She was an icon of style. The shorter hair cut made her look stronger and more imposing and impactful. She looked more modern and outgoing with the short hair style.

100% - Diana was so feminine that short hair enhanced her beautiful face and femininity. A young Sinead O'Connor (+Annie Lennox) also displayed amazing facial beauty with a buzz cut esp in a video 'Nothing Compares 2 U' -tough hair cut with an exquisitely feminine face. Note (apologies if you know) -Sinead O'Connor shaved her head after being told by record company to grow it to be more feminine/ more commercial....Record company was wrong!
I've loved my hair the few times I've cut it short, it has been so easy to manage. Ultimately it just isn't "me" though and I always return to longer hair. Diana looked incredible with short hair, especially in the last year or 2 of her life.

I loved her hair in the choppy layered little straight bob she wore as a teen up until her and Charles first got together, it flattered her youthful face but my absolute favorite was in 1984 when her hair grew out during late pregnancy/early postpardum
I look at Diana and her eyes in childhood and think of how disappointed she must have felt. She married too young. It is so very sad how things worked out and none of it really her doing, much being circumstantial. May you rest in peace Diana ❤️
She had hair typical of the 60s & 70s and it wasnt that short. And when she grew itnout there wasnsuch a public backlash she went back to the shorter length because she couldnt bear to disappoint the public. She grew it out during the whole pregnanacy of Harry so lots of longer hair shots but only a few qith the longer hair using conbs..knce again a fashion accessory of the time period

The Fall 1984 styles exposed her roots to a degree I did not see before or since. Or possibly I just didn't notice .Wondering if Diana was advised against using bleaching chemicals during some or all of her pregnancy.
The short hair was the right one. It showed off her beautiful face. But really even if she had longer hair, a stylist would’ve found a way to show her off.
Well when I was a kid my mom used to cut my hair short. I was a girl and she used to give me bob cut. Cause I used to look cute in that. I never let her cut my hair without a bribe. And slowly it became part of my personality. Although now I don't have bob cut as I don't like it. But my hair never grew longer than my shoulder. I always had a shoulder length hair. I am just a short hair girl. So being bias I always find short hair girl extra beautiful.
She didn't choose to cut her hair later on at all! - Those at the Palace said her longer hair after Hawwy's birth was "too glamorous" & caused "too much attention" & "encouraged" her to cut it short🙏🏻🇬🇧
Well if she just had a baby maybe she couldn't be bothered getting her hair trimmed regularly she was busy so just let it grow for a while short hair has some maintenance advantages too since it doesn't take long to dry as pretty as she was she seemed like a practical person and maybe short hair was more popular in the 80s like sometimes perms were. Look at her body and facial features though she could wear almost any clothes or hairstyle and look pretty nearly effortlessly. She died so young she will always be remembered as young and pretty.
Charlotte is a Windsor she resembles Lady Sarah Chatto. Anne, Peter Phillips, William, Charlotte and Lady Sarah Chattoo all have the Queen Mother's eyes- heavy top lid with an outer edge that slants downward.
She was undeniably beautiful but I always felt her short hair was almost like a statement of her mental health. She was unhappy in most of her life but she admitted that she was happiest and closest to Charles when she was pregnant with Harry. Maybe the longer hairstyle was a good sign.

During this time period, she was admonished by the Queen for wearing her hair long enough to be styled in an up-do at the State Opening. The Queen felt that it up staged her and “undermined democracy.” This is perhaps ironic considering that a monarchy is not democratic. So it’s not surprising that Diana never wore her hair long again. Frankly, I always thought that the Queen was rather jealous of the attention Diana received. Charles was definitely jealous. Diana just by being herself out shown everyone regardless of rank. People just naturally gravitated towards her. And her ability to make anyone comfortable in her presence was probably once of the reasons she was so good with children. Her kindness is much needed and sorely missed these days.
