just as Israel in pride ignored the goodness of God's providence as His people, so it is we too can take for granted the great sacrifice Jesus has done for us. We are entitled to nothing. Were it not for the grace of God, Christ dying in our place - we who are sinners, we would have faced the grave of God in His wrath God does not enjoy correction to the rebellious but as a last shot offering to our free will in His mercy provides us a way of escape in and thru Christ. God remembers and does not let sin carry on forever. 2 centuries and 19 kings is a long time for us, but not so long for God and His patience. May we learn from the past mistakes of others to obey God and heed His call so we are not carried off like the Assyrians did to the children of evil, Satan desires to do with the children of God.
