The best fight no one ever heard of. I remember watching this live in either USA or ESPN and having the impression that night that this was the the most brutal action packed fight I had ever seen. All these yrs later it still sticks in my mind and it still holds up. Rematch was more of the same. I met Merqui on a couple occ4ations in Las Vegas, once on a city bus. What a nice guy. Two great warriors here baring their souls. Thanks guys!
There is another like this with heavyweights, I swear it's killing me but I can't think of either of their names. They have big names though. One of them throws up right after the last bell. It's an inside fight just like this for 12 rounds it's ridiculous. Berbick or tony... someone from back in either of them days.
Santo Domingo, Puerto Rico.....I saw that on the screen, didn't I? And this is one of the rare occasions Buffer pronounced Dominican Republic correctly.
I remember watching this fight and telling myself it was brutal. Looking back now the decision was a BS one by the doctor. The doctor asked both how do they feel and both said they feel good. Both could and should of continued.
