offered in the comments to improve friction. Although I think the rotation would at least be improved with a dodecagonal (12 sided) design instead of octagonal. Ideally, it should be a perfect circumference, although it is more difficult to achieve and more laborious.

this is so cool. i have a few pointers, feel free to disregard. the first is to shape another two pieces of wood and fit them over the shaft, to stop the wheel from trying to jump out of the rut. just two pieces of wood shaped as a U and nail it down. second pointer is to rub some sort of fat on the shaft instead of water. water in industrial uses is not actually a lubricant. you're better off catching some fish, rendering them and rubbing that grease onto the axle. you'll have to reapply fairly often i imagine but it should stop the creaking and make the wheel run more smoothly. nice job on all the work you've put in though, it's pretty incredible.

Agreed a cap would help. However IMO the main issue besides lack of lubrication is that the axle diameter is too great. They need mortises carved into a smaller diameter. Basic physics. Oil and grease can be hard to find in the natural world. Possible sources: animal/chicken, cotton seeds, palm seeds, coconut. Also, if there are bees there is bees wax.

Throw in some bricks from some clay, and he’ll have a primitive but extremely useful Bessemer furnace, and instead of wrought iron he’ll have some actual steel. And later, he’ll even have a hydroelectric plant (This would be when he’d probably end the series, but I’d be satisfied because he harvested electricity from literally nothing but sticks and stones.)

I don't think he lives there, maybe sometimes? It would be interesting to know what his normal life is, like where he sleeps, if he has a job or family, and how he learned all his skills.

i suspect given 21 centuary you are correct he has a life ..responsibilities probably family and job as well...which have nothing to do with us unless he cares to share. this is probably a plot of land family owned that stood unused because we buy food now not gather grow and process it ourselves now and he is now putting it to use again...or thats how my mind pictures it lol he is a skilled wood worker and it shows he has done a lot of carpentry in his time so thats probably his profession as for the bushcraft and other things well partly he lives there and put him into canadian shield bush he wouldnt make it or into aferican savanah or even prairie he knows his local resources making cement 2000 years or so clay ceramics a lot longer metal smiting again 2000 + years we have forgotten the non industrial ways of making things mostly but the information is still out there and only takes practice to begin creating skill we have done the hard part already inventing it its easy to adapt and use something in a way not designed

@@rvnn4957 Progressively throughout his videos his shirt has had a hole in it that's been getting bigger and bigger, so now it's a joke in his community that he can craft these intricate devices but he can't fix or make a new shirt.
