Do you think this would be good to read outloud to a 2 and 4yr old? Or would it be better for school age kids?We have Saintly Creatures and I often have to summarize because its a little advanced for them.
I think it could be good for littles as a read aloud. For sure it’s great for school aged kids. The text on each page isn’t too long (like 3 short paragraphs, 1-3 sentences each) and in combination with the colorful artwork on every single page, it should hold their attention. I haven’t read Saintly Creatures, so I can’t compare. Here’s an example of the text: “One summer day, as she prayed in her father’s garden, she was surprised by a shimmering light. Three figures appeared to her: St. Catherine, St. Michael, and St. Margaret. ‘Do not be afraid,’ said St. Michael. ‘We have a special message for you. God wants you to fight for France and finally end the terrible war that has lasted a century.’ ‘But I am only a peasant maid!’ cried Joan. ‘What can I do? I can’t even read. Why would anyone listen to me?’” Hopefully that helps!
