Before becoming a princess, Diana Spencer lived a very quiet and modest life relative to the lives of other aristocrats. At the age of 18, Diana received a gift from her parents four-room apartment in London. This purchase took most of Diana's inheritance. One bedroom was occupied by a girl, and two more rented to friends for rent. Diana has always loved children and, when the question arose, where to work, she chose a "Young England" Kindergarten in a small neighborhood in central London. She was an assistant teacher and was paid five dollars an hour. The money from the rent and the nanny's salary was enough for food and small expenses. Diana's clothes were worn by her sisters, as well as swapped with friends. When in February 1981 it was announced that Prince Charles of Wales engaged to Lady Diana Spencer, she had to leave work.
