He's just too cool. I don't even know how to describe it. Michael was magical, but Prince had that primal, animalistic allure on top of his already incredible talent as a musician.
Met my wife 100% cause of this MFr. 1984 in the school parking lot. I was blasting Prince on my Alpine strereo wih my badass 100 watt amp in my 1982 Mustang. Old girl heard it and approached...the rest is history. Thank you Prince for the love of my life, my 3 beautiful children and 8 beautiful grandchildren. THANK YOU PRINCE!
Prince was the only artist who could make contradictions work in a song: The song is called "Sexy MF" but the lyrics are about love and marriage. He steals a girl like a gangster (microphone gun and all) yet opens the car door for her. Prince was the artist who dared. And those horns hit SO HARD!
Prince had so many styles under his belt, it’s impossible to pigeon hole him into a specific genre, he pretty much invented his own style that no one can ever emulate
This song is so funky with a hint of jazz. Drums, guitar, horns, and keys all come together so elegantly. What an incredible track that will never ever get old in a million years.
When you look at Prince's library of songs, you see his sense of humor throughout. You also see that he really doesn't take himself too seriously. This is especially evident in Sexy M.F. The dialogue at the beginning of this video is really funny, how everyone throws "shade" at each other's hats and hair style... Anyway. Just wanted to say Prince really did have a sense of humor. I miss him terribly, but in an odd way, his death has made me rediscover his art, which I am grateful for. Shine on, you crazy diamond in the heavens somewhere a star now shines brightly and I know it is him looking down at us all rediscovering him.
So many words but none of them adequately describes Prince. Unique, genius, comfortable with who he was, beyond talented ... and at 5'2'', immaculately dressed, wearing heels and eyeliner, oozed masculinity without the need to be toxic about it. I would have liked to have been his friend ... nothing more ... preserve the mystique. RIP Prince ... perhaps one day we'll meet in the next realm. ❤
@@davednz1264 that may be the matter for some people, thats true, but I think most people celebrate him for the magic he had around him. He was a magical man and neitherless that he is gone, his magic is still here. I personally think every person is beautiful as long as the heart is on the right place. It does not matter how tall or short someone is. Or how someone looks like. He is sexy, because he lived his sexiness all the way through. He let it show. Plus his humor is so sexy as well.
Prince is a great entertainer and a real gentleman.people pay him ahead if time to return and do shows. Shout out to Chicago's north siders..smile queen Ms freda
Agreed, and im a 100% HETROSEXUAL MAN,but Prince was sexy, because of his untouchable talent, the way he carried himself, man if i had that i could have ANY woman i wanted too
Just watched a live show from Earls Court, London where he wore a version of the pearl blouse with pearl accents down his cream colored trousers to perform, what else? CREAM!!! What a look, only HE could pull it off!🤯
The brutality of his funk is phenomenal. I remember when this piece came out, as if a spaceship had landed with real music as a present to the world. A masterpiece for all time and the guitar solo is is really beyond the skills of today's so-called musicians.
@@fredyscanlan Pfft. You have to feel good to convincingly look good. But unless you actually look good as well, no amount of confidence will help you.
Prince definitely had something. I saw a video of him do a surprise guest appearance on a talk show and he was just amazing. He didn't perform or anything, he just showed up.
Taking his craft to unknown places. A song that has nothin' to do with sex or smut called "You Sexy M.F." ...only Prince can pull off a stunt like this...Still ahead of his time...R.I.P genius.
OK all you ladies tell me please who wouldn't walk out with Prince if given the chance?.....I will be the first to admit I certainly would and wouldn't look back... 💜💜💜💜💜
"It was recorded in about 20 minutes, half an hour. I hated my organ solo on it. I wanted to make it better and fix it. But Prince was like, 'No, it's fine, just leave it.' He wanted that spontaneity with that band. If you compare it to the Revolution, it was just a very different kind of band. Different kind of musicians, and this band could actualize absolutely anything he envisioned. If it was in his head, we could make it happen. I think he loved that for a while. I'm very proud of how tight we were. In 'Sexy MF,' everyone was sure there was a James Brown loop tucked in there. 'Well, there's loops in there, right?' 'Nope.' " Tommy Barbarella (for more stories like these, search for Prince in the Nineties: An Oral History )
That is why I cant say which band I like more. They were too different. NPG seemed more musically flexible, though. And I love thug prince. And your solo was great. prince was right - leave it.
Prince has said that he overanalyzed his first album seeking to make it perfection and it was just too stressful so I think he started embracing more of a loose jam session feel from his second album on.
The Symbol Album was pure 🔥 from start to finish and it still pisses me off that it wasn’t the smash hit it should’ve been because there were massive hits in it waiting to happen. I hope a new generation will discover this album and see that he was still making amazing & genius albums well past the 1980’s.
Prince would be the first to tell ya....that's a James Brown inspired beat. The bridge of "Say It Loud, I'm Black And I'm Proud" among others. Don't get me wrong, Prince was a super badazz! He took things from Brown, Sly, Hendrix, Little Richard, etc...all the best! And he rolled it all up into his own special gumbo.
@@moonriver3552 Michael Jackson was also influenced by James Brown who owns his Catalogue, as well as Bobby Brown. There was a Picture of him with Paul McCartney, Ron Wood Of The Rolling Stones & Brian Wilson Of The Beach Boys. They revered him as well.
Just for the record whatever Prince wrote, produced and directed you had to be ready or not. No words can describe this man. That suit he was sporting with the buttons coming down in a curve. DAMN. The outfit Troy Beyer was sporting yes honey get it girl ❤️❤️👠 His backup singers and everyone else was BAD to the BONE 🌹Prince miss you so much😉
‘That’s in France on the south side in case ya care’ - funkiest tune ever, NEVER gets old, intro sounds brand new every time, one of his absolute masterpieces.
The thought that I will never share another night with Prince enjoying his live performance & dancing all night. Takes my breath away and leaves me speechless. He was a gift, but only for a short time.
This song was so ahead of its time, and a DJ here in Sydney, Doug Mulray, who was no prude said "where did Prince expect to get playtime?) and was shown up as a bit slow.😊
I've been a Prince fan for years, however this is my first time seeing this video and it has to be one of my favorites , he was always ahead of his time
I like how he mix his rap with funk music and everything u can imagine that he mix with any of his other songs. A pure musical genius like Stevie Wonder and I’m a HUGE fan of BOTH
Prince is one of those artists that should be talked about in music schools. Sexy MF itself is revolutionary in several respects, and it has dozens of other songs that have introduced small revolutions in the world of popular music. Even symphonies owe him a few solutions.
