I actually did become ordained because my friends wanted me to officiate their wedding. I ran the idea of doing this at the start by them and they were totally on board.

No, unfortunately. The wedding and reception were being held outside, and a massive rainstorm hit right after the ceremony. A lot of the traditions got tossed out the window. The best man didn't get to do his speech either.
My high school buddy's dad passed away just after we graduated and the preacher was a doppelganger for this character, "Wife is a pwecious thing, wife is sweet, wife is hahd", and in the back my other friend was cracking jokes, while my friend who's dad died was laughing so hard that he was crying, "If your wife is hard, then you have a real conversation ahead of you". I swear it was the funniest funeral I've ever been to and not just because of the preacher. Their whole famiy was naturally funny and fun to be around. To this day I can't be sure if the preacher was putting on a character. It's been 22 years and I still thi k about it. When I die this is the funeral that I want.

Yo, i swear to this day I cannot watch/read a wedding ceremony without hearing this in my head and cracking up! Maybe it’s a good thing I missed the last two of my friends’ weddings 😂😭🤣💀🤷🏽
I remember laughing the most from this scene. Any time after that, I start to giggle until I have tears rolling down my face. The man was a comedic genius with that voice.
They really were! I'm glad that RU-vid has many videos of sketches by the two and the movie "Bedazzled" is a howl! I'm an American who fell in love with British humor at age 10, have loved it almost 50 years and will continue to. It's the best!!!

We did skits and one groups skit had a marriage and the person playing in the priest said the lines that the priest in this said in the same accent it was amazing
