I want to tell you a true story... I was doing backstage interviews for a British TV Show called CDUK at this Brit Awards. When Prince performed Purple Rain I literally caught myself with open-jawed at his genius watching from the green room. When I snapped myself out of it, I looked around and saw Blondie, Madonna, Kanye West and Noel Gallagher standing watching the same monitor with the same dumb-founded expression on their faces as me. They were all superstars. But Prince was a megastar.
You were doing interviews and you believe that Blondie is one person? It's the name of a band. Madonna and West both rely on voice processing and Noel Gallagher wrote a few catchy tunes. No real musical talent in any of that group 🙄
@@jayclarke5466 Matteo is fantastic, so is Marcin and Lucas Imbirba. But are they on your playlist? (serious question, not trolling) They're not on mine. Prince is.
greatest recorded performance I've ever seen.. guitars skills, stage presence, theatrics, song choice and momentum of the medley and his voice was on point...falsetto was awesome, pitch sounding perfect, and the band and Shelia E too.. unreal.. hopefully no one followed that.. be impossible!
...some poor guy at the side of the stage banging his head against the Wall...thinking...how am I going to follow that and what Idiot put me on after Prince...
It's easy to forget that Prince is one of the best guitarists of all time. It's also easy to forget that Prince is also one of the greatest dancers/performers of all time. Incredibly, his ability to play and record every instrument on his album is also easy to forget. Pick your favourite front man from any group and they might have been special in a particular area, but they weren't elite in just about every single category. That belongs to Prince.
@@jacobdylan7706 What good music has Macca made since The Beatles? Obviously, The Frog Chorus was incredible but apart from that there's a few hits but none of them will stand the test of time.
@@jacobdylan7706 the beatles were lucky due to their time, right time right place, none of them having anything on prince talent wise im sorry but if you say otherwise there is absolutely no evidence of it
Every single time Prince hit the stage was like "Hey, I'm here just to remind you that I am, among other things, the greatest showman that has ever graced Mother Earth".
Fucking mindblowing. He was one of a kind. One of the greatest honours of my life seeing him live in Manchester on his Hit and Run tour with 3rd Eye Girl. Best concert I've ever experienced.
Me too absolutely mind blowing and watched a heaven sent GENIUS in everyone's heart 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜. 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧. 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧. 🙏🙏🙏🎸🎸🎸. 💯💯💯. 💜💜💜. Thank you were in my life 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Prince was just possibly the best, most original artist to set foot on a stage in the last 40 years. Absolute command of every second he's out there, astoundingly good and tasteful electric guitar player and a stellar bandleader. What a loss. I'm so pissed I never saw him live.
The brit award show he appeared on that year was incredible. The "artists" that won awards that year were SO great. No one actually ever heard from them ever again. Don't we all remember and listen to west life and kaiser chiefs? It's pathetic. People actually stood up and screamed for bands that no one ever gave a shit about 6 months after their "hits".
Can we talk about how amazing his voice sounds? Absolutely perfect, no compromises because he was live, hits the high notes and the screams and the growls and voice breaks...what a talent.
Hes so good at literally everything related to music that any particular skill of his is rarely emphasized. But yes. Yes, his vocals are unparallelled. Ive never heard anyone hit high notes so powerfully and clean as he does live
Hi Ignorance is why perception can be misunderstood but with Prince there is no denying the fact that he was one of the greatest artist of our time! Mr Kramer from New Zealand
I'd be honored if some Prince fans would take a listen to my acoustic piano & vocal performances of PURPLE RAIN and DIAMONDS & PEARLS on my YT channel in tribute to the greatest songwriter/producer/multi-instrumentalist of all time. Live acoustic with no autotune or digital editing. Thanks and RESPECT to the genius of Prince.
@@willritter4076 I believe that when Prince covered a song he always did it better than the original and I think that's how covers should be done. Why listen to an inferior version of a song when I can just play the best version? I would rather hear something original. Respect and keep music alive.
Goddamn is this guy good! He's a master on the guitar. Very few people can sing and play lead. He's on point. Truly one of the very best musicians to have ever existed.
This genius could play19 instruments! So fortunate I experienced two concerts ... younger performance and the cool laid back wonderful being here! Breathtaking!
His voice makes me cry! So talented! So missed! NEVER A MUSICIAN WHO COULD PLAY 19 INSTRUMENTS WITH A VOICE RANGE LIKE HIS. EVEN THOUGH I LOVED MICHAEL JACKSON I BELIEVE HE ALSO RECOGNIZED PRINCE'S MEGA TALENT thus naming one of his children Prince Michael. PRince THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME !!!!
not only a master on guitar and vocals the genius formally known as Prince produced his first albulm and played every musical instrument, hence the controversy when the label tried to first sign the prodigy, they would'nt let the 17 yr old produce himself, so he backed out but eventually got the ok to do so, his first T.V appearance he said he was 19yrs old when in fact he was only 17. This Man is was and will forever be my first love, Im forever grateful for having a Master teach me at 13 what real music sounds like Thank you xxx
Start with a slow ballad and end with let's go crazy with a all female band. Only Prince the greatest musician we'll see in this lifetime. That's out straight
Not ELVIS.....Not MICHAEL......Not anybody from the past, present, or future will ever come close to this GENIUS.........PRINCE ROGERS NELSON is and will be the GREATEST OF ALL TIME...... GOD SENT A MUSICAL GENIUS TO THIS PLANET....WE HADE AN OPPORTUNITY TO WITNESS IT.... HE DIDNT MAKE MUSIC......HE WAS MUSIC,!!!!!!!!
funny how people are just realizing how good Prince was at guitar, he only been killin it for 30 years and was probably the best all around musician that ever lived on many instruments.
@@ernestrobles2995 Micheal Jackson was an amazing artist & performer one of my favorites! However put the him in room with Prince with nothing but a guitar and some other instruments and watch what happens, Mike would be moonwalking his ass out the door...😆
Rock&Roll band from Brazil having Stones and T.Rex with the biggest influence :) :) any good , please ? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-M954FUmeD3M.html
W & L were very hurt when he basically ditched them. Basically in his mind he wanted to go to a different place and virtually none of the Revolution were what he wanted. Sheila E wasn't in the Revolution but was one of the group that replaced them. The Prince Official Podcasts are really good in describing what was going on at that time.
A true genius in every way. No words. Just pure soul food. There will never be another like him. When you know, you know 😉 The bar he set still will not be touched for many years....
Tue Sep 7 2021 This is my first time to see Prince I have been curious about him for some time And today I decided to look him up first was his interview with Larry King the CNN (his eyes were so beautiful and his voice his personality ) Then a documentary about him being a genius can play every instrument, was the creative artist Finally this live show the Brit Awards, wow everyone on the stage was so beautiful and the performance was just soul captured Thank you for upload this Prince Live Show
I worked at his GlamSlam nightclub in Miami, for a hot minute, and got to see him play impromptu on a few occasions. The man was BEYOND brilliant; the term, "Musical Genius" doesn't do him justice.
This performance is incredible! Prince gets my vote for best all-around musician and performer. All live instruments, no lip-syncing, and he was 47 years old here. Prince’s playing and singing were every bit as good in 2006 as they were in 1984! Prince really didn’t age. His Royal Badness rocked the house!
I think he got better with age. I have seen him 34 times in concert over the decades each concert different even concerts night to night are different.
It simply wasn't fair for any other musician or performing artist to be compared to such a rare and immense talent, every time Prince performed he reinforced his legacy as the greatest performer, musician, and songwriter, & producer of music the world has ever seen. Literally nobody could play 30+ instruments, sing every vocal part including backups, write the music for all of the instruments, create the arrangements, and record each song performing all parts on his own with the help of a single engineer (Peggy McCreary) or audio tech (Susan Rogers) with the vast majority of songs being completed from start to finish in less than 24hrs with very few exceptions such as "When Doves Cry" which was recorded over 3 consecutive days & "Purple Rain" which was recorded live during the production of the movie Purple Rain with several overdubs added in studio. Beyond the music that Prince recorded and released under his own name he also created the groups "Vanity" and "The Time" among others that were essentially his alter-ego's, one feminine & one masculine, that also served as his musical competition and gave the illusion of a diverse emerging Minneapolis music scene in the process despite Prince writing the songs, performing all instruments in the recording studio & recording a guide vocal for the lead singer to closely follow.
I got to see this legend perform live when I was 13yrs old, it was in Oakland, Calif, and it was in support of his Under The Cherry Moon album....it was more than epic....and look at Sheila E killin it on them drums in this vid!! Damn she's fine as hell, ain't she?!!
OMG how I miss this man, such a shame he is no longer with us. Saw him live once, best God damn concert I have ever been. Amazing artist guitar player dancer. RIP Prince
That crowd could not hang! Thank God I’m a GenX who grew up during Prince’s legacy! One of greatest musicians and performers to have ever lived! No lip syncing, no auto tuned, all live EVERYTHING!❤
Prince was a fine wine. Every live performance was extra-maturing. What a fine craft he was! He was beyond what is normal. He would touch where soul & spirit separates. His music connects you with the Universe, something out of this world.
I worked with security for Prince in his 3 days in Rotterdam on his Love Sexy tour. Each night was different & brilliant. We were getting the pitch ready during one of his sound checks & he played a Kansas City Here I Come jam of about 20 minutes just for us. This clip & his While My Guitar Gently Weeps solo shows the beauty of this amazing artist & Jeez, still miss him
I dont know if the audience realized that they had witnessed one of the greatest performances of all time. Its sad howto think how far the awards and performances have fallen since then , but then again Prince will always be King ! and who is worthy to follow ?
How true. Well said. This must be one of the most beautifully synchronous performances ever. The man, his band, the entourage, the delivery and the sound. Perfection.
Prince was from the old school where excellence mattered. Not only was he blessed with bountiful talent, Prince had vision and was the hardest working man in show business. That combination is deadly and rare in this world. I have a slightly different definition of genius because if that gift is wasted and not made manifest in the world, it's useless. Geniuses are meant to change the world.
Wow, truly no one puts on a live performance quite like this man. I couldn't believe that was Sheila E beside him. That was a killer mini-set. I'd give anything to see him perform again. Rest in Power Prince.
This dude wasn't human. He was a God sent down to earth to school us mere mortals on this thing called life! Sadly, he had to return from whence he came!
He was able to do everything live at the same time: singing very hign and very low, playing very complicated guitar solos, leading the whole band with absolute control and also performing to the audience very well! There are many masters on some of these areas but I don't know anyone else who could handle all these things. He was super talented of course but I guess he also practised a lot. And his musicians and dancers must have practised a lot also. He gave everything to the audience!
If you listen to Prince's sound engineer Susan Rogers talk about Prince's routine, he would play 3-4 hours prior to every show, then another 2 hours plus of the show and then another couple of hours at some smaller venue after the main show. In other words, he was playing ALL THE TIME. That's why he is such a virtuoso musician, it's talent combined with lots and lots and lots of practice.
He had epilepsy till he was 7 and his life expectancy didn't look good. Aged 7 he told his mother an angel came to him and told him he was cured. After that, his life became a mission to become the greatest artist he could be so he could spread the word, and he did. The final verse of his song "Anna Stesia" goes : "Save me Jesus 4 I've been a fool How could I forget U are the only rule U are my God, I am Ur child From now on, 4 U I shall be wild I shall be quick I shall be strong I'll tell your story, no matter how long We're just a play in Ur master plan Now, my Lord, I understand"
Purple Rain has to be one of the greatest songs of all time. I'm sitting watching this with tears running down my face. From the very first, to the very last note, it draws you in and there's no escaping!! It touches you right where it counts! RIP to this musical genius....there'll never be another like him.
jesus christ no one delivers a performance like that. i literally cried watching this. seeing my three favorite members of his former bands with him again: wendy, lisa, and sheila. if i had been there, i would have died happily! saw him twice in my life, once at 15 and then again in 2004 FROM THE SECOND ROW on the Musicology tour. still have the stub!
Wendy on guiter and lisa on keyboards where with him from the beginning and Sheila E has been with him for most his career basically they are the old revolution members he gone full circle and they returned
I have seen live the following: Clapton, Bonamassa, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Earl Slick, Kilmister, Steve Stevens, Gilmoure, Rick Ruben, John Mayal, Gary Moore, Mick Ronson………. But Prince has got to be the best ever and by far the most underrated. Underrated simply because he excelled at songwriting, performance and multi talented player, but when you see the way he handles the guitar
I totally agree with you but in my opinion another often underrated "guitarist" is Eddie Van Halan, he had a totally unique and innovative way of playing and could make his guitar sound like a classical instrument, the live full length version of Eruption is mind blowing! 🤯
