It was amazing how the jock sniffers who did the media nonsense never realized how good Carnera was. They just parroted the same stupid mistaken phrases attached to him by ignorant jock sniffer writers who played piccolo in their HS band. None of them actually LOOKED at his abilities with unprejudiced eyes He actually was very quick and agile on his feet and had pretty good punching skills. defensive moves and combinations as well. Oh well, anything to sell newspapers.
Victorio was a tall guy, fast & had a lot of courage, determined too -- but he didn't have the power and build of Carnera. Carnera was a tank. As far as muscle is concerned Primo is one of the few heavyweights more thickly muscled & even bigger than George Foreman or Gerry Cooney. Trivia: Carnera holds the second-most victories of all heavyweight champions with 88. Ezzard Charles had 95 wins. However, Carnera's 71 career KO's is the most of any world heavyweight champion to this day. Those other heavyweights who are close to Carnera's record had far longer careers than Primo. And no -- Primo did not fight bums -- (though there were a few that were not as skilled, Ali fought those types of fighters as well), Primo fought ranked fighters and some former champions.

Forse la tecnica non era grandissima, ma di certo non era quel mediocre pugile dipinto da una certa storiografia pugilistica britannica. Era forte e coraggioso, con un buon jab e un'impressionante stazza per l'epoca.
